Review is for the coffee. Horrible tasting coffee — a shame to the Seattle name. Small cup is 1.75. Not recommended. Sorry guys but you need to improve a lot in coffee section.

This is a pitiful cup of regular coffee. No flavor at all. I don’t really understand why there is so much bad coffee in this country. It’s not that hard yo make a good cup of coffee if you care even a little. Get a good roast, master your measurement, add some spring water and bam. If you like good coffee, no not Dunkin Donuts grade water with odd coffee flavoring, avoid this place and it’s fluorescent lights and un inviting atmosphere.

I’m only basing my review on breakfast since I haven’t tried their lunch, but for $ 6 something to get a western omelette platter, home fries, turkey bacon, whole wheat bread and a decent selection of coffee flavors(vanilla hazelnut my preference) you just can’t go wrong. Staff is friendly and very quick so yes I’m confused as to why this place only has two stars 0_o No negative experiences so far and I go every other day

With a name like«Seattle Coffee Roasters» you would think they have good coffee… Wrong! The woman who takes the breakfast orders shouts at you… the woman who works the register has an attitude. They are so stingy with napkins. They literally will not give you a napkin unless you ask for one. The tiled floor is filthy. It has the potential to be so much better.

I came here once to try the salad bar as a friend of mine said he liked it better than Fresca. I think it’s about the same but they have a few different chicken types — I have been getting the pesto chicken. I also stopped by one morning for iced coffee and it kept me running the whole day… Someone else I know says she comes here once a week to get their burrito… I’m not there yet tho… :)

Maybe 3.5 stars — this is a review for lunch only. Lovingly called«SCR» around my office, this is a fine lunch place among limited options in Newport. You have to take Seattle Coffee Roasters for what it is. It’s not trying to be a café, diner, or deli… it’s really just a convenient takeout place with no ambiance and decent food. It is moderately priced, and has a «frequent salad» card where you can get your 11th salad free after the first ten. Not bad and I prefer their salads over Cosi. SCR also has a burrito/fajita/burger option. I often get«fajita» fillings on a plate if I’m not in the mood for salad. So for $ 7-$ 8 I will have a plate of grilled chicken(which is never dry), rice, beans, guacamole/pico de gallo with a little shredded cheese. Their soups are hit or miss. I wish they would stay away from the seafood soups as they never smell quite right and they do chicken and beef-based soups well. No credit card minimum that I’m aware of, and a friendly staff.

They are so cheap at this place. They count the pieces of chicken and are so stingy with everything else. Since there aren’t too many options around the area, sometimes you ar forced to go there. I hate giving them my business.

One of the multiple choices for breakfast options in this vicinity, they have a menu board out front that advertises a two egg, toast and coffee breakfast for $ 2.95. I’m usually in too much of a rush to sit, so I don’t even bother with the hot food. Instead, I go to the separate coffee station and get a muffin to go with a large coffee. Less than $ 4 is a good deal. Bonus: In addition to «coffee» in an urn, they also have a half-dozen coffee pots with flavored brews including Hazelnut, Chocolate, Irish Coffee and the like.

During my recent trip to Jersey City, I was excited to see an independent coffee shop right across the street from my hotel. Things got busy, however, and I didn’t make it over there until my last morning before returning to Charlotte. It turns out that the missed days were no great loss. Independent or not, the space is large and feels like a fast food restaurant. They have a standard assortment of breakfast goods; the banana muffin I had was pretty run-of-the-mill. However, the biggest disappointment for me was the coffee. It’s watery and flavorless. Despite the shop’s name, I very much doubt they’re roasting their own beans. The Starbucks in my hotel lobby had much better coffee, and Starbucks coffee sucks! You have better options for your morning kick-start. Oh, there’s a «Mexican grill» menu for lunch. I didn’t get the chance to try it, but if it’s as bland as the coffee, I wouldn’t bother.

As the dreaded Californian with preset standards about what I can digest, I come to our Jersey City office often enough to start forming opinions about the nearby eateries. This barely qualifies as one as I have stopped here a couple of times before heading into the building next door. But hey, they serve Mexican for lunch, so it must be a fiesta of fun in here, right? Not so much, especially in the morning when everyone looks fit to be tied, especially the office workers who can’t be bothered to be cordial to the servers. I’ve come here a couple of times for a bite of breakfast and got the same thing, the $ 2.25 Egg with Sausage on a Roll, which is like an Egg McMuffin with no personality or even enough grease to make it a guilty pleasure(see photo). It’s exactly what it is and nothing more. But hey, sometimes you just want to avoid the crowd at Cosi next door where the production line can seem endless just before the morning whistle blows. Will I come here again? Oh probably. It ain’t as if Jersey City is the culinary capital of the Mid-Atlantic seaboard. Hey, don’t put that cement overcoat on me! FOOD — 2 stars… barely edible breakfast roll AMBIANCE — 2 stars… well, cell block #7 is over there SERVICE — 2 stars… fairly tight-lipped TOTAL — 2 stars… for those who dread going to their cubes in the morning
