We are new to the area and the sign«Homemade Pies» drew us in. I plan to stop in at least weekly — quiche right out of the oven with fresh local vegetables, amazing pies and cobbler, BBQ ribs, homemade cheesecakes — all delicious! The crust on the pies and quiche is amazing. Stopping by Mr. McGregor’s Garden is already my favorite thing about living here.

Get the Cherry crumb pie. Crusty top with just enough sugar and sour whole cherries. So not overbearingly sweet. Just get it instead of having me trying to describe the essence of «flavor». Otherwise, I’d be a food article columnist instead of a casual Unilocaler. Awesome pumpkin pie too. Tastes like pumpkin, which according to news articles I read, rarely contain pumpkin. Perfect amount of spices in it too. More or less same produce as other farm markets in the area, but pies are this place’s specialty.

I was up at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst for training, and I hopped on Unilocal to find some«local flair» in the area, when I came across this place. I decided I had to see what the fuss was about. I ended up getting a strawberry-rhubarb pie to share with my cousin. It was unbelievable. I think Mrs. McGregor has«pie-making hands». The folks there are so nice and the pie was great. I just HAD to go back for another one(and a small pecan pie while I was at it) before I went back home. This place is worth hopping into for sure! I am sorry I had to come back. I miss the pie!

The smoked ham was absolutely the best ham we have ever had and our Christmas dinner guests gave many compliments to the freshness and smokey flavor. We will be ordering smoked ham from Mr McGregor’s garden again.

I happened to come across this place by taking the back roads from Voorhees, NJ to meet my friends for an early round of golf at Cream Ridge golf course. It was 7:30 and I didn’t think they were open yet. After 18 rounds of golf I was ready to go home lay on the couch. I had an hour ride back home but could not resist that road side sign saying Peach Cobbler. After passing all the signs talking about peaches, I think I was in a trance and had no choice but to stop. As I walked into this place the smell of pies baking hits you square in the face. While standing at the counter I watched the women in the kitchen pour what seemed to be cherries into a pot. You can see the steam coming from the pot. I almost ended up being on Action News that night as I was ready to hop over the counter and dive right into that pot. I stopped in to pick up a peach cobbler. Thanks to another patron, who could not mind his own business, I ended up walking out of Mr. McGregor’s with a peach cobbler and an apple crumb pie. The fellow patron was not rude, he just saw how I walking around the store aimlessly admiring the fresh fruit and vegetables, and the tasty looking desserts. He said to me «you really should get a crumb pie». How inconsiderate; he knew I was lost, he knew my will power was broken as the smells from the kitchen crippled me. If I see him again I am going to scold and thank him at the same time. Then I am going to pick up a two more crumb pies.

Love this place. Amazing cheesecakes, sold in individual sizes that freeze well. This place is also known for wonderful pies. In addition, it offers a full deli menu, produce, baked goods and many other items. Next time I’m in the area I’ll stock up.

So surprised no one has reviewed this place yet. These are the 2nd best pies I have ever had(best was in Bar Harbor, ME). Mrs. McGregor is a gem of a lady who makes everything from blueberry crumb, strawberry rhubarb, key lime to coconut. Everyone I’ve had is delicous, not too sweet and perfect flaky crust. They also have deli foods as well as fresh produce and other items… If you are anywhere in the vicinity, I HIGHLY recommend this place!!! FYI, the pies are only $ 13 each which is much less than this Westchester Co, NY ex-pat is used to paying.
