Who would have thought an Asian-fusion restaurant could throw the most kick-ass wedding? Every aspect exceeded our expectations and the final product was a day we’ll never forget. The staff was incredible, the food was incredible, the intimacy was incredible… you see where this is going. Our guests had a wonderful time and we received compliments on everything from the wait-staff, to the food, to the venue. Highly recommend TALDEJC as not only a restaurant, but as an event venue.

Talde was recommended to me by friends. So I figured why not try this place out. On a Thursday night, a group of friends and I grabbed a seat at the bar. The bar was not busy at all(only 4 other people), we assumed we would get«great service». However, I was completely embarrassed and had to apologize to my friends fro dragging them there because the service was completely«horrible». 1) It took 10−15mins to get a bartender’s attention. Mind you there were like 3 of them and a security guard by the bar. The hostess could have said something! 2) By the time the someone came to us. That bartender was pushy and rushy and very«sarcastic»! I asked for recommendations and I got an attitude! 3) After our food came. Not one time were we checked up on! He simply ignored us 4) It got to a point where we had to stop another bartender to bring us the check! We had enough. We wanted to order more food and drinks but we just closed the tab and end up going to another place! Not coming back anytime soon. Unless they change the service!!!

Surprised that Unilocalers only give this place 3.5 stars. It surely deserves more good reviews than that. The best Asian fusion food I have so far. Nothing could have wowed me more that Talde, and believe me I have eaten much Asian food. Hence, I will give all the stars there are for this place. The locals definitely love this place. We came in at 9:30pm on Friday, and there was a 45 mins wait. Determined to try out the food, so we grabbed seats by the wall near the bar. The restaurant is spacey and lovely with low lit lights, high ceiling and wide windows. Unlike many restaurants in Manhattan, seating here is roomy with big wooden tables and chairs. As we finally got some seating at the bar, we ordered Mc Bao, Vietnamese Garlic Shrimp and Blue Crab Fried Rice. My friend wanted to try the Mc Bao, the bartender recommended Vietnamese Garlic Shrimp, and I got the Blue Crab Fried Rice with my trust in the Unilocal community. Mc Bao is Chinese steamed bun with the char siu boneless ribs and pickles in the middle. The ribs is warm, crispy outside, moist and juicy inside and abundant in flavor. Have you tried the salt from the instant noodle package? I would imagine something similar was sprinkled on this pork after fried. The pork was done perfectly well. What a great dish! I was like«wow» and slowed down my chewing in order to fully enjoy its flavor. Vietnamese Garlic Shrimp was very good as well. I’m a Vietnamese, and let me tell you: the sauce they have in this salad is definitely a Vietnamese-kind of sauce(fish sauce, vinegar, sugar and chili). Blue Crab Fried Rice is yummy. It is cooked exactly how I like it. It has no unnecessary ingredients like peas, carrots or sausages. Straight forward and simple with butter, enough garlic and salt. Never had crab meats in fried rice before, but it worked out just fine with real crab meat. Yes! It is very much comparable to my mom’s tasty and no-bull-shit fried rice. I should have asked to meet the chef. Hope he/she will stay with the place for a while, because I will go back to Jersey City just for this!

I came here for a friends birthday on a Saturday night. The décor is beautiful. It has a rustic/modern vibe. We ordered several different items off the menu for the group to share. In the appetizers section we ordered the #6 Bao which was a spicy chicken and was tasty. Another appetizer was Yuzu Guacamole which was similar to sushi veg roll and pretty average. Entrees we ordered the broccoli and steak which was okay at best. The side of crab fried rice was definitely the best thing on the menu and what I would recommend getting. Overall I was not impressed and this place reminded me of a high end version of PF Changs.

Fabulous food and outstanding drinks, but seriously lacking in the service department. Our server looked impatient and preoccupied the entire time. We asked to put in our dinner order after our apps but he said that he would make sure everything was paced and to order everything at the same time. There were four of us and we ordered 5 apps and 3 entrees(all are family style so we shared everything). Every app came out at the same time. If your food can’t fit on the table, you are not pacing correctly. Then our entrees came out as we started our apps. When the waiter came over I said that everything was coming out too quickly. He was unapologetic and asked if we wanted more drinks. Nothing was removed from the table and we couldn’t finish most of the food bc there was honestly too much at once. Just bummed bc this could easily have been a 5 star dinner if our server cared a bit more.

Awesome fusion food. Food in level of preference: bacon pad Thai, chicken wing waffle, sausage egg cheese friend rice. Thought the Filipino fried rice was just okay, tasted like any other Chinese fried rice, but saltier. Pretzel dumplings and tater tots are great too.

