This is the best restaurant in Johnson city, I’ve never experienced such amazing food and service. I ordered the duck and it exceeded my expectations. Recommend Café Pacific to anybody for a special night

There aren’t many restaurants in the Tri-Cities that offer an upscale, romantic setting, with consistently delicious New American cuisine. Nonetheless, Café Pacific is one of them. Located in an unassuming barn house off W Oakland Avenue, Café Pacific is easy to miss. Luckily, when I lived in Johnson City, I lived half a mile down the road, so after passing Café Pacific several times daily, I was curious to try it – and I’m so glad I did! Inside, the restaurant is two-stories, quiet, and dimly-lit, with some(appropriately) «Pacific”-themed décor. There are several rooms in which patrons may be seated – which makes the dining experience at Café Pacific somewhat private. I’ve always made reservations prior to dining here, although depending on the night, reservations may not be necessary. Every time I’ve dined at Café Pacific, the wait staff has been extremely friendly and accommodating. Typically, before dinner is served, guests are treated to a few light bites/tastes, which are complements of the chef. In the past, I’ve ordered the Shrimp and Scallops, the Seared Tuna, and the Pork Tenderloin. The portions are extremely generous, in my opinion, and everything has been DELICIOUS! The bread, which is served before the meal, is unbelievably good, too! Everything about Café Pacific makes it an unforgettable experience! I no longer live in Johnson City, nor do I plan on doing so again – however, I would visit the area just to go back to Café Pacific! It’s a must-go for anyone visiting the area, and for anyone living in the area, looking for the perfect romantic spot. Clearly, I have no choice but to give Café Pacific 5 stars! :)

I just love everything about this place. A quirky hidden gem in Johnson City. Driving up, it looks like a barn, but this is one place where you can’t judge the cover. Once inside it is an old farmhouse with an Asian influence. The service is spectacular and attentive. They bring some free teasers in the kitchen. My favorite dish here is the seared tuna. It has a black sesame crust and an incredible flavor. It comes with veggies and some noodles. My husband ordered the salmon and it was excellent, but he even said that in the future he will order the tuna. Of course we can’t pass up the lobster bisque which has chunks of lobster in it. I’m so happy to have such a unique place nearby.

OVERRATED!!! My wife and I visited them on Valentine’s Day and I was not impressed. Our appetizer was very good but the remainder of the meal was less than inspired. The steak that I ordered was cook a perfect medium rare but had zero seasoning. The same was true for my steamed veggies, which were barely heated up. The crème brûlée was hardened to the point that I had to slam my knife into it in order to break. My wife received her desert which was literally Greek yogurt, a few berries, and a very thin stream of honey. On a previous visit, my wife ordered lobster bisque which was loaded down with mustard powder. It was explained to us that one of the sous chefs had accidentally used a wrong seasoning. Mistakes happen but what concerns me is that the flavor was so overbearing, that the bisque had obviously not been tasted.

Absolutely the best food we have had in years! We enjoy great dining and have to say were completely pleasantly surprised at how amazing this place really is! JC is blessed to have this level of dining that usually in only available in large cities. It is pricey, but completely worth it. The chef and staff make the experience great. Yes, this isn’t a brand new building, but we enjoyed the charm of the location and history. Love the old barn to the side and would be a great place to do something amazing with. We look forward to taking all our out of town guests to Café Pacific. Oh, my you have to get desserts… even to go!

Would love to give it negative stars, went to dinner with friends, service was good but a little put off by the 20 year old window air conditioning units. I had the pork tenderloin and I’ve made better at home for a much much better price, I was definitely expecting more for the expense. Will not go back and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Coming from South Florida for an anniversary/vacation, we found this restaurant through the Unilocal app. What a wonderful surprise! We have some amazing 4 and 5 star restaurants in Fort Lauderdale/Miami, but none that pay the kind of attention to impeccable service, perfectly cooked and beautifully served food, and customer comfort like this restaurant did. Unable to decide on a wine, our server offered 3 complimentary samples. That is where the experience began, and it only got better from there. Prior to each course we received a complimentary treat. A salmon cheesecake paired with a blood orange soda before our appetizer, a mini piece of fish served with two delicious sauces served prior to our entrée, and a mini puff pastry filled with crème anglaise and ganache before our dessert. We had the Neptune platter and the filet mignon. Both were outstanding. Each was served with uniquely prepared and delicious vegetable sides. Our server tweaked our dessert so we had the best of both worlds. She added fresh raspberries and raspberry sauce to our warm chocolate cream cake over Frangelico sauce and macadamia brittle. I cannot give a high enough review of this restaurant. Everything is made on the premises, and no attention to quality is spared. We hope to come back here at the end of our trip. It would be an honor to meet the chef/owner.

I have eaten there twice and both times it took 2 – 3 hours and I left without eating my dinner. The first time I sent it back twice because it was cold & they gave me bananas & ice cream to compensate. The second time my tuna was so peppery & dried out I couldn’t eat it. I wasn’t willing to wait another hour for them to fix me something else. They tried to charge my husband 20% gratuity on tax and one guy at our table got his meal 30 minutes after everyone else. I am shocked this restaurant has 5 stars!

Great relaxing dinner. Off the beaten path but worth finding. Cute secluded spot. The server was friendly, efficient and professional. Food was delicious. Had the roasted beet and heirloom tomato salad as recommended. Great flavor and presentation. Seared tuna for dinner. Great accompaniments of sautéed vegetables and noodles in a great sauce. Everything was a «10».

