Went to Tommy’s today for a quick take out. I have to say I’ve been there many times and I’m never disappointed. Food is always great, fresh, and cooked rather quickly. They have a huge selection and prices are excellent. I love it!

Awesome. Seriously, staff is awesomesauce. Overly accommodating. Arrived at closing and hard working good people. Eat there. Highly recommended. Chris and Kathie from the valley.

Popped in for a quick bite on my way into town. Very affordable food($ 4 – 6 sandwiches) and friendly staff. They make their own pirogies but sadly I didn’t have a big enough appetite for that and a cheesesteak. 3.5−4 star cheesesteaks. The bread is incredibly fresh. And everything else is exactly how you would expect. Would hit this spot again on my next trip to Jim Thorpe.

Ordered to go. Overall great quality. Ordered 3 chicken cheesesteak subs w/peppers and onions. A bit dry and bread was a little hard, but that’s splitting hairs. Fries are good and a large portion. After order placed, asked how long of a wait. Received a response of «there are 3 orders in front of you»…as it was my first time there, I don’t know how that response translates into time. Great value…3 subs + 2 fries = $ 23.

Probably more like a 3.5, but I like to round up. I stopped in here two different times for lunch when I was in the area for business. The first time I got a cheesesteak. The second time I got an Italian hoagie. Prices are great. Lunch specials for both my sandwiches were about $ 6 for an 8 inch sandwich, fries, soda. The sandwiches were pretty good. Not the best I’ve had, but I didn’t walk out regretting anything. Service is good, clean, and ingredients were all fresh. There are a lot of food options here from sandwiches to pizza. It’s a solid lunch location and I’d definitely recommend it if you’re in the area. FYI-This is across the river from the«downtown» touristy area, but it’s not far. Plus, unlike downtown, there is plenty of free parking here.

Great tasty food for an Incredible price! Everything ordered was excellent! They have been here for 39 years. Usually quality gets compromised over the years but they have maintained the quality standards so well… Great place to go…

Really good basic cheesesteak and cheese fries. Steady stream of business and a large number of items to select from. Would come back if in the area again.

We stopped for a quick lunch before hiking. The cheesesteak and pork sandwiches were good. Good little place.

An on the road find. We grabbed the special, cheesesteak, coke and fries for like $ 7. The cheesesteaks were great. Must bring cash, no credit card machine, which in 2015 is crazy to me, especially for the volume of locals coming in and out of the place. Will return if in the area.

This sandwich shop literally makes me wish I lived closer to the area. I was in town for the weekend, and I went back to the place twice for sandwiches. The bread was awesome, the meat was great, everything tasted freshly sliced and yummy. Highly recommend the Italian hoagie. I’m not a huge fan of oil or mayo, and I loved that this sandwich comes with an Italian vinaigrette that adds a ton of flavor. The menu is WAY huger than you’d think after reading the reviews on Unilocal. They have tons of sandwiches of course, but lots of appetizers, fried eats, platters, and daily specials. And amazingly, everything is priced about 4 dollars less than what you’d normally spend too. At least, normally spend in my Philly suburbs. I only wished that the counter girl was a bit friendlier. It was obviously my first time, as i was staring at the menu for about 1500 minutes. But unfortunately, she just stood at the counter and never me if I needed any help. Ah well. The girl who made my sandwich on my second visit made up for it though! I noticed my first visit that they didn’t cut their(huuuge) sandwiches, which made for awkward eating. So the second time, I asked for a knife without explaining why. The girl who made my sandwich actually asked why I needed it, and when I explained why she was like«oh, no problem». She took it back, unwrapped it, and sliced it herself. I thought that was a nice touch. My point is — make the trek just out of town and eat here!

A lovely home made roll with thick slices of turkey is what I tried. A hearty lunch after a morning of sightseeing around Jim Thorp. At $ 5.95, which included chips and a fountain drink, affordable lunch which could have easily fed two persons.

We were in the area after a weekend at Skirmish and White water rafting. Our rafting guide actually recommended Tommy’s Subs for cheese steaks. I split the 12 inch Rambo with buffalo chicken cheese steak. This sub is loaded with fries, mozzarella sticks and other fried goodness on top of the cheese steak. It totally hit the spot after 5 hours of water rafting. They were out of pizza slices when we went so we got some chicken fingers instead. They were really dry. But I liked the honey mustard sauce. Others in the group got the Delmonico cheese steak but weren’t entirely wow’ed by it. They did order about 3 portions of the funnel cake fries. Cash only, stop by only if it’s on the way. Otherwise, don’t really seek it out.

8.8÷10.0 If you are new to the area and want to eat at the best place around for lunch or a quick sandwich, Tommy’s is the way to go. Best cheesesteak in the area, best $ 5 burger I’ve ever eaten(Olympian cheeseburger with LTO/mayo/ketchup), top-notch hoagies that are in one way very plain but still manage to be a high quality sandwich, and the angel steak(a chicken sandwich) is the bomb. I get mine with LTO/cheese/mayo. Oh and did I mention that they bake their own fresh bread daily? That’s right. No store-bought garbage rolls from a plastic bag. Bread can be an integral part of a good burger/sandwich/hoagie/cheesesteak and Tommy’s nails it with their quality sandwich rolls. The owner actually bakes them every night, so they’re fresh for the next day, at like 2am. If you are looking for a sit-down dinner type of place, this isn’t it. It’s a sub shop. But if you are looking for a sandwich in Carbon County, Tommy’s is top dog. Don’t be fooled by the overpriced tourist traps on Broadway! Most of them have inflated prices and par to sub-par food. If you want to eat where the locals go, hit Tommy’s. Prices are great, too!
