Please disregard any negative reviews you see about this place. My girlfriend and I went on a whim and let me tell you, we were very very impressed. The place is large and very clean. Yeah, you get the occasional urine smell, but it’s a pet store. Every employee we encountered was warm and personable and helped us with any questions we had. The tanks the reptiles were kept in were adequately sized, had correct temps and humidity and were SPOTLESS. All animals were fed and beyond healthy. Upon supervision you can see any animal you want. The two gentlemen in charge of the reptile room had amazing attention to detail and you can tell they care about what they do. Every animal looked healthy and happy. There was a section that housed unhealthy animals away from the collection that received special care and attention and had Not for sale stickers on them. This was huge for me because most shops are so quick to make a dollar they’d sell you a sick animal in a heartbeat. Most shops don’t even know a sick animal when they see one. Two big thumbs up for that one. I would absolutely have no problem getting an animal from them as I know the stupendous level of care that they’ve all received. This place is legit. Props to the owners and all staff as they deserve a huge pay raise. I will without a doubt be going back very soon, and maybe even purchasing an animal from them. Nice job I am VERY impressed.

Eh. I had quite a few people recommend this place to me and I truly wanted to like this place and support local business, but this place was just not what I expected. They have a lot of empty shelves, no one asks if you need help, and it smells very bad inside. I was willing to overlook the smell of urine IF they had anything I could possibly buy. I was very disappointed and I would not return. It’s run down and not a place I’d trust to purchase animals, fish, reptiles, etc.

I absolutely love this place ! This is my go to pet store for all 5 of my pets !
This place is so much fun, which so much to see and all the help you get from the owners. Every time me or my lovely fiancé go here to get pet supplies and pet food the owners always have answers for us, and they’re so sweet. The prices are incredible too.
For example I have a bearded dragon and he eats a lot of stuff ranging from crickets to caterpillars and worms, and the prices here are amazing and the location is perfect.
I also have a bunny, a parrot and 2 parakeets. So they have all my needs here all in one place.
I just love this place, the prices and owners make me both happy!

I wish I could give 0 stars but for the sake of leaving this review to let the public know, one it is. By far the most disheartening experience I have ever had in a pet store. It was just cruel seeing how and where they keep these animals they have for both sale and display. Two kittens sleeping in their litter box, cloudy fish tanks in a room that smelled of urine, rabbits, guinea pigs, tortoises surrounded in feces and flies. Let’s not forget about the smell through out. I’m not sure where all these decent reviews are coming from, but… I genuinely feel like we are talking about a completely different place. Do not reccommend.

Literally the rudest people ever. The frizzy woman who works there is incredibly rude and mean, cares ONLY about money and not about animals. She keeps one rabbit that isn’t for sale cooped up in a small cage and never lets anyone handle them. The rest of the rabbits are just Dutch. That’s it from what I saw, no variety. There is an alligator in a small enclosure with no room to exercise. There are two cats who seem to live there and always seem to be sick. The only animals that are handled are the reptiles because she hires reptile people to put on shows. For money. Because she is money hungry and doesn’t really care about the animals in my opinion. She seems to hate her job. She has a horrible attitude, always swears, and snaps at everyone. She is unprofessional and is not cut out to be taking care of animals. There doesn’t seem to be a speck of compassion left in her. Only greed.

I have been a faithful customer for over 15 years. Don’t waste your time at a retail chain store. Buy local and get a better price and a healthier pet or just stop in and the alligator. I would never buy a pet or pet care products anywhere else.

I have been a customer of Pure Paradise for over a year now and through out this time they have been so helpful. When I thought my ball python was sick, they gave me some really helpful advice that saved my snake and me a very expensive vet bill. They recently remodeled the place and it looks great!

I’ll never go back. Too many reptiles. Very small enclosures. And they have an alligator in a tank with 3 turtles and fish. This tank couldn’t be more than 40 gallons. Just sad. I walked out almost in tears. I took pics, the green iguanas look dehydrated and the monitor was too big for her cage. Scratching to get out the entire time I was there. Made me sad.

Nowadays you essentially get spat upon if you get your pet from a pet store and not the local shelter, but I had a specific need and a friend (who is a vet tech and animal lover) recommended I go here. I was in need of a black kitten, as my husband regulated me to black cats only and he’s particularly fond of kittens. My friend tipped me off that they had a litter of black kittens so I went to check it out. I ended up getting the last kitten in the litter, and the people working there seemed so genuinely excited and happy that he was going to a home. They were helpful and had a special running that day so I received a discount too. Also, if you buy a pet from here you receive a complimentary check-​up visit to North Paws vet clinic in Smithfield. Great little store!

