Why do all the best places close? This was in business for over 40 years and stayed true to the German culture. Will be missed. :(

WORSE dining out EVER! Not sad to see this place close. They didn’t plan for the soldout crowd(it was known before the doors opened Saturday that the entire hall was sold out). Should have had MOREOFEVERYTHING! 4 of the things I ordered where out! there was ample time for this business to be better prepared. :(

If I could rate this place a 0 I would. Things to expect from Blobs Park: Terrible service. It took 40 minutes to get menus, another 30 to 40 minutes to place the order. 2 and a half hours to get to me and say they were out of the food I ordered. I gratefully declined to give them my money and declined to pick a new entrée. Bleh food. For those who got food it tasted as if it sat in the window for 15 to 20 minutes. My friend who usually eats everything put in front if him did not finish his food. The waitress could not even remember what people ordered. The experience you go for, ie dancing or hanging out was fine. The group I was with enjoyed themselves a lot. The only hiccup was the broken glass the place left on the ground for about an hour. Nice… Summary: don’t come here hungry, don’t come expecting good food, come because your friends want to participate in the events going on at blobs.

Came here with friends last night for the Oktoberfest and some polka dancing and had a blast. Judging from the rating disparities, I’ve decided that there are people who fundamentally get it and people who just don’t. This charming, anachronistic German banquet hall provided an experience unlike anything else I’ve encountered in suburban MD(or anywhere or that matter.) I was a little nervous and uncertain when we first stepped in, the polka music blaring and avid dancers galloping around the dance floor, but we were quickly put at ease by the old time charm of the place. Apparently, this is the first site of Oktoberfest in the US. The Alt Washingtonia Schuhplatters, preformed authentic(and amusing) dances, songs, and musical numbers involving perfectly tuned cowbells. The band came on in between segments and played polkas, waltzes and a little bit of rock and roll. The regulars who come really know how to boogie and you just might be asked to dance. We are vegetarian, so can’t really comment on the food. My guess is it isn’t too special since the friends we went with didn’t say anything about their dinners. We had the German chocolate cake, which the spouse joked was Sarah Lee, but whatever it was good. Service was eh. Didn’t see our waitress too much. Good selection of German beers on tap and bottle. Spouse thought the draft beers were a little off and vinegar-y and advises to stick to the the bottles. I think we’ll definitely be back. Way better Oktoberfest destination than the large, impersonal festivals that charge entry fees.

We lived in Germany for 3 years and I can tell you that the food here is not what I expected. It was okay, but seemed thrown together and possibly pre-cooked or was frozen. I wouldn’t go for the food. I liked the music that was playing when we went and the weizen beer though. As for the atmosphere, an older crowd and the place itself is out dated with storage visible from the dining area which I thought was weird. Our waitress actually asked us as she brought us our food«Is this what you ordered?» She explained how she was new so I’m guessing that they don’t train their staff very well. Awkward. I would only go back for the bar & live music. OH. and there was a 20 dollar cover fee that we weren’t aware of bc of the band so look out for that.

This is THE place to celebrate October Fest! I had such a great time. I can’t remember the last time I ate so much hearty food… The live entertainment was excellent. Looking forward to next year’s festivities.

Me and my dogs were here for Strut your Mutt(thanks! Unilocal Baltimore — Awesome). Blob’s place was a field day for my dogs because of lots of grass and surprisingly, the grounds and bathroom were clean. We enjoyed the open space but the pavillion and restaurant buildings were outdated. It would be nice to have them renovated to attract more crowds because as you know when a place is beautiful, people will come.
