Renato’s Pizza Masters

Renato’s is best pizza in Jersey city. The people here is everything you want a jersey Italian food restaurant to be, friendly, knows everyone, family like. I have had and love their shrimp Parmesan sandwich, any of their pizzas and must have garlic knots. I highly recommend Renato’s!

Hands down, one of the best pizzas I have ever had! I grew up eating Pizza Masters and although I have since moved from Jersey City, my family and I still pick a few slices whenever we’re back in the area.
The pizza is perfectly crispy, the sauce is authentic and there’s nothing quite like it, and the cheese… the cheese is absolutely delicious! When you put all these components together, you definitely have the perfect pizza slice.
What I love about this place is the consistency. I have had this pizza since I was about 5 or 6 and the pizza STILL tastes exactly how it did all those years ago. Besides their pizza, they have great pastas and appetizers but no matter what items I get off the menu, a slice of pizza is definitely a must! :)

I haven’t been in Pizza Masters since I’m about 15 years old. The pizza is still great! The business was brisk and service was excellent. Next time I plan to check out the restaurant for a sit down dinner. Happy to hear it’s the same owner from the 70’s. The look of the place may have changed from my old St. Nicks days, but the quality of the pizza hasn’t changed.

Knocking off one star since Pizza Masters took away free sodas with the order of a large pie and increased prices on everything on the menu. Love their pizza, but the difference between ordering from here and somewhere else was the free soda and great prices. Now, not so much. I’d rather go somewhere else with equally good (or better) pizza. Sorry Pizza Masters, it’s been a great 5 years.

My all time favorite spot… I been eating here for a few years now & not only do they have the best pizza, the food here is absolutely delicious & reasonably priced. If you sit in the dining room you’ll be pleasantly surprised at this local gem!

This is at the top of my take out list! Pizza and pastas are delicious! They really know what they are doing. Also, they usually deliver within 15 – 20 minutes! It doesn’t get any better than this.

Since it was the first time, I ordered delivery. Had I known, I would have risked taking the trip to Grandmother’s house earlier, because the Grandma was the best pie, ever. There was debate: was it the sauce? The garlicky crust? The slab of fresh mozzarella on every slice? Was it the ratio of it all?
I’m so sad that it took 15 years of living in Jersey City and a move away to discover the familial tastes of the Heights. Forget those younger generations downtown. Nothing comes close to remembrance.

Dear Pizza Masters,
I am sorry for the last 5 years I have not reviewed you. I call you pretty much every other week and you always give me amazing food and quick delivery. The girl at the counter is super efficient and always helpful with choices. Even the delivery guy has gone out of his way when i was pregnant to trek up 6 flights of stairs when our damn elevator was broken. I think there was only one thing, the stuffed mushrooms i didnt prefer but holy cow everything else-​the chicken francaise, the pizza pies, daily specials, garlic knots, chicken marsala, meatballs, parm heroes, the gravy and your soups are so good. And when i’m being picky, they have no problem in accommodating. I’d like to think that as an Italian I can be picky when it comes to my people’s food and this place serves out quality thats affordable without cutting corners. Buon lavoro!
I will work there in exchange for dinner.

Great food, restaurant area is nice when you dine in but, try calling in for an order and you get nasty service. Some girls answer with an attitude, correct your order for you after you tell them what you want and speak in a manner lacking customer service. As a business I’m sure a certain amount of politeness and courtesy is expected. And I’m not even having it delivered! I’m picking it up!

I actually think Renato’s is by far the best pizza I have tried in The Heights! This might sound weird but I think it tastes better than it looks. I’m a big pizza snob and I love

I haven’t had a great slice since moving out of the Heights and after a recent UYE, I miss Renato’s Pizza Masters even more. The team at Renato’s brought out their A+ game for a recent UYE (see reviews here:

Extra props for converting me to a Sicilian pizza lover. I’m a thin-​crust kinda girl and generally dismiss the thicker-​crusted pies as «too bready» but Renato’s was light and fluffy, not overly sauced. Also a fan of the Grandma Pie; avoid if you don’t like garlic but I loved the bold flavors in the sauce and had a good amount of cheese in each bite.
Many thanks to Mark and his team for going above and beyond for top notch food and service. They came out #1 in our Pizza Showdown and they’ll stay #1 in my heart (and stomach).

