If you venture to Jim Thorpe, this is a MUST! The restaurant’s «bread and butter» is totally their outlook on fresh food and family-like service. With a focus on quality ingredients and an extreme knowledge of food allergies, I was able to devour amazing gluten-free food, while my husband, who is NOT gluten-free, was able to enjoy a delicious meal as well. The owner, Margaret, spent a significant amount of time with us talking about the menu and how she prepares the food. This will definitely become a regular stop for us on our annual trip to JT.

Ordered samosas and they were way too spicy(inedible), ordered the soup de jour which was maybe the best soup I have ever had. Had the power bowl and it was very bland. The ambiance was nice but the slow service and food made us not want to return.

My boyfriend and I are visiting Jim Thorpe for the weekend and had the great fortune of happening upon Stone Row! He is a vegetarian, and I am dairy and gluten free, so finding delicious food can be a challenge. This place absolutely rose to the occasion. Everything in the menu is gluten free, and there are tons of vegan options. What’s even better is that it is absolutely the best food I have tasted since I’ve had to have food restrictions! I had the burger with potato salad, and I was even able to have an apple spice cupcake for desert. My boyfriend enjoyed his risotto with spinach, mushrooms, and sun-dried tomatoes just as much. Additionally, our server was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was warm and eclectic with out being pretentious, and the chef personally delivered my meal to assure that my food restrictions were accommodated. I highly recommend Stone Row!

The restaurant was cute. The menu was very limited. Check it out before you go. We didn’t and we were disappointed and struggled to find what we wanted. My wife wanted the risotto and they didn’t have any left, which made her choices even more limited. Most of us ordered a hamburger due to the limited menu. Still can’t figure out how a pub with hamburgers doesn’t have fries. I ordered the salmon. The food was tasty and very fresh, but due to the very limited menu, we wouldn’t return.

Hey you. Reading this. I don’t know you, I don’t know where you live, or even what food you like. All I know is you should stop whatever you’re doing and take the trip to Jim Thorpe, PA just to try this place. I feel I can truly say ‘this place’ as I’m writing this while still at my table… At first it felt like coming into someone’s apartment, you go through a quiet unassuming door and head up the stairs to the bar area. The vibe, staff and décor all back up that initial ‘in someone’s home’ feeling. We were sat in a romantic candlelit window, with lights around us and delicious homemade cocktails to get us in the mood. What followed(we had the samosas, pulled pork, carrot and black bean soup, power bowl and beef burger) was a masterpiece of artisanal home cooking and ingénue with a creative flair. If you’re a meat eater, vegetarian, vegan or just plain foodie you will find something here you adore, I promise you. The service was impeccable and the food came much faster than the ‘this is real food, it takes real time’ on the menu would have you believe. This is more than a hidden gem, it’s a hidden diamond of peace, tranquility and phenomenal home-cooked food.

If you’ve ever been anywhere near Jim Thorpe in October, you know just how crazy it gets for their Fall Foliage weekends. What I imagine is regularly a sleepy town is transformed into a buzzing hub of apples, pumpkins, colored leaves, and all things fall. Knowing this, we still decided to come check it out anyway. After a long hike during the day, we didn’t make it to Jim Thorpe until 4pm. This turned out to be a perfect strategy. The parking lots that is usually full by 9am and costs $ 10 to park was open — and free. So we grabbed a spot and walked the town, checking out all the cute little shops and enjoying the thinning crowds. All the shopping and walking built up quite an appetite, and we settled on Stone Row to grab a bite to eat. It seemed like we were going to be turned away since we didn’t have a reservation, but there turned out to be a few open tables on the second floor, which had a cozier feel anyway… at least in the main room, with the bar. We were seated in the other room, which featured some bizarre paintings but was comfortable enough. Our waitress seemed great at first, giving us extra time when we couldn’t make up our minds on drinks, and warning us that our food would take 30 minutes. But then she disappeared. The food took 45 minutes, at least, and came out lukewarm, which made me think she had completely forgotten about it. We then sat with empty plates for at least 30 minutes, taking so long I actually became convinced she had left. Naturally this made the meal take way longer than it should have. The food itself was really good — easily 4 or 5 stars in itself, had it come out while it was still hot. I had the sweet potato risotto, which was piled with cheese to blend in and a hearty scoop of sweet potatoes.