Hands Down the best restaurant in Johnson City. I have been here twice and it has been 5 star both times. Food is amazing. Great service. I wish this place was in Nashville. If it was, it would be double the cost. Very reasonable prices for a restaurant of this caliber. I’m never eating anywhere else when I’m in town.

Went here on a recommendation from a coworker who had been there before. This place is the best. Great atmosphere, excellent service knowledgable staff, some of the best food I have had any where. I will rank this great little spot with any of the five star places I have eaten at anywhere. We had a party of 4 and everyone raved about the meals.(Filet, Lamb Chops, Duck two ways, Shrimp and Scallops) If I am back in this area(within 100 miles) I will be going to the Café Pacific again!

First time here. Simply put: amazing. Yes it is more expensive, but the quality of food was exquisite, the service was spot on and the atmosphere was perfect. Every dish that the table of 9 ordered met or exceeded expectations. Good wine selection and the bar drinks were very well made. We were given several chef specials to try and they were all amazing. The wait staff gaff no problem accommodating a slightly picky 4 year old also. Would highly recommend for a special occasion or a romantic night out.

Gourmet food, gourmet prices, great patio in the summer. Some of the, if not THE, best food in the area. This place doesn’t look like it’s up to much from the outside. At least to me it doesn’t. My first time was 2004. Wifey and I had been working hard in the yard. Sweaty. Stinky. Really dirty. And starving. And kind of broke. I mentioned two places near here, and described this to her as «a little hole in the wall kinda place that looks like they’d have great burgers and we probably don’t even neet to shower first.» One of us put on a clean shirt. Maybe both of us, but we were underdressed by about six levels for Café Pacific which, it turns out, is very nice, very expensive for this area, and the staff didn’t bat an eye at our attire, or at least not that we knew of. We ate a fantastic meal and laughed most of the time and for quite awhile afterward. We come here on special occasions, when we’re flush with cash, or just need a fancy meal fix. The menu changes seasonally and the specials are usually pretty awesome. The patio here is a hidden gem. A good place for some afternoon libations when you don’t want to run into anyone else. It’s not a big place, so it can seem kind of congested or «close.» It’s a Victorianish house converted into an eatery. Parking is limited, but so is the seating so that’s probably a match. They usually impress with the first courses, apps/salads/soups, nail some really nice specials and entrees, and finish strong with desserts/coffee/cocktails. It’s like the chef knows what’s up and matches great food without getting too self-indulgent and adding the trendy spice-of-the-month to the whole freakin’ menu or making something that’s just too many exotic uncoordinated and non-complementary flavors that you see so often from some fresh-from-culinary-class new places these days. I’m all for exploring with recipes and menus, but don’t impose it on the rest of us until you know what you’re doing. Usually a great seafood speical(think seabass flown in yesterday or oysters from the chesapeake this morning) option or two, hearty meat dish, spicy pasta, etc. Get your wallet out, let go of some of that money, and enjoy a nice meal once in awhile. Café Pacific is a great spot to do it.

This restaurant is probably the absolutely best in our area, in terms of quality of food and service. It is perfect for a corporate group dinner. The prefix menu is a great choice for a group of ppl for a quick and quality dinner. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone who is looking for corporate dinner for 10 or romantic outing for two!

Ate here as part of a party of 7. Came on a Thursday Night and had an upstairs section to ourselves. A polite and attentive, yet unobtrusive, young woman named Jade served us. Food, especially Ahi Tuna steak(of which 4 of us ordered) and the Salmon were absolutely fabulous. Also wonderful were the deserts. If you enjoy light beer, and you’ve never had a Delerium Tremens, do yourself a favor and order one. Overall, the simple touches from the chefs, the service, décor, and food made Café Pacific one of the best dining and culinary experiences I’ve had in recent memory. I’m a Texan native, and when I return to these parts, I will make it a point to return.

We’ve been here twice in the past year, and definitely the best dinning experience in Johnson City. The ambience of the restaurant is barn meets Asian, eclectic and interesting. All the dishes we’ve tried were well prepared and tasty; service was friendly and competent. Would I give this a 5 stars if it were in the San Francisco Bay Area where I was from originally? No, it’d be 4 star, but added one star for being the best and a little different, in a good way, for this area.

Had a fabulous meal here tonight. Started out with the pumpkin maple soup, stunning flavor. Lobster bisque was the best I’ve ever had. Garlic herb chicken remounted awesome. That was partnered by a medley of vegetables and not just the usual squash and broccoli, no. White asparagus, green asparagus, mushrooms, fingerling potatoes, carrot, artichoke, you get the picture. All perfectly cooked and very tasty. Service was excellent, not slow, but equally we didn’t feel rushed, they judged it just right. At about $ 50 a head(tip excluded) I thought it was great value for money. My best compliment would be that I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area again.

What a surprise in jcity… This serene house is off the beaten path; and as we walked up to the front door, the garden and fountain puts you into a calm mood. The rolls and tropical butter were yummy. My mango tea was amazing– they even gave me an individual carafe, so I didn’t have to ask for refills. We ordered the hummus as an appetizer– which was good, but not outstanding. My entrée was the special– a juliened potato encrusted trout over asaparagus with a side of veggie rice pilaf. The dish was almost excellent. The flavor was great, the food was plated impressively, the portion was huge. My trout was a little on the dry side. But overall my meal was wonderful. There were 7 of us… The others ordered Thai basil chicken, neptune’s feast, etc. The Thai chicken was also very flavorful. The interior atmosphere is ok, definitely needs a pro decorator, does not match the quality of the food. Our server was a nice girl but I’ve had much better service for the money we spent. The only irritation was the automatic service charge/tip they added to our bills bc of the large party… Which I was not told about when we called ahead to get a table. Would definitely go back.
