The dumplings were awesome you should try them in both chicken and veal. If you’re fighting a cold you should absolutely try the ginger lemon honey drink it is hot, sweet, a little spicy from the ginger and it is absolutely delicious

The best food in McGinley Square area! Fresh, homemade. Quality for a fair price. I am a regular customer who visits often. Pilaf, dumplings, soup, breads, desserts. ALL are super delicious!

It definitely worth a visit if you live nearby, but not for an hour’s drive. The lamb pilaf was pretty good, but the cookies were disappointing, especially when I came here just for it.

This place is really really good. This is the best café and no bs food spot in jersey city. Everything seems like it’s made to order and the food is just delicious. I had the salmon sandwich and I couldn’t have been happier. Also we tried the borscht, a lamb pilaf, some cookies and a salad, all very delicious, especially considering our options in Journal Square. Please keep doing what you do honey bakery

Really creative menu and well made food. Their breads are amazing and their breakfast sandwich is really good, though good luck getting them to actually make it spicy. Also the people who work there are very nice. I recommend sitting outside when the weather permits it

Mine is the only neighborhood in the country with an Uzbek-Russian-Korean bakery and restaurant. And as concatenous as that may sound it works. It really, really works. The owners of this cozy shop on busy Bergen Avenue off McGinley Square are wonderfully hospitable and tremendously talented. Let’s start with the bread. Every morning they bake loaf after loaf of fresh bread in multiple varieties. It’s all as good as anything you’d pick up at the finest boulangerie in Paris or Quebec. Then there are the cookies and pastries. Honey bakes the most remarkable cottage cheese cookies you’ll ever savor. They’re moist on the inside, tender and flaky on the outside and sprinkled with glassine flakes of sugar that pop in your mouth. Their Belgian chocolate brownies are richly textured and deliciously dense with an undertaste of tannin that smacks of good red wine. And if you’ve never tasted salted shortbread before then here’s your chance. At the lunch and dinner hours this cozy bistro becomes a BYOB serving filling and savory Eastern European meals. Lamb is big here. Try the Dolma — great steaming pods of lamb and mint and rice wrapped in the freshest grape leaves you’ve ever tasted. The yogurt sauce appears dull but it’s not. The spicy kick will set you back in your seat. So treat yourself to a most unusual and tasteful dining experience and visit Honey Bakery. And bring your fiends.

Get the lamb steak sandwich. The lamb rice pilaf was okay but the meat chunks were smaller than I hoped. The cottage cheese cookies are light and tossed with cinnamon. They’re the best baked good I tried from there. The puff pastry with fruit topping was good. Everything was solid and I recommend it as a local option to snack at. I was staying at an Airbnb upstairs and this was a great option for us.

Man those cottage cheese cookies are good. Yes we ate some tasty savory things but … my brain is fixated on the cookies. The cookies taste like a cookie and a cake.

There are other really good pastries than the«to die for» cottage cheese cookies(my favorite). I’ve tried the Chak Chak, apple strudel, and sea salt shortbread and they are really good too. You can warm up the cookies or pastries in the oven and it would taste just as good!

If you think the cottage cheese cookies are great you should probably try exploring outside of your backwater hicksville food desert sometime. Where are you from, Redneck Avenue? It was dry!!!

Such a treat to finally get to go here and taste their food. We ordered the chicken pelmeni, borscht(hot), lamb pilaf, and a cottage cheese cookie. Overall, I was very satisfied. Everything was yummy, but my faves were the lamb pilaf(so delicious and flavorful!) and the cottage cheese cookie. I can only imagine how amazing the cookies must be when they first come out of the oven. *salivates* The meat inside the chicken pelmeni was quite flavorful but the dough was a bit thick for me. The dipping sauce was great — a spicy soy sauce. And the borscht, that was tasty and super healthy. So excited to go back and try their other items. Staff(one guy behind the counter) was really nice as well. Total gem in the neighborhood!

Cottage Cheese Cookies, ’nuff said. Okay, fine – I’ll write more. Although I found myself wanting to try their veal dumplings or chocolate Chak-Chak, the cottage cheese cookies are the main reason why I literally drove around the area for forty minutes looking for parking. I was here twice. The first time I stopped by, the owner told me that there wouldn’t be a fresh batch for at least an hour. I left for about forty five minutes and came back ten minutes before the cookies were ready to be removed from the oven. All that driving, all that waiting, and all that horn honking – it was all worth it! Based on all of the other reviews, I trusted my fellow Unilocalers and ordered two packs for $ 10 – ten cookies total. All I can really say is WOW! If only I tried one while paying, I would’ve ordered the entire batch. They are THAT good. For the record, the batch I bought was literally fresh from the oven. The outside of the cookie is sugary, giving you a slight crispiness with each bite, while the middle is super soft and moist. I know sharing is caring, but straight up – I will order an entire batch of these cookies and keep them all to myself the next time I’m here. Aside from these amazing cookies, there are also sea salt shortbread cookies, Khrustiki, almond cookies, and other homemade desserts and pastries. If you’re looking for something heavier, they serve lamb pilaf, Uzbek samosas, vegan borscht, spicy lamb steak sandwiches, and many other dishes. Well done, Honey Bakery. Well done.