Food was different than what we usually have at Asian restaurants. Our waiter was very helpful in suggesting courses. He recommended sharing as the portion sizes are big enough. We had the Pork buns(Mc Bao) which were delicious. Meat was flavorful. For our entrée, we got the Korean fried chicken and the blue crab fried rice. Listed as a side, the blue crab fried rice can be shared between 2 – 3 people which is great! It tastes delicious! I wasn’t too impressed with the Korean fried chicken as there was very little meat and a lot of flour. Nonetheless the sauce in which they served the chicken was great! Worth a visit!

When I tell people I live in JC, people always mention this place. I have tried to go for dinner twice before and opted to not wait the 1 – 2 hr wait time. I’ve been to Miss Wong’s(speakeasy cocktail lounge in the basement) before so I have had the opportunity to try their cocktails so I’ve been eager to try Talde out. Miss Wong’s is not to be missed as it has excellent cocktails albeit at NYC prices($ 12+). Love the décor and environment of Talde as it was cozy and hip but comfortable. The bar is massive and takes up almost half the restaurant. Plenty of places to sit and stand around the bar. The other half of the restaurant are tables/booths and a large community table. Felt very spacious. Menu is divided by appetizers, noodles, main dishes, side dishes and the waitstaff make a big deal about how it’s «sharing style» and dishes will come out as ready. I don’t think appetizers or dish sizes were any different than other places in the area. Waitstaff was attentive though we did start w/one waiter and end with another. We split the yuzu guac(no ham) for appetizer. Delicious sticky crispy rice w/excellent spice and guac on top. They only give you 4 bites but a very good start to the meal. Highly recommended. We split the oyster/bacon pad thai and salmon. Salmon came w/3 big pieces with black bean brown butter, edamame, and clementines. Very good flavor including a touch of sweet in the sauce and well cooked salmon pieces. They gave a generous portion of edamame which I loved. The oyster/bacon pad thai was not your traditional pad thai as it had more flavor and spice than typical. However, it was a bit over spiced and noodle heavy so the proteins sort of felt lost. Prices are a bit higher than other places in the neighborhood($ 15 – 30) as an FYI. Overall, I felt it was a good meal and loved the unique takes on standard Asian fair, def will be making a return trip!

The first Talde I went to was in Brooklyn. All there plates are like tapas. If it says entrée’s, it is still the size of tapas. I was told that the entrees are for like 2 people. When we got the entrees, it was definitely not even enough for one person. The food is not up to par with the middle class looking place they got going on. The place definitely has more potential. They need an improve their menu because it is not catching my eye or making me want to come back for more. I would not come back again, but if I do it would only be for drinks.

Came here for dinner last night. Initially we were told that there would be ~30 min wait which was to be expected for a late Saturday night, but luckily we were seated after waiting no less than 10 minutes. First on the menu was some really interesting drinks, which for me was the best part of the restaurant. I had the Plum Basil Margarita and the BF got the Lychee martini. which i strongly suggested since I was curious to try it and heard from another customer that it was really good. While the drinks are pricey($ 10 – 12), and on the smaller side, they had great flavor. As far as food goes, I would say this is the hype of the restaurant let me down a little bit. The waiter suggested that most of the options on the menu are intended to be shared, so each couple collaborated and ordered 2 dishes. I picked the Filipino BBQ Pork and BF ordered the Fried Oyster and Bacon Pad Thai. The waiter suggested that we order a side because the Pork came A la carte. So as a table we ordered the veggie fried rice. Between the two dishes, the pad thai was definitely the winner. While the pork wasn’t bad, it wasn’t anything special either. And having to order a side for an already higher priced dish wasn’t very appealing to me. Service overall was great though. Waiters checked in throughout the meal to check how things were going without being too pushy, extra touches like folding your napkin when you get up from the table to use the restroom. In the end, glad I got to try it out, but probably would not come back here again.

The food here was so amazing!!! I was fortunate enough to come with a larger group so we ordered almost everything on the menu and honestly there was nothing I didn’t like. My favorite was the #6 Bao. I could have eaten about 10 of them they were so amazing. The pad Thai is also really good. Fried oysters in pad Thai?! Such a great combination. The pretzel dumplings are amazing as are the wings. I really cannot say anything bad about the food. The space is huge and good for groups. They put us(a group of 10 adults) in a booth which was really tight at the beginning but they ended up putting a table at the end so we had more space. There is a community table as well. Loved it here and will definitely be back for more!