Sad and excited at the same time. Sad because it took me this long to find a good Italian place excited because its local and awesome. They have been around for years and born and raised in Jersey City and not knowing is a damn shame. I will be a regular

One of favorite places for Italian food.
Service is always very good. Food here is great. Parking is tough. Look to park across the street. Never had a bad meal and prices are reasonable. I recommend anything on the menu.

I’ve found my favorite pizza in the Heights! It’s so good! I’ve always felt we had limited choices here in terms of pizza, not anymore! Can’t wait to try their other dishes. I’ve lived here for 4 years and everytime I walk past the place it’s packed, for good reason. Kind of sorry it took me so long to try it.

Renato’s Pizza Master has been a fixture in the Jersey City Heights area for decades now. I sometimes work in the area and have ordered many of their delicious treats. Here are my «goto’s»:
*Their Grilled Chicken Salad is plentiful and delicious garnished with olives and julienne carots, with their house made Italian dressing…$bargain for the price!
*The White Bean & Escarole soup is also very good.
*The Grilled Chicken Focaccia sandwich is one of the best deals in Jersey City Heights and it’s delicious. Its grille chicken breast sliced thin with lettuce & tomatoes I provolone mayo and pesto. It also comes with Seasoned Waffle Fries for under $ 10. It’s a great deal. i typically order this sandwich without lettuce… I just think hot lettuce is just wrong! This sandwich is delicious my friends.
As for the Pizza and the entrees… they’re «AIGHT»! But I do like their Margarita slice!

Renato’s is a go to spot for pizza delivery when I’m up in the heights.
They serve up a classic New York slice. Ask for it well done– sometimes the crust can be too chewy and not crunchy enough for my taste. The prices are cheaper then most other local pizza joints in the area. Another nice, and sort of quirky bonus is that any large pie comes with a tupperware container filled with fountain soda. It’s sort of weird to drink out of tupperware… but is certainly appreciated nonetheless :)
More than just pizza here, there is also a wide selection of sandwiches and calzones. The chicken parm hero is fantastic! Overall, a solid pizza delivery pick for a fair price. Ya definitely can’t go wrong here.

This place has free parking which is a huge plus here in the heights as parking especially during dinner hours is very difficult. So if you want to dine in and not want to spend hours looking for a spot this is your place.
As for the food, the food here is excellent, I especially love the chicken parm with penne vodka. Its always prepared right and the sauce is perfect every time.
If you are just in the mood for pizza or ordering deliver for pizza only, Gino’s has better pizza. Dont get the wrong idea, pizza here is great and they do give you a pint of Pepsi in a soup plastic container. I told them numerous times not to send it but it comes every time. I dont even bother telling them not to send it anymore.
Pizza and food is very reasonably priced. Delivery is always 30 – 40 minutes and food arrives hot and packaged properly.

I’m updating my review to 5 stars because this place is insanely good. I’ve never been to the restaurant in the back but the pizzeria part is awesome.
5 stars because the food is great and the prices are insane, especially given how huge their portions are.
There are 2 things I would specifically recommend ordering:
1. Antipasto salad: I first had this when my friend ordered it and I am so glad she did as I normally wouldn’t get this on my own. I have since ordered it again and it hasn’t disappointed. This thing is MASSIVE with rolled meat, cheese, and roasted pepper thing as well as additional salami, hardboiled eggs, fresh mozzarella, all on top of a huge salad. Dressing is on the side and it comes with what looked like half a loaf of bread. I highly suggest ordering this.
2. Grandma pizza: their regular slices are decent but this is perfection. Perfect crispy crust, perfect slightly sweet sauce, perfect amount of cheese so that it isn’t overbearing and you can enjoy the sauce and crust. I will order this every time.
The other menu items I’ve had are probably around 4 stars but given how great those are along with their amazing prices, they get 5 stars. I also can’t remember having a better slice of pizza recently than their grandma slice so there’s that.