I love this place! I have been coming here since I was a little girl at their older location! There are always a nice assortment of animals to look at!
Recently it smelled a little harsher than normal and I noticed the two older owners were not there so this seemed to be new to me. I’ve always remembered it to be clean.
They do a good job with trimming nails of animals my rabbits and birds!
Their a little bit expensive but they carry things that other stores don’t!

They had one item I was looking for — it’s really not a place for dog owners at all as it seems to be more of a fish reptile place. Plus there is a bad oder that makes your skin crawl no pun intended when you walk in. Even though it’s close I unfortunately cannot go back in.

I purchased a cat from here and they told me that the cats were healthy etc. They give you a «free» vet visit which really just covers the visit. Not the shots, tests, etc. I brought the kitten to the vet and it not only had worms (that they said they treated the kitten for already) but some type of sickness. I brought the paperwork back to the store and they basically told me there was nothing they could do… Even though they claimed the kitten was healthy. Very rude and careless. Besides that I do love my cat and she is now very healthy. Also the alligator they have there should not be in a cage. Will not shop there ever again.

Not only is it a pet store, but it’s almost part zoo with their own pets! There’s an alligator, an anaconda, and an Iguana that roams the reptile room just to name a few.
Again, Great store! I’ve already gone back here a few times, and will continue to do so!

This place is great! As a reptile owner I appreciate the fact that they’ve got an alligator, anaconda and a ton of well kept, healthy reptiles in their shop.
The reptile room is my favorite place. it even comes complete with it’s own Iguana guardian! He scared the hell out of me the first time I saw him as he was laying on top of a cage and I didn’t see him until he shifted a bit.
As far as supplies go, they’ve got a great variety of products for all animals and you’re bound to find some other fun goodies for your pets.
I buy all of my worms and crickets from here and they are the best kept live feed I’ve ever seen.
I’ve found a shop that I’ll goto as long as I live close and support as long as I’m a pet owner.

Great staff! Always friendly. Great selection of animals and products. Always something interesting to see. They offer a great reptile themed birthday party. I had one for my daughter a year ago and everyone loved it. Would recommend to all!

Short & Sweet
The owner thinks his sh*t doesn’t stink, and the mother yelled at me for standing too close to her birds, mind you… the kid next to me was petting them… I walked out …
HOWEVER, on the other hand, they have a great selection of live animals, and pet necessities.

Not a huge selection, but gets 5 stars for the zoo factor. As Amanda mentioned it is a trip to the zoo.
They have a large bird, fish, and reptile selection. They don’t keep many dogs and cats, but do have them.
They are almost done with a big addition they are making for there female snake. It is huge and in a glass case right now.
Alligator is cool and very interesting to see in a pet store.
I stop in here all the time, it breaks the time from me doing my laundry next door at Jane’s.

We’ve known these guys forever, so I can’t complain! I think their fish stock is ok, although I have bought my blind cave fish here, and they are amazing. I got my cat here a few years back, and they were a bit cold when my cat (kitten at the time) got incredibly sick. I probably can say please just don’t get a cat here… GO ADOPT ONE!
The bird food selection is pretty awesome. The reptiles are worth to go look at (and if you’re into herps, go ahead and buy them, I’m sure they’re 100% worth it). The only thing that freaks me out is this is the owner that a few years back got arrested for mail ordering a bunch of dyed baby chicks… yeah weird. I don’t think it’s the best press for them.
Overall, this place is ok. Please don’t buy puppies or kittens here though… adopt them! The fish — I’d say make sure you have a hospital tank. They did however help me with choosing parasite medication last year for my tank. They had a great selection of meds for them.

This is the best pet store EVER.
I walked into this place for some cat food once and got a real shocker in return (no not that kind).
They have big arse alligator, some big arse tortoises walking around, a bunch of huge birds that’ll talk to you, two HUGE iguanas that walk around by themselves in the fish room sometimes. it’s like going to a zoo for free!
I bring everyone I know to this place when they come to visit, it’s so cool. Not sure how legal all of it is, but it’s still really cool.
Oh, they also sell animals (kittens, bunnies, other vermin, reptiles, fish) and pet supplies too: P
It’s right over the North Providence line in Smithfield, on 44 on the way to that big plaza with all the stores.
