I was told to buy a money order at this store to pay for deposits. It was the first day I arrived in the States and everything seemed a bit overwhelming. I’m not a native speaker so unfortunately I only remembered this was called«money sth». There was a young female employee with head wrap, laughing at me and making fun of me to other staff when I couldn’t make myself understood. This was the worst experience for a young foreigner who just landed in this country. Will always remember how it felt when being mocked by that employee. Please show some respect to your customers and be helpful when they have some difficulties. Thanks.

This is my closest pharmacy. I’ve filled prescriptions several times here; you either wait 30 minutes for them to fill it, or they need to order it and it arrives the next day. Their OTC medication is quite a bit more expensive than Target, but what’s even more expensive is stocking up on stuff on sale that you don’t need from Target and watching it expire. When I recently had a severe toothache, I bought all my pain relievers from here as I was in no condition to head over to Target. I paid about 30% more than I would have at Target, but that’s the price of convenience. They have a grocery section at the back. It’s generally overpriced, but when milk goes on sale I get it since it’s closer to me than any grocery store and a gallon is pretty heavy to carry around. At the front they have a table with clearance items of all sorts(food, OTC, personal care, stationary, etc.) on it. 3.5 stars

The pharmacy here is one of the best I’ve used. The staff is always friendly, remembers my name, and they often fill my prescriptions on the spot– 5 or 10 muinute wait at most. I have found them all very accomodating and willing to call your doctor if refills are needed. Working in a pharmacy can be stressful, but I find that these folks are courteous, efficient and congenial.

The pharmacy department just always throws me off. I have been there 3 times & each time has been the same experience … infact just when i think this is the rock bottom the store can hit, they manage to fall even further. I am sorry, but you have lost a customer for life… !

Goto place everyone living in the Newport area… They often run out of milk and bread… So it’s good to keep a check on when they fill their inventory … For all other food items… Morton Williams is close by

I haven’t used Duane Reade as a pharmacy, but as a convenience store and photo shop I have mixed reviews. I love the convenience of having it nearby when I need to grab a few things. They have a nice selection of food items, juice, soda, etc., and often have very good deals on things like Coke Zero(which I’ll admit I drink a lot of). At the photoshop I have not had great experiences. The employees are clearly not well trained on printing, preparing, or FINDING, pictures. They also have very poor customer relations skills. I have worked retail jobs, bartending, and waiting tables, and I know how hard I worked and how much attention I always paid to customer service. So I expect the same from staff in stores that I frequent. I have had difficulty getting help from employees here who either ignore you or act like you are bothering them when you need them to do something. What happened to the days of smiling and trying to make the customer happy?

This place inspires self-loathing, «If I planned things better I’d have the time to walk 10 minutes to Target» soon reminds me of various personal-finance woes and then veers into a broader«what have I done with my life?» A couple of times I’ve paid for $ 70 concert tickets or $ 35 steaks, and I’m told that expensive cars work better than Yugos, but at Duane Reade you do not get what you for. The $ 8 pack of disposable razor blades isn’t anything fancy, it’s the same stuff you can get cheaper at Target or even Shop-Rite. I’ve there are good deals for Duane Reade cardholders but that sort of thing just feels too organized and regimented. I haven’t completely broken the Duane Reade habit. The second star is for the friendly workers and the near 24⁄7 hours, but the prices here are slowly encouraging me to make lifestyle changes… like waking up 20 minutes earlier so I have time to go to another store.

This is the only I am aware of in the newport vicinity. They do carry all the necessary supplies but my concern with this place with the pharmacy section. There are a long wait to collect the prescriptions here.

The pharmacy department is rude and argumentative all the time.

You get to pay nyc prices right here in downtown jc. Its duane reade. It reeks of convience. All the little items that you need to pick up for dinner or that you forgot at shoprite or pathmark you can get here. That being said the prices are much higher than shoprite or pathmark so necessity only.

A big Duane Reade(only open until Midnight, though!) in Newport, for almost your basic convenient supplies aside from groceries and liquor(handled down further on the road by Morton Williams, A&P, Target, and the wine store). A pharmacy, which is useful, especially in this area.

Being a new to Newport or the NYC area can be hard. Well the transition at this place was easy. Granted moving pharmacies isn’t that hard with big chains. But I moved from several states away from my independent pharmacy. Moving it self is hard. They aided me in the process and even when my out-of-state doctor decided to take a vacation in the middle of the transition the pharmacy helped me get my needs taken care of. The friendly staff and pharmacist get my vote and loyalty. The store itself is nice/new/stocked and complete with all the little pick-up items you need for day-to-day needs. So Duane Reade I will be back.
