My boyfriend’s Aunt was going on about coming here for the homemade ice cream, and for someone like myself who can eat ice cream regardless of the temperature, I was more than pleased. The overall location is in a quite little shop filled town, and the building that this shop is in has some additional stores in it as well. The owner of the shop was the one who served us-he was very personable, and incredibly friendly. So many flavors of ice cream to choose from! If ice cream isn’t your craving that day, there’s plenty of different flavors of hot chocolate, chai teas, and even smoothies. Everything was delicious. I’m really glad we stopped in!

This place is just wonderful! We always stop here when we’re in JT. You can’t beat their ice cream. They have your basic flavors but also really great ones like salty and sweet, pumpkin pie, brownie cookie dough, Milky Way, etc. They also sell several different kinds of coffee drinks, teas and pastries that look just scrumptious! They do open later though so don’t expect to come here for your morning coffee :( There’s also additional seating outside in their little alley and in the small room attached to the main one. Edit: There’s NO minimum for credit card, and apparently they open at 9am most days. I guess it depends on when you go.

Great ice cream. Exactly what we were looking for. However, my friend got a smoothie and it was way too sweet.

My two sons and I stopped in in our DRY bathing suits, cover ups(boys looked like they had shorts and white tshirts on) and keen’s.(Driving through from Mauch Chunk lake and the boys wanted a treat.) Not only did the owner eyeball us when we walked in, but she was rather grumpy and sour with us because my 6yo took a long time to decide on his flavor. The kicker? We were the only ones in the shoppe at the time. Crappy customer service, if you ask me. Ok ice cream, price was a little over $ 3 a single cone. Ok choc chip cookie(for my son who doesn’t like ice cream and is clearly adopted), nothing special. Won’t be going back. In fact, I wanted an iced coffee for the drive home and went up the street to Strange Brew instead of back inside to Alice’s Pantry. PS — for the jerkwad who messaged me twice about my son, it’s called sarcasm. Try it on for size.

This is a cute little shop with a a very friendly older couple scooping ice cream. The décor has a mix of old timey tables and appliances with tin signs and vintage posters. For $ 2.50, you get a really generous«small» portion from up to ten flavors that were reportedly homemade. Not sure if it was true or not, but the ice cream was really tasty. It wasn’t too sweet, but still really tasty with fresh cream and add-in flavors. When we were there, the choices were among: moose tracks, triple chocolate, raspberry swirl, sweet and salty(salted caramel and pretzel in sweet cream), mint chocolate chip, etc It was clean, reasonably affordable, and very tasty

‘Charming’ doesn’t even quite cover it. It’s the place I look forward to coming to when I visit my parents in quaint Jim Thorpe, PA. Today espresso and their cozy fireplace that drew me in, but I’ll return again and again for their delish soups and fresh baked breads.

After a nice bike ride down the trails, a stop at Alice’s for some ice cream to cool off is a great treat. The mixed iced coffees are flavorful, icy and hot the spot and the multitude of ice cream flavors is sure to satisfy just about everyone. The interior is cute and quaint and reminds you of a living room that just happens to have an ice cream parlor in it. Cute space, great ice cream, convenient location.

I got the Iced Mocha Cookies and Cream drink and it was splendid. Great service and friendly vibe. My friend got the Mango Passion fruit iced tea and said it’s delicious. Highly recommended!

Mom and I went here while walking around Jim Thorpe. She had«morning rush» — coffee ice cream with oreo pieces– and she loved it. I tried a smoothie–«forbidden fruit»(guava and passion fruit) — and it was delicious. Well blended, creamy but still refreshing. Alice’s pantry – definitely worth stopping at in Jim Thorpe, PA. Atmosphere was quaint, Victorian ice cream shop and the man serving us was very friendly and helpful.

My daughter had a passion fruit smoothie that she loved. I had the«morning rush» ice cream — coffee ice cream with oreo cookies mixed in! Rich and delicious! Couple behind the counter were very friendly. Glad we stopped on our walk down main street. Jim Thorpe is an adorable little town with unique shops.

