The don’t have a liquor license, but you are welcome to bring your own bottle of wine, they are happy to open, chill the wine, and supply you with wine glasses! The service was awesome, we had the antipasto salad, the shrimp scampi pasta and the shrimp Alfredo, all we’re delicious. For desert we had the triple cheesecake, perfect ending to the meal. The portions were large. The whole experience was flawless. If you are ever in Johnson City and want some very good Italian food, this is the place. I would give it 10 stars!

My wonderful lunch experience was enhanced by my outstanding server Nikki. The pizza with pepperoni, broccoli and onion was most excellent and arrived quickly. I only wish they delivered. Great experience.

Terrible service and terrible food. I love Italian and hate this place with a passion. So the food turned out to be good and the owner redeemed service by taking care of us.

Cool little place I stopped at on a whim. Got a gluten free pizza with chicken, spinach, mushrooms, and black olives. Toppings were all fresh and tasty — perhaps will pass on the gluten free and get a regular crust in the future. I certainly give props for the service — my server, she was extremely fast. My regret is not being able to try the garlic knots… but that will be corrected in the future. Awesome place — check it out.

Portabello’s is my favorite Italian food in Johnson City next to Bello Vita. Good authentic taste and the servers are very nice. You can even BYOB.

The atmosphere is casual, and the service was friendly. Our waitress was top-notch. However, the staff was visibly stressed by a Friday evening crowd. Our garlic knots were quite good. My daughter had the ravioli, and it was fine, but it was exactly the same as the frozen kind we can buy at the store. My son and husband both had chicken parmesan, but it was uneven. One filet on each of their plates(the one on the outermost edge, which made us wonder if the plate had been microwaved) was inedible due to toughness. The shrimp on my own grilled vegetable salad was also uneven – some really tasty and two underdone and gray inside. Our kind waitress took 10% off our meal(though we did not ask – she was just really observant). I think this place has great potential, but maybe they are still working out the kinks inevitably involved in a new opening.

Got A take home today and everything was very good. The service at the building and the food once I got home. Did a good job. It’s a sure thing I’ll return in the future

Went here for lunch one day with a crowd from work. Everything was delicious and fresh. I had the veggie flatbread. It was cooked perfectly and the combination of vegetables was so good. The wait was short and the place was very clean and cozy.

Easily the best Italian restraunt in the Tri-city area. I am now a regular there because of their gluten free menu. Every single dish I try is my new favorite dish and they load that plate up with lots of it! You can really taste the care put into the food, and that’s what the heart of Italian cooking is. Their house Italian dressing is just like my grandmother used to make and they are soon to be getting a separate frier to make gluten free canolies!

We are so lucky to have a quality Italian restaurant near the university. Porobello’s is located in the Kroger strip mall and is easy to miss if you are not looking at it but these allows them to keep the prices extremely good for quality food. I have eaten here once and had take out twice. Portobello’s had a little of a rough opening as they changed their name during the opening and had to have a new sign made. The windows are very dark so at first it was hard to tell they are open so I dropped by to see if they had indeed opened. Since then they have a bright open sign and a specials sign outside the door so there is no doubt. This a truly a family style restaurant with some beautifully prepared dishes which I am looking forward to trying. The inside is a little different then I expected — it has almost a chain feel with a special video running which strikes me a little odd but that is a pretty minor nit for a place with high potential. Something to keep it mind is that even tho they do not serve alcohol they do have a free corkage and that is a great way to have a perfect meal paired with your favorite wine at your cost. Something to keep in mind when you plan your trip to Portobello. I have had carry out for the meat sauce and meatballs which are both exceptional. Price is right for carry out as well if you want to make your own Italian feast at home. I had the ceasar salad which unfortunately I would not recommend. the caesar dressing is not home made and brought out in a plastic container. not fitting of a restaurant where most dishes are homemade. For my main entrée on this visit I tried the flatbread which is very very good. It comes with a side of marinara which is homemade and very good. The flatbread is loaded with quality ingredients. I am looking forward to trying many more of the quality food.

Great meat sauce spaghetti, huge small calzone and philly cheese steak. All 3 were delicious.
