I have been here once. They have an all you can eat sushi buffet which is made to order fro $ 20-$ 25 per person. This menu includes sushi, appetizers such as chicken wings and nime chow. There is also fried rice I believe. The food comes out quickly and the waitress was attentive and always refilling our glasses without having to be asked.

I got the lunch special, two rolls, the other day. I was stuffed! Such a great bargain for sushi lunch. I learned I’m not a huge miso soup fan, but I don’t think thats because of where I got the soup from. Really glad my sister recommended this place, especially cause Sushi makes me feel like less of a fatty when I’m looking for a quick lunch cause I didn’t have time to pack one for work. And its now BYOB!

My second lunch trip to this place and it’s A-OK. I wasn’t wow’ed by anything in particular of this place, but the lunch special was decently priced. Located on a busy location close to the corner of Hartford Avenue and Atwood Avenue so can be a bit of a trek. My first experience about a year or so was very so-so and it was a take out. The waitresses while very charming and nice couldn’t make up the flaws of the chef who gave us our lunch order with a key component missing which was RICE. You’d think this is easy stuff to remember but perhaps it was my fault for not double checking my order and finding out back at the office. By then it wasn’t worth the trip back to pick up rice but the Spicy Beef that I did get was pretty good but left me unfulfilled. This recent trip back with two of my co-workers I actually ate there. Again I tempted with the lunch special but now it seems that they integrated Thai cuisine into the menu so I opted to give their Drunken Noodles a chance as well as Tom Yum soup with Tofu. My other co-workers ordered a Pad Thai and Chicken Teriyaki. We also got an order of BBQ Beef. The BBQ Beef was close to beef teriyaki but not as tender as I would like so it took a few chews. My Tom Yum soup was WAY too salty versus spicy and I actually longed for the soup mix coming out of the can over this Sodium-enriched version. After that I could barely taste my drunken noodles which didn’t have any kick to it either. While my co-worker enjoyed his chicken teriyaki, my other one had to pick off scallions that he had asked not to be included in his order so meh. Not sure what’s up with this lackluster lunch. For a Friday I expected more than just one or two people at this place but perhaps they do better at dinner or just making sushi. So pros, cute waitress, nice décor, ample parking they share with Luigi’s Italian Restaurant, but cons questionable chef and food quality. I probably won’t go back for a while though their all-you-can-eat specials on Monday and Tuesday lunch are tempting…

Wow, Wasabi! I am so glad I finally found you. You exceeded my expectations with your many fresh rolls, great lunch offerings, beyond reasonable prices, and one of the most friendly sushi chefs around — Sam gets a special shout out from my uncle, who had not had sushi in literally years and appeared to be won over by his experience here. They offer many wonderful combinations as well as no carb options for the waistline-conscious. This restaurant offers many options to the budget conscious — from inexpensive(and filling) lunch specials to all-you-can-eat sushi(I believe on Monday nights). The only reason this gets 1 less star is the location/atmosphere… it is in a strip mall and the décor here reflects the location, but that will not deter me from going back and soon.

We stopped by Wasabi today for a quick lunch. The atmosphere and décor are plain, nothing special. The server was nice but unfortunately never asked about how are lunch tasted. We ordered the 3 roll sushi special(King crab, Spicy Tuna, and Boston roll), all three tasted fresh and were delicious, couldn’t have been happier! The Thai dish we ordered though(drunken noodle) was a disaster! It tasted like an over-sauced dish you would get at PF Chang’s in Providence, it was nasty! Go for the sushi but avoid their Thai dishes!

Gave Wasabi the old college try. Complete 180. Great food, some of the best service I’ve had. All you can eat sushi was a god send. Incredible experience. Negated the bad last time.

Wasabi is a bright, airy sushi restaurant — that to my understanding started recently offering Thai options as well. I work fairly close to Wasabi, so it’s a great place to grab a quick bite to eat during lunch breaks. The portions are large, and their weekday lunch specials are very reasonably priced. The folks that work there are always very friendly and provide great service — it’s completely feasible to go there, order, eat, and be out in 30 minutes. Can’t be that! My only«complaint» is the place looks a bit beat. There are what appear to be gauges in the walls from furniture being moved or something similar. It really takes away from the appeal of the location.