«…You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant(Pantry)…» Anything, that is, if it involved something sweet, cool and creamy or coffee. Turns out, Alice is from Fort Lee, New Jersey. She came here several years ago after retirement to start a new life as an ice cream maven and entrepreneur. She has done a fabulous job with her Victoriana café on Broadway in Mauch Chunk, a/k/a Jim Thorpe, Pa. Sadly, she is considering selling the business due to frustration over how the Borough treats its businesses. If that happens, not only this burg, but all who come to visit this historic and beautiful town will lose something very special. There is a feeling of timelessness in the Pantry. The creaky wooden floors, old signage, period designed curtains, and one hundred year old tables and chairs with matching table clothes, make this an opportunity to feel what it was like to be living here when coal was king. I can only comment on the ice cream and home brewed kaffe. The scoops are generous, and the prices more than reasonable. Three giant scoops of Fresh Peach, Banana Peanut Butter, and Black Raspberry, for $ 4.50. ‘Taint bad at all! The fresh brew with an unlimited bottom was a couple of bucks more. They did not mind if I sat there all afternoon. In fact, both Alice and her first man assistant came over to chat with me about their endeavor. I learned a lot about life in JT from them. I understood their frustration with how difficult it was to survive in a small business without the support of local government. Regardless, the ice cream was wonderfully creamy and fresh tasting. Another reviewer suggested the product here could not be homemade. Why not? Was it too good to be true? No. Just, too good! The coffee was also fine, but I did not try the fancy concoctions. My advise to everyone is to make the trip to the former«Bear Mountain»(Jim Thorpe was originally, Mauch Chunk, Lenape for«Bear Mountain,») sooner then later, as while the mountains and Lehigh River will still be there, Alice’s Pantry may not. It would be more than a shame to miss it. Make a visit, and taste the love. PS. If interested in a slice of the history of JT, check out my review of Jim Thorpe Borough on 10th Street.

LOVED this place! We stayed in Jim Thorpe from Sunday afternoon until Thursday morning, and came here every single day(except for Thursday). The first day(Sunday), the kind owner came and sat at our little table tucked in the corner and told us all about the town, where the best restaurants were, and what to see. We had our map spread on the table. The second day, he remembered us and asked how Moya’s was. The third day, I met his adorable 3-month puppy(who slipped away from the back… they were mindful of people with dog allergies or phobia’s). The fourth day, I went in again for that excellent iced coffee, but it was just after 5:00, and they were closed. The whole town tends to close at 5:00, strangely. But this little place is a gem. I wish pups were more accepted in shops, and we Americans didn’t have so many hangups. Dogs attend restaurants in Europe. I mean, if screaming babies and grubby kids are allowed, why not polite pup dogs? Just sayin’…

Coffee wise, it’s okay. I’ve tried better ones but in Jim Thorpe, their shop is one of the nicest, warmest, coziest place to visit and take a break from all the walking. The café itself is entertaining interior wise. As you enter the place, you are welcomed by the scent of brewing coffee and a feel of the country side. The shop is filled with shabby chic vintage details. The owner is friendly and welcoming. The place is a little small and doesn’t have a lot of seating on a busy day. It’s a cute place to visit.

I have been visiting this little coffee shop since I started coming to Jim Thorpe about four years ago and every time i walk in the door am instantly hit with the aroma of fresh brewed coffee. The staff is very pleasant and willing to accommodate almost any request. In my last visit I had the pleasure of meeting the woman who makes the ice cream and found out that she is will to make any flavor ice cream that is requested. In regards to the comment about the cappuccino or espresso being secretive I would love to know exactly where in the front of the store could accommodate an espresso machine. The prices are very reasonable especially regarding the generous scoops of ice cream and italian ice. I would highly recommend stopping in for at least a cup coffee or some homemade biscotti.

I have been here twice now. I sincerely doubt that this ice cream is homemade, based on my experiences at homemade ice cream joints elsewhere. The texture and taste is just too much like commercial ice cream and leaves me very suspicious. The thing that prompted my review happened on my last visit, when the kids ordered ice cream but, in light of my suspicions about that, I decided instead to try some espresso. I placed the order, and she disappeared«behind the curtain» and did not reappear with my drink for a good 5 minutes! I don’t know what has to be so secretive about espresso preparation, but if I had to guess by the taste, she was back there using a powdered mix instead of making my drink from scratch. Due to the above and also the prices, I will not be patronizing Alice’s again.

This small café is extremely cozy, feels just like home. It is unique in its own way. The elderly staff/owners are extra friendly and welcoming. A perfect place to sit down, enjoy a cup of iced blended mocha, and have a very nice conversation with your friends ;) They sell homemade goods, such as cookies, ice cream, cake, jam, pasta, etc. Definitely one of my fav places in JIMTHORPE, PA!!! Hmmm, just the thought of Alice’s Pantry gives me a relaxation. so calm, so peaceful. Makes me not want to travel back home in NyC! A Haiku dedicated to Alice’s Pantry and Coffee Shop. Alice’s Pantry Full of yummy homemade goods Just the place for you!

Their apple pie with the cobbler crumble on top was to die for. And to make it even better, Edwina, the friendly proprietor of this quaint and casual establishment, warmed it up and added whipped cream and a little swirl of chocolate sauce. She is also very helpful with suggestions for places to have dinner or entertainment in town. She even gave a few restaurant and venues a call to see if they were open or to find out the entertainment for the evening.
