Awesome bakery. Rich food. Cheap price! I have had their cannoli, rum cake, and other sweets. Definitely one of the best bakeries around!

This bakery is fairly good. Fresh, delicious pastries, reasonable prices. The brownies are far too moist and soft, it felt like I was eating unbaked batter. I like the triple chocolate cookies, not so much the canolies. I ordered a pineapple cake and it was surprisingly cheap and tasty. Rainbow cookies also nice. I wish they’d accept credit though

Awwwwww yeah! Their lobster tails are a work of art. I just want them to be open 24÷7… I’m going to guess that I’m not going to get my wish, but that’s probably for the better.

Cute little bakery. Never had a cannoli so I walked in and grabbed some. It was $ 1 a piece and worth the walk around the block. 5 stars for good and friendly service. Can’t argue with the price. The business is nice and everything presented in the Windows look so good!

I like to think of myself as a cupcake aficionado. .i love them… i always go into the city for my fix… but just this weekend. something AMAZINGHAPPENED! At my daughter’s Girl Scout holiday party. one of the mommies broght these simple homemade looking cupcakes. .so i just received mine. expecting nothing special. but I was wrong. Very wrong! It was like The 4th of July in my mouth!!! The chocolate frosting! ! The cupcake! What is this magic they use!!! Most wonderful part is… its a 8 min drive away from me… my whole life changed.

Old school Italian bakery. That means ultra-tasty desserts(think buttercream galore), plus everything else possible to give food happiness. Find charm in the grouchy Italian lady at the window watching over the place. The tiny store feels cramped if just one other person’s in it. But I suppose that adds charm too. If you’re looking for a hipster or cutesy place, go elsewhere. Prices are good. Go here if what Brooklyn used to be appeals to you.

It has been about five years since the last time I ordered a cake from them. Ordered a cake for my wife’s birthday. I ordered a chocolate cake, chocolate mousse filling and a chocolate buttercream frosting and quoted $ 20. When I picked up the cake the next day and open the box what I ordered was disguised as a yellow cake with chocolate mousse filling and a vanilla buttercream frosting. After observing the bakers and the the help play the blame game the baker offered to make my cake as ordered if I was willing to wait ten minutes. But afterwards when the baker returned with the finish cake he would not honor the price quoted to me over the phone. At this point I was weary of the whole thing that I just said charge me so I could leave. And I will just end this was just saying the cake was average at best. I also got the sense that the bakery maybe under new management.

Got a birthday cake here since I heard they are THE place to go in JC. I wanted cake for a milestone birthday that would stun… Well when I told the counter staff, they directed me to the binder of commercial cake designs that sits on the counter. Really??? The pictures were the same pictures you’d see at your local grocery store. When I asked them for ideas they were clueless and did’t want to deal with me. I ended up talking to the cake designer and got a cake that was… Fine. I think this place is good for your run if the mill cake designs. If you look through their Facebook designs etc. you can see the effort. They really try to do something amazing, but simply lack the ability to take cake designs to the next level. It’s a shame because I know people LOVE the cake itself and the filling.

Love their stuff! I’m an organic kind of person & I make an exception for monteleone. But to be honest it can taste fake & processed. I love their cookie with chocolate & sprinkles on half of it with jelly in the middle. The three layered cookie cake is not bad(I’ve found better in Brooklyn) Their chocolate chip cookie(big round ones) are yummmm The ginger chocolate cake — no don’t bother Carrot cake — don’t bother unless you’re a carrot cake feen The one with rum their pastry tastes so bad. My fav from them!!! Is the NAPOLEON … So good not authentic but still has lovely tasty cream in it! Must try!!! I will always walk in if I walk by — can’t help myself Oh and their brownies are good if you don’t have any other choice but I say stick to what I mentioned is tasty.

Cakes & pastries are very good. The staff is very friendly. This is as old school as your going to get. They are not about keeping with the times as other new age bakeries. You won’t see a maple bacon donut here. But they will play with a request. They do have those pretty kids cakes. There’s nothing here that isn’t good. Although I haven’t tried their cupcakes. I am obsessed with the lobster claws, Napoleons & tiramisu. Lobster sell out fast and are only available thursday thru sunday. The cakes are really good, soft, almost perfect. Yellow cake has a hint of lemon and its delicious. This is a guess, not confirmed.

I am ashamed that I have been living in JC for 10 years, and yesterday was my first experience at Monteleone’s. This place is INCREDIBLE. I ordered a few different items and the total bill came to $ 1.20(it was nearly closing time on Sunday, so maybe I got an extra discount). Although, my sister comes here often, orders a lot, and says her bill is usually around $ 4.00 or so. Everything here is delicious. They’ve got every kind of baked good you could ever dream of. I recommend the iced crumb buns. A+

I love Italian pastries. To do it right you need a good old school bakery. Enter this little gem. Rainbow cookies are a must. Seriously. They were perfection. Tiramisu was moist & simply delicious. Sfogliatelle was flaky, creamy, heavenly. Mini cannolis, in my experience, were also good. All the employees were friendly. A five minute walk from the Journal Square Path. A six minute walk from my gym(dangerous). Cash or EBT only.

Fantastic, authentic Italian bakery in Journal Square. I had been looking for a good old fashioned Italian bakery that can make a great Carrot Cake, Red Velvet, Rainbow Cookies, and all the rest. This is it. For an area that was once teaming with little shops like this one, all that seems to be left are the gourmet, artisan shops. Don’t get me wrong, I love trendy as much as the next Yuppie, however, sometimes you want tradition. The Carrot cake is moist and tasty. The cookies are delicious, with good flavor and great variety. The employees have always been friendly and courteous to me. I will continue to use them when I need traditional pastries or cakes.

I love the fact that this bakery is so close to where I live. The rum cake is delicious and so are the rainbow cookies. You can get a pound of rainbow cookies for around $ 8.I mostly finish the cookies within a day or two and go back for more because I am addicted to them. All their sweet treats seem fresh and there is not a single thing that I have tried here that has disappointed me. The hubs even got my birthday cake from here since I love the place and the cake was huge and awesome. It was so huge that it lasted for at least a week and it was obviously fresh since it didn’t spoil. The prices are quite reasonable. If you haven’t been to the journal square area of Jersey City, this bakery is definitely a reason to come here.

This bakery has been open since the beginning of time. An old Italian woman sits by the cash register and can be quite rude, it’s charming. Anyways, do you like rainbow cookies? This is your place. I would trek 50 miles in a blizzard barefoot to eat their rainbow cookies. They are perfect. The pignolis are good too. When I was a child, I lived on Pavonia Avenue across from Rands ice cream store(now a car chop shop) my grandma and I would walk here to get our cookies. The taste has not changed in 30 years. The cannolis are just OK. I don’t think I would subject myself to frostbite or amputation to eat those, but cookies, yes. Italian cookies are a delicacy. Either you can make them properly or you can’t. Monteleone’s bakery can.
