Piggly Wiggly Carolina

This is a very nice grocery store and the price is right! This is where we stop on the way going to Kiawah, because the grocery store on the island is outrageously expensive. They have good «pig deals» all over the store and provide a courtesy card if you are not a regular Piggly Wiggly shopper so you can take advantage of the deals.
I agree with the previous reviewer that the produce section could use a little work — it wasn’t laid out very clearly and it was difficult to find things, and they didn’t have the largest selection of different types of vegetables. They also didn’t exactly have what I wanted in the frozen section either, but that could be a cultural thing — I am used to finding more Asian foods in the frozen section but didn’t see much of a selection here.
This sounds weird, but I also like their plastic bags a lot — they are sturdier than the ones we get at Giant or Harris Teeter and don’t get holes at the bottom seam. This is great because we can use the bags again for other things. We brought a huge wad of plastic bags home after last trip.
Overall, this is the best grocery store in the area. Good food, reasonable prices, and it is clean and never too crowded. I definitely recommend, especially if you will be staying at Kiawah and want to stock up on snacks!