My first time here. Customer service was great. Nicole our waitress took her time to explain the menu. She broke down the menu for sharing dishes and appetizers. Thumbs up for the service. Very attentive but not over bearing. Food is a Asian fusion. Got Reuben rolls which was tasty. Wife got the Filipino fried rice. Good on flavor. We also got the ramen noodles. It’s like liquid silk butter sauce. I have to say. Very tasty with the noodles. We got the pretzel bites which was good. I thought the mustard was too spicy though. This place is a tapas place so it’s family share. I probably would suggest a little bigger serving size for the price. But definitely doesn’t break the wallet. Would definitely come back.

Located nearby the PATH train, Talde is an easy destination for those who want to enjoy good food in Jersey City. Upon entering the restaurant, the lanterns caught my attention. They’re beautifully arranged over the bar area and make the bar seating more enticing. The menu is pretty short and simple. The waitress told us the food is served more family style here and so the noodles can feed 2 – 3 people. My friend and I ordered the the fried chicken appetizers, bacon pad Thai noodles, and blue crab fried rice. Out of all the dishes we got I really enjoyed the blue crab fried rice! It reminded me of Hong Kong style cuisine. There are actual chunks of crab covered in a mayo like sauce in the rice. The food was definitely more than we could eat which wasn’t bad for a little more than $ 20 each. Next time I’ll definitely like to try the cocktails and sit at the bar!

After hearing good things about the Brooklyn location, we had to try Talde out when it opened last year. The décor around the bar is very unique — very cool spot to bring friends from out of town for drinks. Food-wise, the selection is a bit pricy for what you get. We picked out a few different small plates such as the pretzel pork & chive dumplings, Mc Bao, beef short rib kare kare, and crispy oyster and bacon pad thai. Pretty creative combinations overall with some interesting flavor profiles — salt level was a bit higher than we would have liked, though. If I were to go back to Talde, it would likely be for drinks and for the ambience — and maybe a small bite. For a full dinner there are better options in JC.

Getting on Top Chef and staying there is hard. Opening a restaurant that is popular with the stroller crowd in Park Slope that becomes popular enough to warrant an opening in Jersey City is harder. Talde, the brainchild of Top Chef contestant Dale Talde, serves up pan Asian food, from Japanese inspired ramen dishes to thai wings, bao buns, and even Korean Fried Chicken. The space here is huge, more like a warehouse, though the atmosphere is still personal and warm, inviting you in. Paper lanterns and the obligatory hipster Edison bulbs light the space and buddha heads line the booths. Service was exceptionally attentive, not only checking in on us at least every 10 minutes, but even letting me know that the happy hour was about to end so I should order another beer now rather than waiting 5 minutes. The food is an excellent variety of Asian fusion, encompassing the sweet and tangy to the spicy to the fruity. The wings were Thai inspired with a hot and sweet sauce complete with peanuts. The sauce glazed well and provided a nice crisp skin. The #6 Bao, which must be better than #1−5, is a tasty slice of fried chicken on a fluffy bao bun with a light topping of sauce. Go nuts with the hot sauce on the table too if you’re adventurous. The oyster and bacon noodles were a great take on Japanese noodle dishes with some extra crispy texture, and the bacon, while not overwhelming, was sublime. The Korean Fried Chicken, a must order, is deliciously crispy, moist, and tender. The sauce it lays on is tangy, and can be kicked up a notch with the hot sauce. The beer menu is not huge, but has some good choices, and is even better when half price during happy hour. A Brooklyn Sorachi Ace goes great with the spicy flavors. The wine menu is huge as well.

I’m not sure how Talde isn’t getting better reviews! I love this place! The menu is anything but typical and the drinks are creative and flavorful. It blows the other restaurants in its vicinity out of the park in terms of flavor and interesting dishes. The dim sum style of the menu allows you to choose multiple dishes for really reasonable prices in terms of the quality of the food. Each dish that I’ve had tasted totally unique and left me anxious for the next dish to come out. Some of my favorite menu items are the beef short rib kare kare(after you have this you will dream about the sauce) and the tuna tartar spring rolls. This restaurant is a great date spot or a nice place to bring out of town guests as it really shows the progression of Jersey City restaurants.

One of my family members had their birthday gathering at Talde about two months ago. They are located right off of Newark Ave and Erie Street. It’s a terrific place for events because of the open space. I like the way they have the large picnic like table for accommodating large or small parties and booths along the walls for something a little more intimate. The service is great along with their remarkable food choices. The food selection of the night was: Pretzel Pork & Chive Dumplings Kimchee Dumplings Tuna Tartare Spring Rolls #6 Bao Kale Salad Beef Short Rib Kare Kare Korean Fried Chicken Whole Roasted Branzino Wok Charred Greens Cashew Vegetable Fried Rice My favorite dishes of the night were the Kale Salad, Korean Fried, Cashew Vegetable Fried Rice, and #6 which was the fish if I’m not mistaken. As we were socializing and catching up with one another, there was always someone asking us if we needed anything to drink. After eating and drinking upstairs, we went downstairs for a little karaōke and more drinks. If my memory serves me correctly, that was a good night and I’m sure there will be plenty more here at Talde in the future.

