Old Colony Liquor Wine & Beer

I was pleasantly suprised by this place! I was at Pathmark stocking up on stuff for the new apt., and thought after all the unpacking, I could perhaps benefit from a bottle of wine (I mean glass…). So I went in, expecting the range to be between 40s and Franzia or Bud Light, but you know, late/​tired/​cold/​unpacking, wasn’t going to be picky. The wine selection is decent (I got a great Riesling for $ 7 or $ 8 and have gotten it a few times since, cold, to boot!), and there are enough craft beers to choose from (was expecting zero). If you don’t want to cross town to Buy Rite and are perhaps in your car running errands anyway and don’t want to try to find street parking in town, give this place a shot. Prices are good, too!

Solid selection. Bargain prices. Conveniently located on the way to The Foundry where I get a good portion of my drinking done.
The place is clean, cheap and the staff always ask if I need help finding something. They have a wide selection of beer and liquor… even the elusive Colt 45 six-​pack of cans. I have not taken that close of a look into the wine selection, but looked pretty standard.
Did I mention this place is cheap?

A little scary at first… some interesting characters who seem to always be lounging outside kept me away for over a year… but then the need for beers at rush hour, and not wanting to get stuck in traffic downtown, I finally took the plunge and went in to Old Colony.
I open the door, and am hit with A/​C (woohoo) and the sweet sweet sounds of Celine Dion’s «My heart will go on.» Really??! I LOLed just a little. The music was on FULL BLAST! ;)
I was surprised at the selection of beer, wine, and other adult beverages. The prices were a little higher than some places, but competitive with the area.
The cashiers we silent and a little gruff, but that is to be expected.
I would give four stars, but someone did make fun of the bow in my hair on the way out.

Love It !!! They control the people dat are outside… But the people are mad cool !!!

Make sure to have change to give on your way out after your purchase, and make it enough for a few ppl, there will be more than one in need Im sure.

Interesting people are always hanging out around this liquor store. Whether you want a 40 or a pint a brown bag, they have what you need. Be sure to visit on a Friday or Saturday evening after dark.
