Our salads were not fresh, there were rust spots all over the lettuce. We were hoping our meals would be much better. My boyfriend ordered steak and chicken and I had opted for the chicken and shrimp. The cook asked how the steak should be cooked and he said he wanted it medium well, it was still dripping blood when it was placed on the plate. My shrimp was fine but the chicken was so incredibly overcooked. One woman at our table had requested«very well done chicken» and instead we all received very rubbery, chewy chicken. It was almost inedible. I paid nearly $ 50 for dinner and it was not even close to worth it. Another issues was the service. After we and the other patrons at our table had very obviously finished we were left sitting for nearly 15 minutes with no service. Someone eventually brought us a box and it was literally 20 more minutes before our check was given to us. The server checked on the table beside us multiple times while we were just sitting there waiting. This place was very good when we first tried it but this trip was extremely disappointing. We will not be back.

Went there with a date on a Saturday night. We arrived around 7:45. The sign on the door said they were open until 10:30. There was only one large party there at one of the grills, and they were mostly finished. My GF and I were seated at the adjacent grill. The service was fine, and the food was very good. Unfortunately the other large party left soon and the two of us were the only folks remaining in the restaurant. Shortly after finishing our meal the waitress arrived with the check and a couple of styrofoam to-go boxes that we hadn’t even asked for. She returned two minutes later to collect my card. I hadn’t yet looked at the bill or put my card in the folder. Obviously they were trying to hurry us out. I was still working on my 2nd beer. I signed the bill and immediately three guys came out of the back kitchen area armed with mops and started mopping their way towards us. The smell of bleach was too much so I abandoned half of my beer and we left. They ran us out and It’s not even 9:00 yet. On the way to the car we saw another couple park and walk in. Just for fun we waited long enough to determine if they were turned away. After a few minutes it seemed clear that they stopped their cleaning just to serve two people who would have to suffer the bleach smell. Bottom line, the food was good but the rest was BS. They won’t last long with such poor treatment of customers. I’d give the food and the guy that made it a 3 – 4 star but I won’t return due to the crappy experience.

I was impressed with the décor, but I got seated in the back corner near the sushi cooler, which, for me, was not appetizing. The pre-meal salad was disappointing, but the soup was pretty good. The entrée(teriyaki beef and shrimp) tasted great and had good quality meat, but the meal was very overpriced, especially since it was supposedly a lunch special. I paid over $ 17 for the meal, a hot tea(no refills), and my tip. The service was great, and my server was very attentive.

This is my third time at Hana Steak House, and every time it has been amazing! Their sushi is delicious, and the hibachi grill is entertaining to watch. The fried rice is the absolute best I have ever had, and they prepare steaks perfectly. Hana Steak House is right next to the Kroger off Browns Mill — it’s not hard to find, but it’s not exactly in plain sight either. This is not a restaurant you want to skip! The food is delicious and the atmosphere is friendly and comfortable.(Also their chairs are super comfy)

Great place to eat. Doesn’t look like much from the parking lot, but it will not disappoint when you go inside. Food is wonderful, chefs are great and the owners are always out among the patrons. I see many many more visits to this fine restaurant in my future!

This week I am reviewing a great restaurant in Johnson City, IMG_0624 Tennessee. Hana Japanese Steakhouse is easy to miss if you’re not looking, but if you’ve found it, you know it’s good. The atmosphere is relaxing with dim lighting and soft music playing, but it’s also a fun place to be, especially at the Hibachi grill! IMG_0625 I ordered the NY Strip Hibachi; watching the chef was so entertaining and the food was so fresh. It was the best fried rice I have ever had, and all the flavors wentIMG_0629 together so well. What’s also important at restaurants is comfortable seating, and Hana Japanese Steakhouse has the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in, and I believe it’s because of the hole in the back — take a look at the picture! If you want quality Japanese Hibachi or sushi in a comfortable, inviting setting, check this place out! IMG_0631 Hana Japanese Steakhouse is open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11am-2:30pm, and for dinner Monday through Thursday 4−10pm, Friday’s 4 – 10:30pm, Saturday’s 12 – 10:30pm, and Sunday’s 12−10pm.

I’ve eaten a lot of sushi in my travels and this has to rank as one of the worst experiences. Café one 11 was closed(my regular sushi spot when visiting Johnson City) so I tried Hana based off of reviews and pictures. Inside is really nice and hibachi looked good, but do not order sushi. I had tuna nigiri and octopus nigiri(which came with eel sauce on it??? I also witnessed the chef trying to moisturize the octopus with a wet paper towel).

I’ve been to Hana once before today and everything was really good except for being scolded on stacking my dishes. I went back today for half off sushi and waited at the host stand for 3 to 5 minutes before being sat, the hostess didn’t say anything except«Two?», and took us to a table right next to another table in a rather empty restaurant(a total of maybe 3 or 4 tables). The server came to the table fairly quickly for drinks but walked around doing anything else but taking our order for the next 10 to 15 minutes when we were clearly ready to go. We decided to leave and patiently waited for the server to come back from chatting with guests at the bar. We told him we were just going to leave and he said«Ok.» No apology or any kind of hospitality. The hostess did not thank us, but only stared, as we left the building. I’m not one to complain or write negative reviews unless warranted. I’ve been a server and bartender for the last 4 and a half years and am privy to how service should be. They need to work on their manners and hospitality, especially if they are going to be in the service industry. I’m really disappointed.

You know a meal was good when you’re still thinking about it the next day. I went for lunch with a large group(11 people) from my church. I noticed that they had a lot of selections on their lunch menu including sushi, Bento boxes, and the Hibachi grill. I ordered the Chicken Hibachi because I love chicken, but they also had steak, scallops, shrimp, and salmon available in addition to a vegetarian Hibachi. Our chef had lots of personality and put on a great show complete not only with flaming onion volcano but also the rhythmic tapping of the cooking utensils, and he did it with a smile always on his face. The food was seasoned perfectly and tasted great. The prices, though not in the bargain lunch category, were very reasonable. Highly recommend, especially if you are looking for a place to entertain company.

Food is fantastic, great atmosphere for a family dinner. The chefs are great entertainment for all ages. Dinner and a show… What could be better?
