Great old time Italian feel and taste. The spinach pies and pizza strip were great. A bit greasy so use lots of napkins but when you are on vacation you can stray away from the staples and indulge. This type of Italian food is definitely an indulgence and definitely worth the trip.

Great sandwiches and party pizza! Haven’t had the desserts but they looked delicious. They were also very friendly and accommodating of our last minute large order.

This is the best pizza strips ever! Now that I live on the West Coast, I always make sure I get a box when I’m home! Be sure to ask for«wet» box and you won’t regret it. Awesome pizza and family-owned bakery. My go-to pot luck, party food — get a box of pizza strips(they sell them in many denominations) and your guests will THANKYOU!!!

This is hands down the best Italian bakery in rhode island and the best one I have ever been to period. From the Italian bread to the pastries and prepared foods. AWSOME. I go here for one other thing though. The new York style pizza, it’s the best pizza in rhode island. Don’t get me wrong I love casserta’s too but this is thin and crispy new york style. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I just came in to bring my best friend before he flies back to ATL. He has a bag reserved to bring home RI food! His family is originally from here so they all miss the bread and pizza.

One great place. The bread is to die for. The pizza is outstanding. Let me put it this way, ALL their products are great. If you have not tried anything, do it now.

Great Italian bakery. I think the reason I go here is for the pizza strips. They are the best in RI. They also have a great selection of bakery sweets.

There are a lot of crappy pizza strips floating around Rhode Island nowadays.(I’m looking at you, «Original Italian Bakery».) D. Palmieri’s does them right. Right amount of sauce. Right amount of grease adhering the wax paper to each glorious rectangle. Pizza strips are one of those things that appear so simple, yet getting it just right requires some kind of Italian grandmother sorcery. Whoever D. Palmieri’s has in the back room knows what’s up. Order like two dozen strips for your kid’s party or throw your friends in your Wrangler and haul your ass down to Scarborough for the day.

This is not the average bakery. They offer outstanding pastries, calzones, pizza, bread and a good variety of prepared foods. I have been well satisfied with every item I have tried. Be sure to get some pizza bites for snacking. If they were closer this would be a daily stop.

Sure, the little town in RI known for having one of the highest Itlo-Am populations in the country is also responsible for supplying the world with some of the most culturally degrading and morally reprehensible atrocities of recent memory. Namely the enormous detritus pile known the state-over as the landfill, the soulless pay-for-slay slaughterhouse known as RI Beef and Veal and the equally soulless(and talentless) king douchebag known as Pauly D. Fortunately, all that is lame in Johnston can be forgiven thanks to D. Palmieri’s. No, I take that back — all is forgiven because of their pizza. Known throughout our territory as bakery pizza or pizza strips, DP’s does it in a familiar, but decidedly unique manner. Theirs has a crispness that can only be achieved by way of a thorough dousing of oil and high temperature ovens, which causes the dough to nearly fry in the process. In comparison to most local bakeries, the strips are cut smaller and on a remarkable lengthwise bias which takes on the shape of a rhombus, if ever viewed in profile. The two bites it takes to down a portion are gratified by a slightly savory, turn-your-thumb-and-index-finger-orange slathering of tomato compenade(portmanteau of compote and tapenade). It is amazingly good. So clean off your Air Johnstons(white Reebok classics), get in your Maxima with the upside-down red, white and green flag magnet stuck to the bumper and turn off of Atwood Ave, for once. When you get to Killingly, pick up a sheet of this stuff — that is assuming they aren’t sold out by the time you wake up, well after noon.

Amazing. I went in for classic RI party pizza strips. If you dont know what these are, then you are either 1) Not a Rhodey –OR– 2) A highly uninformed tourist who should GTFO. Now that that’s out of the way, lets get into these strips. I prefer the«red» strips — I highly recommend the«old fashioned» which has fresh garlic and a light sprinkle of grated cheese. They are the most amazing strips that I have ever had, PERIOD. I also highly recommend the eggplant strips. Those have sliced tender breaded eggplant sitting in a sea of sauce with a little mozzarella underneath. It was orgasmic. They all go fast so best get there early or call in a special order. They have a huge variety of cookies/cakes/pastries and a huge prepared foods counter. Obviously you can order any type of pizza as well. They have tons of sandwiches too. There have drinks and a few tables to eat at as well. I’ve never been in at lunch time but I’m sure the place gets PACKED.

They have some of the best pizza I have ever eaten! There’s regular pizza by the slice, and also the Italian/RI style pizza strips. I can’t decide which I love more. I swear that they must put crack in the cheese or something; I don’t know how they make it taste so good. Their white pizza is definitely the best I have ever had… ever. The combination of cheese and seasonings is absolutely perfect. There’s even ricotta on there… Mmmm. The classic pizza strips have a great red sauce with a nice bite, and are loaded with garlic deliciousness. The crust is perfectly firm yet doughy. Everything else here that I’ve tried has been good. But the pizza… oh the pizza. Do not pass on the pizza!

RI bakeries are like a NY deli, they can’t be replicated elsewhere. D Palmieri’s is a local favorite due to their amazing pastries, numerous pizza combinations, sandwiches, calzones, you name it, they’ve got it.

The only thing I have never tried is the deli meat, because well it is deli meat. But I can attest that everything in that building is first rate. The Rhode Island Red is unbeatable, the mini calzones are undeniable. What else? Italian tacos, the specialty strips, the white stripes with a the perfect amount of garlic and black pepper. Meatballs made from scratch, let me tell ya meatballs are HARD to get right and they nailed it. All the prepared foods they have that changes on the daily basis is plated and set out beautifully. If you have a party and don’t want to cook, take a gander at the at the catered menu, all priced well and you get a generous amount of food. FOOTBALLSUNDAY=Chicken wings and beer right? Well you cant get beer here, but you can get wings! Italian roasted, lemon and rosemary(my favorite), root beer, and a few other secret flavors(just ask). Bread is amazing but go early for that… Lastly the creative kitchen wizards came up with the«pizza bites» which are basically the ends of the crust, tossed in a little sauce and oil with a small amount of red pepper flake. RI-DIC-U-LOUS. I tried to buy all the containers when I go, again you need to go early because they sell out fast. I am tired of hearing and seeing«others» claim they are the original bakery and the bites are theirs… bs…it STARTED here folks. All in all I have been an institution as a customer there just like they are an institution in this State for decades. The staff is remarkable from the owner Steven himself to Mary, Vito, Robin, Rob, Ant, Fran, Kelly etc etc etc…

Great Pizza strips. They do not normally have cheese on them. The sauce is supposed to bite you back. Best eaten at room temperature. It’s a Rhode Island– Italian thing. Trust me.

I’m INLOVEWITHTHISPIZZA. I’m not even talking about the cheese-less strips, either. A round pizza, freshly cooked and eaten right away in-house, topped with banana peppers, sausage and onions. If I had to choose one pizza I had to eat for the rest of my life, that would be it. Oh and those root beer wings? Amazing. Last time we visited, we left with $ 30 worth of take-home food and that was AFTER we already ate. Love this place, a gem.