I would love to give this place more stars for the drinks and food but the service just sunk it. Made a reservation by voicemail during the week. The recording said someone would call me back. No one did. Called Friday to remake the reservation for Saturday. The person said if it wasn’t in the book, she would enter it. Called Saturday to confirm… no reservation was ever entered. They said they could«squeeze me in». Got there a bit early. Had drinks which were fabulous, then waited literally one hour for someone to approach the table. No water, no menus, nothing. We finally flagged a waiter who said he wasn’t our waiter and would get ours. He came back a few minutes later and said he guesses he is our waiter. He was very friendly and did a good job as our waiter. He warned us that food takes 45 minutes. We ordered a hummus appetizer hoping it would come faster. Not the case. The appetizer actually came after we were practically done eating our entrees. The place is very charming and the food was ultimately good but the kitchen and the service need to get their sh*t together. If you know your kitchen consistently has a problem keeping up with orders, fix it. If you are going to have people sitting at tables for over an hour waiting for food, put out some snacks. I am guessing they depend on the tourist trade and are not interested in repeat customers. Such a pity for a place with so much potential.

Very nice service and atmosphere with an interesting menu– probably the best place in Jim Thorpe… but the menu execution didn’t seem to live up to itself. Also, the long wait for the food and some less than clean silver/glassware leaves some room for improvement.

The atmosphere is extremely charming, I lived in Jim Thorpe my entire life. So when a new place opens I like to explore. I moved away recently to Harrisburg but my fiancé and I like to come back and play tourist for the day sometimes on weekends. I’ve heard of this restaurant and I really wanted to come in and we were welcomed warmly. The food was amazing I had the Millett burger, something I have never really heard of before but I was delicious. The only reason I gave this a four star instead of the five is because the waitstaff, though friendly, were kind of awkward when they came to the table. They seemed confused a lot. They didn’t seem to know who had what table, which tables had ordered. Actually our waiter came over to us twice to take our order. And this place is not very big so I don’t know how he forgot that he had already talked to us. The system and operation didn’t seem to be completely up to par. All in all the food was great! The waitstaff could use some more training I think. But everyone was very friendly and the food came out quickly. I will definitely be back.

Really interesting flavors and great vegan choices. The black bean soup hints of carrots and cinnamon. The salads a MF dressings are very flavorful. Cool, funky, décor. Waitstaff is conversant in food, brews, and chaturanga. Really. Tiny roads are a bit tricky for parking. Wishing they had draft beer, but still a fine selection.

Ivette and I went for a snack before heading back home from Jim Thorpe. We had just returned from the train ride to Lehigh Gorge and didn’t want to chance getting hungry on the road. That would have meant eating God-knows-what from the nearest rest stop. We were not very hungry but one look at the menu and I wanted to try everything; I even told the waitress as soon as she came to the table. Traye was great at answering everything question we had and was even better at serving our table. As soon as Ivette and I started on our meal Margaret — Chef and owner of Stone Row — came to check on us. We had a chance to learn more about our meal and share a few stories before she had to take care of the rest of her customers. We only ordered appetizers and desert. Here’s what we had: Grilled Rice Points with onion, tomato and red pepper chutney. These are brown rice patties with a thin cover of crunchy rice(sort of like the Puertorrican Pegao’ or the Persian Tadig) served with onion, red pepper, and tomato chutney(3 rice points with one of the chutneys each). They were served with soy sauce on the side. In my opinion they don’t need the soy sauce but… I tried them with, and I can see(taste…) how well it compliments the chutneys. Sunflower Seed Humus served over cucumber. Exactly what it sounds like. Very refreshing and tasty. The consistency of the hummus was perfect. Stone Row Samosas with sriracha-lime mayo. These are not you Amma’s samosas. These were are more like patties with all the potato peas and herbs mixed together. Margaret explained that it is hard to create a gluten-free samosa. But I am not picky. She pulled it off and I will have them again next time I’m in town. Black Bean and Carrot soup. Thick, not watery, with the perfectly cooked beans. I still think my dad made the best black bean soup though.(Sorry Margaret. Its a family thing). Finally, we topped off our culinary experience with a chocolate cake(Bouchon Chocolat). Nicely priced. Good selection of seasonal, regional and imported beers and an equally good list of wines. Every meal is made from scratch so come ready to have a great conversation with your friends. Vegan and allergy conscious recipes. A must-visit if you are anywhere close in the area.

