When I lived out West, Carl’s Jr. was probably my favorite chain fast food restaurant. It is the main reason that I’m as chubby as I am. Hardees is the East Coast cousin of Carl’s Jr. The menus are nearly identical with a few minor differences. This is the type of fast food burger along the vein of Burger King or McDonalds but much much better. Their burgers tend to be bigger and have a higher quality taste… but also tend to be filled with more calories(if that’s even possible. Google it if you are skeptical). I visited this Hardees twice when I was in Johnson City — once as an eat-in customer and once by drive-thru. My experience eating in was pleasant. The staff were friendly and the food was hot. I did have to put up with a churchy family who ate in following Sunday church and made judgemental comments about my t-shirt while they ate near me(which had a bit of zombie gore on it). Otherwise my experience was good. My drive-thru experience was the opposite of this. The girl serving me at the window was rude and got my order wrong twice. I ended up having to go inside to have it corrected. It ended up being cold by the time I got to eat it. However, when all is said and done, Hardee is tasty but it’s not everyday type of food. This location is hit or miss.

I enjoy the tacos and taco salad. They can’t compete with the local Mexican restaurants in authenticity, but they are much better than Taco Bell both in the amount of meat in their tacos and the freshness. Unlike the previous reviewer, I have always been satisfied with the taco salad. I don’t know where they’re getting cheese sauce because when I buy it, they always top it with grated cheese. The hamburgers are also good. Big Bag Lunch for $ 5 is a great deal — double cheeseburger, chili dog, fires, pie & drink all included. I also appreciate that they have a better selection of diet beverages(Yay Coke Zero & Diet Dr. Pepper!) than other fast food places.