Interesting find! Sea Salt Shortbread Cookies are to die for! The sandwiches are tasty but wayy too overpriced for what you get. The strawberry lemonade was okay, i had to add honey to it at home. .

Hidden gem, I would never picture this place in this section of Jersey City. Talking about food, that’s was scrumptious if you know what I mean. I have deep knowledge of Russian and Uzbek cuisine, so honestly speaking it’s truly authentic. We started with pickled carrot salad, which was spicy enough to make my nose run(good feeling) and plus I’m a big fan of garlic, so salad just hits a bull’s eye. A+! For the main course we had lamb pilaf, really delicious dish, my favorite! The spicy lamb sandwich made with Uzbek bread, flavorful peppers and well-seasoned lamb was tasty addition to pilaf. Logically, I couldn’t resist myself of having some sweets — almond cookie, cottage cookie and another my favorite — chak-chak. Good times! I’m glad we stopped by.

I got food from here twice — spicy lamb sandwich is awesome, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s flavorful, juicy and has just the right amount of spiciness. I like that there is a bit of pepper, mushroom in the sandwich to add to the flavor and texture. Second time I got lamb pilaf, right when the cook took it out of the stove. God, it was hot, flavorful and tender. However, it is a bit oily and $ 8 for a tiny serving is too pricey

Ok, so I got lost walking here from downtown(don’t trust your GPS, it’ll take on a route that rivals Big Bird in Japan). But it was worth the walk. Granted I only got a blackberry lemonade, a cottage cheese cookie, and a pumpernickel loaf. I split the cookie and immediately regretted it. It’s enough decadence to bring out the toddler in you. MINE is right. The lemonade was a street fair size, but with lots of yummy pulp. It was the best lemonade I have ever had. And the pumpernickel was dense like a newborn baby. It was so delicious and pumpy and nickely that I restricted myself to one thin slice a day.

Definitely one of my favorite stops during a trip here earlier this month. Lots of interesting flavor mixes here, with all the pastries and drinks looking really good. Employee was super cool and helpful, and the prices weren’t too bad at all. Ended up trying lots of cookies: chocolate chip(good), peanut butter(tasty), sea salt shortbread(good), oatmeal(very very good), cottage cheese(so good!) and almond(chewy and the best!). I’d like to say the drink I tried was cardamon mango lemonade(insanely yummy) but I may be wrong on an ingredient there. Hope to visit again soon and if you’re ever nearby, you should go!

Having majored in uzbekistani/Korean/Russian cuisine, imagine my surprise and delight to find such a restaurant right in Jc! Fine, you caught me, I was a Buddhism major, but you don’t care about that. Here’s what the affable owner told me: they don’t consider pilaf to be rice. Rice can be cooked in a rice cooker. Pilaf starts with cooking the lamb, carrots and spices in oil, then the rice grains are added. It is a delicate balance. Too much oil, it doesn’t work, too little, it burns. Timing is critical too. He is the Walter White of pilaf. Better call Saul, because this grub is so good it should be illegal. Not hit you over the head with flavor good, but nuanced and subtle deliciousness that builds momentum with every bite. By the end of my $ 7 «large» container of non-rice, I was as hooked as if I’d just smoked an ounce of the blue stuff. Cottage cheese cookies, same story. Bite one, pretty good. Three cookies later, I’m fiending for more. I want to give 5 stars, but need one more trip to solidify the coveted perfect score. Lagman, you’re up next. A little off the grid, but it’s not a trailer in the desert. Just get there!

There are a few places that I have gone to that just remind me of homemade cooking made with care. This is one of them. I first ordered delivery from here and it was pretty good so I went to visit them in person. The food is Russian/Uzbek/Korean. The owner explained to me that he is Russian and his wife and her parents are from Uzbekistan but ethnically Korean. The menu is comprised of things that they enjoyed eating at home and then decided to share. Not everything on the menu is five stars worthy. I liked the lamb pilaf but the veal dumplings were just okay. The cottage cheese cookies are amazing. Definitely a must try(perhaps these are worth 5 stars alone). The menu is definitely interesting and unusual and I want to try more of it. There isn’t a ton of seating(couples of tables inside and a couple of tables outside) but they do have free wi-fi if you want to sit there for a bit, which I did. Prices seem just a tad high but everything is made fresh(as in someone tried to order a sandwich and he told them it would take an hour). The food is also deceptively filling. Overall, 4 stars for the food, 5 stars for the baked goods, and 5 stars for the place/service/uniqueness. I definitely recommend trying them out.

Is kind of tucked away and doesnt seem like much but is a pleasant surprise. The owner and cook seems to even to really be into his creations and is very welcoming when entering. I had the zesty chickrn sandwich is was very good. Loaded with pepper and onions on a crispy bun, it was very filling had a delicious grilled taste, it also had an orange zest flavor and looks he grated qn orange on it before grilling. My only problem with it was it had mushrooms in it along with the other ingredients. Blech. I don’t remember seeing it in the meal description either. I also had a little of the egg sandwich which was similar to the chicken sandwich but had little differences and less mushroom. Again great though aside from that. There is some seating inside and some outside as well but I’d say get your food to go here if its crowded. In addition to interesting meals there are all kinds of cookies and baked goods made here. The cottage cheese cookie was way tastier than it sounds. The owner cooks and will even bring out your food which is very nice. For a unique menu with great service come here, but get take out if its crowded.