Four of us found ourselves in small town Jim Thorpe … A vegan, two pescatarians and someone who’s gluten free … And we were shocked to find something that worked well for all of us! The owner was really kind, the food was surprisingly good and the place itself is really charming. We ordered the samosas(spicy!), lentil loaf, and millet burgers.

A quaint and sexy place nestled in a small stone building off the beaten path in Jim Thorpe. Excellent menu and staff with a cozy bar. If you’re looking for something different than the typical places in Jim Thorpe or just want to try something new, check this place out.

This is a lovely place with full of surprises. I am not gluten free lover, but their gluten free pasta tasted just as good as regular ones! Personally I love their carbonara over pesto, but all my friends prefer the pesto pasta. Appetizers were all good too!(egg, pork platter, and samosa) As for dessert, i recommend the chocolate cake!

Yeah… totally dig this place… from the outside it looks like it’s been there since the 1800’s(historical). The inside is newer than I would have liked… I like the feel of historical interiors… This place looks like it was recently remodeled… which is cool. The food was good and fresh. Service was great!

Friendly, cozy spot. Reasonable prices and great options for this vegetarian. Non-vegetarians may not adore the stuff and perhaps could kick up the flavor, but wow, those toasted chickpeas on my salad had a great pop. A lucky find on our trip.

I was happy to plan my trip to Jim Thorpe around visiting this unique looking vegetarian-friendly. When my fiancée and I walked into the restaurant it was completely empty. We were eventually greeted by the owner/chef who directed us to eat upstairs in the bar area – where there are also tables. We made it to the top of the steps and the bartender and waitress stopped talking and stared at us. The upstairs area was also devoid of any other patrons. I broke the awkward silence and asked, «should we just sit anyway.» The waitress replied sarcastically, «well you could just stand anywhere if you wanted too.» My fiancée and I feigned a smile at the strangely hostile comment and took a seat by the window. There was no ambiance to the restaurant at all – nothing hanging on the walls, and just plain white table clothes over mis-matched tables. The waitress eventually took our drink order. We weren’t up for ordering anything alcoholic since we were both fighting pretty severe colds at the time. Instead we ordered hot tea. I could tell right away that this was obnoxious to the waitress. She brought us back plain hot water, then I watched her crawl up onto a counter behind the bar to find an old basket of random tea satchels. By the time she arrived back at the table with this surely stale collection of tea bags my water was lukewarm. This isn’t really what I expect from a health-conscious restaurant. My fiancée and I both ordered the Millet Burger – which was about $ 10. It didn’t come with french fries or chips or anything other than a side of cole slaw. I though that was a bit pricey for what isn’t a lot of food. When our waitress came out with our food she also slammed down two handy-wipe satchels – like you’d get at a gas station. It was just such a weird gesture because on one hand you can tell that the owners want this place to seem upscale… but on the other than everything is so barren and backwards. The millet burger was hands down the worst part of the experience though. Millet is what cereal is made of, for reference. The burger itself tasted like chewed up Captain Crunch cereal – lightly breaded and pan fried. I couldn’t stomach the whole thing. A boca burger would have been preferable. It wasn’t filling and was just plain gross. There’s no way I’d ever go back here… if I ever find myself in Jim Thorpe again, I’ll look for vegetarian options at the local Chinese restaurant.

I was a vegetarian visiting a very, very small town in Pennsylvania. I thought I was going to starve on a diet of iceberg lettuce and water, but this place rescued me. When the waitress came to take our order, her first words after the usual friendly greetings were«Are there any dietary preferences or restrictions we should keep in mind?» I fell in love. Then I ordered the Loafus Lentilus(why yes, that is the cheesiest-cutest name ever) and fell in love-squared. The Vanilla Porter sealed the deal. My friend got the Beef Burger though and said she wasn’t too thrilled, but then again she’s a picky-pants. I was already impressed but then the owner came up and chatted with us for a while. She was super sweet and cool to talk to. My friend wanted to know more about the different kinds of chutney they had(tons) and she offered to bring all kinds of samples which was great. I wish we had gotten to stop by again before we headed out but if I’m ever in the area again I’ll definitely drop in again.
