Tulune’s Southside Saloon was a great find for my short time spent in Johnstown. If you are a craft beer enthusiest, lover, etc, this place should be on your list of places to visit. Not only did they have a hard-to-find beers in bottles and on tap, but the bar tenders were also very atune to my taste in beers and would have suggestions for me on my subsequent visits. They were knowledgable, down to earth beer lovers w/o any hint of snobitude. Also worth noting are their selections of Icy Blue Taints, which are fun and tasty. They knew I was only transiently in Johnstown but made me feel overwhelmingly welcomed. The food choices and quality is above your average pub fare. A lot of house specialities and made-in-house sauces. There was not a single item I ordered that I did not enjoy to the fullest. My only gripe is that fries/sides did not come with their burgers. Every Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm they have trivia. This is in the style of three, 15q rounds, MC’d and questions posted on two large TVs. The Thursday game tended to be quite larger than the Tuesday in terms of attendance. Though they say the game starts at 8pm, it usually started around 8:15pm. No complaints about that though, it was a great time to spend time with friends. Games lasted until roughly 10pm. Winning team received a house gift certificate I believe. I didn’t take time to commit to memory what the winning prizes were since I never came close to winning. Atmosphere: Upon walking in you may mistake this place as being just another dive. Posted numerous times are signs stating«No Jerks Allowed» …which helped set the tone of what to expect: A welcoming, warm, and great place to meet people. The lighting is perfect –bright enought to see everyone, everything, but not harsh in the slightest. Music level and selection is great. You can easily have a conversation with out having to shout, let alone strain to hear who you are talking to. Much like any bar in that side of town, it’s not new and has its obvious marks of wear and tear(This being an observation, not a complaint.) The bar area is seporated from the dining room is such a way that you need to walk the length of the bar then make an about-face at the end to enter the dining room. The restrooms are also a pecular set up which I have not encountered anywhere else before. Like I said, observation, not a complaint. Overall: The staff and beer selection are what set this place apart from other establishments in town. The food is adequate to quench most cravings and drunken hungers. Fun relaxed place to gather with friends, play a game of trivia, and have a civilized conversation with a new friend.

The owners need to wake up. This place had a style, but its gone so far down hill that even the employees are negative about the place. The beer is way over priced and you can’t find a good item on the menu due to horrendous quality. Pains me to say because I love the people and what it used to be but I can’t in good consciousness recommend the place anymore. Please change my opinion guys, I dont want to see the place close. Also, the good reviews on here are accurate, but look at the dates. No new reviews because its so bad anymore. I wish it was the place it used to be…

This bar offers a wide variety of beers and spirits to appeal to everyone. From staples such as Yuengling to $ 20 a bottle Belgian imports, there is something for everyone. Though I have never been to one, they have events such as trivia night and the occasional musical performance. The food is pretty delicious and priced fairly but if you are not at the bar or main area, you can expect varying amounts of waiting for your order. I’ve had quick service and didn’t get my order for almost an hour service. An overall great place to go for a bit of late night fun. Just remember, «No Jerks Allowed!»

Home of the Icy Blue Taint! The drink the royally kicked my butt. They have a literal book of these in alphabetical order with any alcohol imaginable in them. I had too many… But before that I took part in a few of their many many beers in bottled selection. Tried a few new ones and had a grand ol’ time here. This is Johnstown, PA after all. They don’t have much else going on but this literal hole in the wall is the life of the party in town. A great, fun staff which honestly doesn’t have to care too much about«quality of service» as long as they keep the booze flowing. The location is a bit inconvenient. It was only by luck that we had a bus to take the whole group of us there and back to the hotel. Otherwise… no way would I get into a car! Unless it was to sleep in the back seat.

I travel for a living and eat out hundreds of times a year. It’s very hard to knock my socks off but this place did it in spades! If these folks were close to me I’d move in and never leave. This place has the holy trinity for me. It has a wonderful dive bar atmosphere, an incredible beer selection and great food. The icing on the cake is a super staff. I stopped in yesterday around happy hour. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but there is a nice easy parking lot. I walked in the door and smiled. Beautiful bartender Kate immediately made me feel welcome. I was already in dive bar heaven. I asked for the beer menu and was given pages and pages and pages laminated and organized nicely. This was going to be good. As I sipped on my first delicious craft beer I perused the food menu. Every kind of casual food you could want is represented. Fried food, burgers, salads, wraps, sandwiches, pizza and assorted other stuff. It’s all there. I ordered the Mighty Meaty 9″ pizza for about 10 bucks. It was buried in delicious meats and just what I needed to go with my beers. It wa
