Being in a mechanical trade for all of my life I have had little need for anyone to perform work on my vehicles over the years. Facts are of course that vehicles have just become so complex it is difficult for me to do many projects, that I used to do over the years, efficiently and safely. I came to you based on a solid recommendation. A friend of mine told me «even YOU will like this place». Figuring I would be quickly gratified by being very disappointed, I decided to give you a shot to prove him wrong. Well that was several years ago and much to my surprise and delight, I am still a very satisfied customer. It is nice to finally to do business with people who not only know what they are doing but are also consistently fair and respectful of my time, vehicles and wallet. I tell all my friends about you and how you can eat off the floor in the place… and if you don’t have food to eat off the floor, they give you that also!

I decided to try out Protech based solely on other Unilocal reviews and I was not disappointed. I want to say the service was exemplary, but exemplary does not even begin to describe the service I received here.
Nick and Andy did an outstanding job explaining to me what was going on with my car and helped me make an informed decision. You know how some places are super condescending? Not Protech. I felt like I was being talked to like a real person and, as a female, for once I felt comfortable having a conversation about my car.
This is not your ordinary auto service joint. Protech has an A+ business ethic, with friendly, honest people who truly make you feel like they have your best interest in mind.

I went in today because my tires went flat and both gas stations in the area did not have working air for me to fill them up myself. I went in and asked if they could fill them, and that I was more than willing to pay, they took my car in right away and brought it back within 15 minutes and didn’t even charge me. The inside is modern and welcoming and they have snacks and drinks. I will be coming here in the future or recommending this business to anyone who asks!

You can LITERALLY watch terrorists blowing stuff up and your oil being changed at the SAME TIME.
That’s right, thanks to new television technology you can watch CNN (I’ve noticed they’ve changed from Fox News, thank God) and the closed circuit footage of the mechanic working on your car on adjacent televisions. Pretty cool, huh?
It gets better. While watching terrorists blow stuff up and your oil being changed, you can Keurig your ass a cup of one of like a dozen different blends of coffee, shovel your face full of goldfish crackers, eat some APPLE SAUCE or perhaps even a banana.
Still not convinced your should bring your car here?
How about this: The people who work at Protech seem to make it a point to a) treat you like an intelligent individual, and b) not bang you in the ass on car repairs. It’s a beautiful thing, really. Whilst watching CNN/​my mechanic I listened to a worker take about ten minutes to explain a repair, in exquisite detail, to an older gentleman who had some questions. While I had my old beater car they took me in the back and I had a little meeting with the mechanic who worked on the car, and then both the mechanic and the guy from the office explained to me that — get this — they could fix the problem BUT they thought it may not be in MY BEST FINANCIAL INTEREST to do so. You read that right — they passed on a sale in order to give me their honest opinion on how best to handle the issues with the vehicle.
I’ve never left this place feeling like I’ve been taken advantage of, and several members of my family now say the same thing. Absolutely recommended.
Oh, one last thing: The place does look like a chain because it looks — you know — good on the outside. It’s not a lousy chain like Midas, etc. I believe it’s run by a New England Tech graduate. Just wanted to mention that in case you’re (wisely) allergic to chain auto repair joints.

Super clean. Super friendly. Lots of bells and whistles for the person in the waiting lounge… but they need to order parts lots of the time (so you’ll need to come back another time) and also are really quite expensive. $ 50+ for an oil change?! Egad!

Protech puts the capital C in customer service and education!
If you’re a driver «of a certain age» you’ve no doubt owned more than a few cars and had them maintained by a number of automotive service providers. Having owned cars in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, using both dealer and independent shops, I can attest I’ve never experienced *anything* on par with Protech.
After two highly rewarding experiences with their service this year, including both tune-​up, new tires and wheel alignment for my 07 Honda CRV, Protech can call me a customer for life. Superior work, customer education and honest, fair pricing are their mission, and they deliver!
In an industry rife with fraud, price gauging and the like, Protech provides a full complement of fairly priced service delivered by well-​trained technicians. And, educating customers is a key part of the Protech experience. Before you leave the shop, you’ll know what the technicians found and, more importantly, how and why it needs fixing.
So, honest service and a free education — all this in a super-​friendly waiting area with complimentary wifi, beverages and snacks that rival a luxury car dealership service area.
But don’t take my word for it. Stop in and say hi to Nick, Tony and the rest of the Protech team. Once inside, all of the positive reviews you’ve read here will all make sense.
And don’t forget to give a big, sloppy kiss to their canine colleague, Shelby. She had me at «hello!»
4÷4÷14 UPDATE: Just when you think you’ve gushed enough, Protech gives even MORE REASON to share the goodness.
So, after my 4-​tire replacement and alignment, I drive down the street from Protech and notice the tire light has come on. Back to the shop I go to explain the situation. After no less than four apologies from Protech’s stellar team and an explanation that a valve stem was leaking (not part of the new tires, but the wheel itself), they fix it FREE OF CHARGE and I’m on my way again. Seriously, I can’t recall a car repair shop EVER apologizing to me nor providing complimentary service for something not related to the tires (purely coincidental). And, to further compensate me for «my troubles,» I’m handed a handful of coupons for HALF-​OFF oil changes.
Somebody pinch me – this company is too good to be true, and yet it’s NOT! =)

Great experience if you are going to sit for a while. The interior is designed for the busy person. Lots of computer ports and a few PC’s, wireless, TV, free coffee and water. Very well done. They even have monitors so you can see your car being worked on.
You do pay a premium though for all of that convince. They are designed to provide you service on just about all makes and models, but if you need a part, for a foreign, you may have to come back. So that is also a down side.
All in all though, I think they are certainly in the top 5 spots I have dealt with in RI.

Can’t say enough good things about this place.
First off, the customer service is exemplary. When you call you are always greeted with a friendly voice, no matter the request. (Or dumb questions that I for sure have had!)
Services performed are always done in a timely manner. I have full trust that whatever service needs are being performed on our vehicles they are being done properly. It’s nice to be able to have that.
The waiting area is awesome. Clean, comfortable, with complimentary drinks; coffee, water, and snacks; chips, crackers, candy, fruit.
With two young boys we are a busy family and we appreciate Protech taking such great care of our vehicles.

Finally an honest mechanic! We started taking our cars here a year or two ago. We’ve had nothing but good experiences. They never try to gouge us or try to scare us into unnecessary services or repairs. The staff is friendly and greets me by name. They’ve been very accommodating in several urgent situations. Recently, my car bottomed out and I heard a sound from underneath. I took it to them to check it out and it turned out that nothing important was damaged. I was ready to pay them just for their time checking it out, but to my surprise they charged nothing!