Really good, fresh sushi. The sushi lunch for $ 13 was a steal, and it was just the right amount of food. The dressing on the house salad was fantastic! I will definitely be returning for dinner sometime soon.

I gave this place a two because outta all the sushi places I’ve been in RI they serve the most rice on a roll. While the inside has a tiny amount of whateva they put in it… Soba noodles look like ramen noodles. Fish is fresh ., the only thing I liked was the hong roll even though it had alot of rice… The cheesy mayo sauce made it good. Plus the crunch drizzles with eel sauce!

Oh, yes! Yes! YES!!! What joy, what bliss! Wasabi is totally worth the trip to Johnston, kids. Not only is their sushi delicious and fresh, it’s really very fun to eat. Their rolls are quite different than other sushi joints in the area, offering a spin on the standard rolls like combining tuna with seaweed salad to make a simple but stand-out roll. The flavors are clean and never muddled, but kept interesting with fun combos and beautiful plating. I know the strip-mall setting is a bit off-putting, and admittedly I never would have stopped here had I not heard all of the kerfuffle on Unilocal. The atmosphere is a bit drab, but the service was great and our very friendly and attentive waitress never let me down. Wasabi also caters to those wary of sushi with a selection of cooked rolls, which I think is quite nice for kids who aren’t in the mood for deep-fried tempura platters. They’ll also give you brown rice upon request for any roll or nigiri Wednesday through Sunday. This attention to detail and consideration of their clientele brings a smile to this chick’s face. I’m in it for life, Wasabi!

We definitely enjoyed our early mother’s day lunch today. The fish was very fresh which is key for me with sushi. I swear the tuna just melts in your mouth! The cooked dishes were pretty good as well but the star here is definitely the sushi. I enjoy having the option of brown rice and unlike others I’ve had it does not make the rolls dry. They have 4 flavors of fried ice cream including my favorite, red bean. The service was also very nice. For a Saturday it was almost empty which was surprising, especially mother’s day weekend. I’m sure we will be back. I am still pretty sold on Jacky’s down the street but this was a nice change of pace.

I really can’t believe this place has such high scores… no offense but you can’t have good sushi with bad rice… way too much vinegar in the rice, way too much rice on the maki rolls. With that being said, the service is good and the sushi is decent. Lots of rolls to choose from which is nice.

Really great neighborhood sushi spot. Consistently fresh fish, good prompt service and friendly sushi chefs. They have some pretty creative«cooked» rolls which aren’t really my thing but seem to be popular. Being in a predominantly Italian neighborhood, they’ve added some inspiration to the menu serving one roll with a «garlic aioli». All in all I love that the fish is fresh, scorpion bowls are cheap and Monday — Tuesday night they do some kind of All you can eat deal.

I’m always surprised at how few people have rated this place. A couple of my friends introduced me to Wasabi last spring and now I come here at least once a week for takeout. Their sushi is the most consistent I’ve found in the area and it’s definitely worth the short trip from Providence to Johnston. The fish is always fresh, expertly cut, and the service is top-notch. They are also very accommodating with substitutions in rolls. My favorite thing about Wasabi is that they offer brown rice for their nigiri or maki from Wednesday through Sunday. It’s the only sushi spot in the area that I’ve seen do that and there’s nothing I love more than some tasty maguro nigiri with made with brown rice. Give Wasabi a try, but don’t tell too many people about it!

Wow no one has reviewed this yet. Surprised. Very good sushi. Outside of the restaurant will scare you it does not look appetizing. But once inside you will see it is a basic sushi bar type restaurant. Sushi was very good and fresh. They had about 3 sushi chef’s working on a Friday when I was in there and it was fast and fresh. I got Miso soup that was very good and my girlfriend got a seaweed salad that was very good as well. They have an extensive menu that will satisfy non sushi eaters. I have only tried the sushi so can’t help on that. They have Gluten free beer and will cook Gluten free if you advise of the allergy. No separate menu though.
