Bavarian’s Restaurant

This restaurant is AMAZING! The food is incredible! We drive from St. Simons Island to eat here and it never disappoints! Our pants are mad at us afterwards but it is worth it!

If you want to eat some real home cooked German food then this is the place for you. Please understand that home cooking means you sit patiently and drink a few beers until your food arrives. So, if you are hungry you better order a pretzel or two. They are soft and buttery, ask for the cheese spread.
If you have no patience, please for the sake of us other patrons, take your complaints about the wait down to the fast food restaurant of your choice. You will be missing out on heaps of home fries, German potato salad, and schnitzel that melts in your mouth.

This was our first visit here and plan to return. There were six of us and we all got something different to share. All the dishes were great. Authentic German beer also.

We were gooing to see a drive in with the kid, so decided to stop here for something nice. What a bad choice.
There were maybe a dozen people here, so not packed. We sat down, and didnt get drinks in for 15 min. Drinks didnt come for another 15. When they came, we finally got to order. Then we waited. 30 minutes, nothing and empty drinks. 45 minutes, same deal. We ended up leaving cash on the table and leaving after waiting an HOUR after we ordered, with no drink refills
I saw another review here that echoed this that was removed, not sure why. But our experience was not in any sense good. Looks like we’ll be eating somewhere else from now on. Too bad. We were hoping thisd be a good place.

Having a German wife and having been stationed in Germany, this place is simply amazing. We come here often and it’d always amazing. Is Jesup has a hidden gem, this is it. Simply amazing. Highly recommended.

I have some friends that love the Bavarian. We went back and the food was better. The service was great again, the owner is really nice and comes to chat with all her patrons.
I still think they are a little overprices and the décor could use an update.

Been there 3 times, the food and service was great each time. After reading some of the negative reviews I want to let everyone know that this is a family run restaurant. That means the cook is the husband, the prep is the wife and the service are the girls who work part-​time. If they get a bunch of people at once they are going to break down. Sometimes you have to give up something to get homemade German Food and Drink. Throw some German at the owner and you’ll get first class service…

This restaurant is just like being back in Bamberg Germany. The owners are from Forcheim Germany, which is in the German state of Bavaria. It is authentic german food. It’s a little more expensive then what you would pay for in Germany. But however extremely delicious, and the warsteiner beer is amazing german beer. Be careful though. German beer is 3 x more potent than german beer. I will come to this place as often as I can. Great service, great food, and great beer. Definitely come here for real good german food. I can’t tell you enough how amazing this place is.

Never Again.
I wanted to love this place and have a great go to german restaurant in the area. But the problems started early and never stopped.
The food was horrible, nothing on any of our plates seemed fresh. my bratwurst were 2 hot dog sized sausages one burnt to a crisp the other raw served on fresh from the can sauerkraut.
It was extremely over priced $ 60 for a meat appetizer, 2 small main dishes and 2 non alcoholic drinks.
That took over an hour and a half for service in a slow restaurant…

Best German food I’ve ever had, and it’s in my home town. I guess some people are just blessed. The staff and owners are amazing and very accommodating. The prices are far considering the amount you get.

I read Doug B,‘s review. When we went, we were the only people there like he was on his first visit. Service was quick, the food was served at the proper temperature. I can see where there could be issues if the restaurant is busy; it has a small kitchen, and most menu items are not cooked until they have been ordered, It has a few tables that could be combined for a large group, but there would not be room for two groups. It has booth seating along the outer walls. The price I paid was less than $ 30.00, (and brought about ½ the entrée home) which included an appetizer, entrée and alcohol (and brought about ½ the entrée home). His rating of speedy is too high. Yes, there are a couple of menu items which cost more than $ 30.00, but they are for multiple persons. So, the most important question: would I return. Absolutely, and I would be comfortable taking another couple to enjoy a small, intimate dinner. It’s like most places with great food, you should be prepared for a wait if there is a crowd.