Let’s see, I spotted you because you were popping from tons of customers, had plenty of outdoor seating and colorful hip vibe. The restaurant is huge and can accommodate tons of people at any given point. We arrived during happy hour time, so we choose the Watermelon martini that was $ 6.50, it was filled with sour mix and tequila, not an ounce of watermelon flavor & regular price is $ 13.ouchhh I wish it was even good to charge that much. Service was a bit lacking, somewhat attentive but a bit confused and unaware of what’s going on. It took a very long time for everything to arrive at the table. The appetizers, which was all that was ordered took a good 30 –40 minutes to come out which was absolutely ridiculous. On the upside, the food was delicious! Yes, delicious! The chicken boa was crispy, with a warm steamed bun, pipping hot and damn did I want more, like a huge sandwich of it, for 4 bites at $ 11 was a bit hefty. The short rib boa was great too, very tender, had a hint of BBQ flavoring, just had a tad bit of fat but still great. The roti bread was filled with seasonings you would find on an everything bagel. It was at a low price of $ 4, perfectly cooked, crispy with a nice buttery finish. Food overall was outstanding, no complaints at all. Is this place a bit overpriced? Yes Delicious food? Yes, 100% Due to the long ticket times, we were offered a round of drinks, so that was a nice gesture on there end. I do like this place but they have to hire more chefs and train servers a bit better. Otherwise, this place is great with amazing food, creative lighting and a great happy hour!

Stumbled upon Talde during a Jersey City bike ride and it was a nice place to refuel. Unfortunately came during brunch so the menu was very limited but I love small plates and brunch is small plates. The pretzel pork dumplings were really tasty. They come with a hot mustard dipping sauce. I thought the«pretzel» portion of the dumplings(aka the salt on the outside) was unnecessary because the pork filling itself is salty enough and so tasty. But that’s not my call. The crispy avocado bao wasn’t amazing. It was my first time having bao and i really liked it. It’s fluffy and bread-like and had a nice sweetness to it. The avocado part I didn’t like because it was fried. Avocado is so good and frying it just makes it bad. Sad face. Lastly, we had the spring rolls(which are friend) with chicken and shrimp that came with a soy dipping sauce. Those were good!

Ever since moving in to Jersey City, anyone who hears the news has urged me to try Talde. Although I’ve mainly heard that brunch is the move, I needed a dinner spot for a celebratory meal, and Talde seemed like the perfect place for a chic special occasion dinner. The décor is cozy and romantic. There is dark lighting and small and intimate tables strewn about the room. They also have long open air tables, which would definitely work well for a group meal. On a Friday at 8:30, there was about a half an hour wait. Naturally, this meant pre-dinner cocktails at the bar. I had a rum drink with lime and grapefruit juice and it was very refreshing! I noticed that there was also a bar menu which offered a few of their small plates for snacking. We were seated a bit before the 30 minute wait time and ended up in a super spacious corner booth. Because it was our first time at Talde, our waiter took a few minutes to explain portion size and which dishes are meant to be shared. He promised to let us know if we over or under ordered! We went with two small plates and a large plate which was the perfect amount of food for the two of us. In all honesty, so many of the small plates sounded great that next time I think I’d rather just go with a few more of those, and forgo a large plate. Both small plates were fantastic and our main dish was just so-so. What we ordered: –Steamed short rib pork buns. Otherwise known as the MC Bao. These were absolutely perfect. Instead of a traditional round bun they were square shaped which I thought was interesting. The meat was tender and juicy and the pickled cucumber and onion added just the right amount of crunch. –Kung Pow chicken wings. Hot, crispy, crunchy and delicious. There was some crushed peanut and scallion mixed into the breading and the sauce was sweet and flavorful with just a hint of spicy. This was served with buttermilk ranch on the side which I thought was an interesting choice at an Asian inspired restaurant. It did work really well though. –Beef chow fun. This dish was not so fun. It was a bowl of hot beef with a big fat spiral of chow fun noodle in the center. Basically, you let the noodle clump sit for a bit and then mix it into the beef. It tasted like some sort of weird goulash and didn’t feel sexy like all of Talde’s other dishes. The small plates are pretty cheap(7 – 9 dollars) and with one drink each this meal was about 60 dollars. Really not terrible at all. Before heading out we went downstairs to check out the speakeasy. It was suhweeeet! Wasn’t in the mood for more drinking but I’ll be back soon, I’m sure of it. I’ll also be back soon for brunch! I want some of that bacon pad thai and fried chicken and waffle goodness!
