Chicken-N-Spice

When I found this place on Unilocal,I was sceptical at first, because everyone claims that they have the best chicken. This is not always the case. But I went ahead and gave them a try and I must say it was delicious. I like my spicy chicken a bit spicer but the chicken was very flavorful. And oh man was those biscuit buttery and tasty. I was not a big fan of the dirty rice though, it lacked something. Also the italian beef while it had some goos flavor was very skimpy. The macaroni bites and French fries were awesome too. This place definitely get a packed as well so you might want to call ahead. I would definitely come back here for the chicken, fries and macaroni bites.

Hand down the BEST chicken around! Their chicken chunks are huge and delicious! This family owned business has been around for a very long time and it’s credibility is genuine with all of the different patches they have on display from various departments. While the inside may not be the cleanest in the world, the atmosphere is definitely unique! A Joliet classic!

Best chicken in Joliet bar none! Long standing family business has been serving Joliet for a long time, after I moved to Plainfield I keep going back to downtown Joliet for this chicken! Chunks N Jo Jos are a must have, only concern in the dine in area isn’t always the cleanest but w/​as much business as the do I can see it takes a bit to clean up

Chicken is juicy and delicious!!! Potato wedges are crispy on the outside, yet soft on the inside. Prices are pretty good also! My only critique would be that the biscuit I had wasn’t as soft and flaky as a biscuit would usually be.

Oh yea this place hits the spot. Can’t go wrong with the George and eddie. One side you must choose is the mac and cheese bites they are top notch with a slight kick to them. Owners seem nice and i saw her helping out the local homeless wich was nice to see.

This place is dirty, I’m not sure how anyone is comfortable eating here. I arrived on a Monday at 9pm, The floor was wet (with no wet floor signs, I should have fell on purpose lol).We ordered chicken chunks, 4 piece of regular chicken, Jo Jo’s, NASTY rice (horrible and flavorless), and mac n cheese bites. The food was average at best. The chicken chunks were just O.K. nothing to drive to Joliet for, but I might try them again if I’m in the neighborhood. The mac n cheese bites and the biscuit are great, I’ve aready warned you about the awful «dirty rice» I also ordered a fruit Punch that tasted like sewer water. I went back to change it and the cashier already knew-​so she purposely sold me «fruit punch» with an awful taste? I got a sprite which also tasted like sewer water-​something needs to be cleaned in the soda machine or the water needs to be checked. Once I got home I discoved that ALL of my rice was all over the bag because they don’t separate the sides in a small container its just thrown on top of the chicken. It’s cool though because the rice does not taste good.

The name says it all. Simple. It’s all about the fried chicken. No frills, no ambience, just fried chicken and some sides. If that’ what you want, then go get it at Chicken N Spice.

The chicken is WAY better than anything I have had. The police patches on display give the place credibility. You know it is good when cops go there a lot.
Get the «chunks»

Grew up in Manhattan, lived in the area my whole life. How did I not know about this place? Holy hell it’s amazing! CHICKEN CHUNKS FOR THE WIN!!! Absolutely perfect fry, nowhere even close to greasy. Super juicy and unique breading! Their cole slow is nothing short of freakin’ amazing. And the biscuits! I should set up a shrine in our house for those things! If you want to top it off, get the lemonade! Tastes like a lemon shake-​up.

Chicken n spice is the place to go for chicken chunks, its twice the size of any chicken nugget youll get anywhere, its a delicious piece of chicken that is lightly breaded and it is very juciey and has an amazing taste, you can get several different dipping sauces to try, but be sure to eat the first one without sauce so you can enjoy the real flavor of the chicken, the cole slaw is very flavorful and nice and creamy, i also recommend the potato wedges they great with a dollop of sour cream, you will enjoy this place, if you havent gone there before, give it a try and surprise your family with a most delicious meal, bring home a 20 piece special dinner.

I had chicken and spice’s chicken chunks for my baby shower, they were amazing. A good friend had recommended them to us and it was delicious. The food was packed and ready on time. All the chicken was gone so quick. Everyone enjoyed it. Chicken and spice is also always my family’s to-​go to spot for a chicken meal. The food is always fresh and the service is always great. Very clean place.

Just come and try this place out! Everything on the menu is amazing! You won’t regret it! Been driving from Chicago to get this for the past 7 years!

A Joliet tradition! I have never eaten in, but have ordered out many times. Chicken chunks are of course the favorite. You only get sauces based on how many chunks you order so keep that in mind. Biscuits are also very tasty! Employees are always super nice. Small parking lot to the side. I would recommend ordering ahead and picking up. We’ve used them for parties many times and the order is always ready, hot and waiting to go.

I’ve been here twice and while the food is cheap, I just though everything lacked flavor. The chicken is so bland so my liking but the workers were nice and the place is pretty clean considering it is fast and cheap food.

A great selection of quickly prepared comfort food delights await you (Breakfast included!). I tried the 4 piece chicken dinner ($ 7.29) with a side of onion rings for $ 1.00 extra and was not disappointed. Ignore the reviews saying that it’s located in a run down neighborhood, from my seat in the dining area I can see the Will County Clerk’s Office, an Illinois State Police Office and the Joliet Junior College City campus. The dining area is well taken care of, and tables are cleaned as soon as the patrons leave. Overall a great experience, I plan to come back.

One of my favorite places in the Joliet area! This places has been around for a long time and they are known for their chicken chunks. They are amazing! If you haven’t tried the spice you definitely should.

A downtown Joliet staple, Chicken-​N-​Spice provides the fast food experience of a fried chicken joint with great flavor and unique sides.
Typically my family orders platters for special events, but I chose to stop by today and enjoy a lunch since I was in the area. There’s a great lunch special with 3 chicken chunks + biscuit + drink + 2 sides for $ 10! I chose to combine my two sides for jalapeño and nacho cheese fries, picked up a bottled water, and added a coleslaw (see picture).
I was so used to chicken chunks being slightly tough and dry due to the reheating and transport necessary with family platter purchases, I was surprised to find the chicken quite soft and juicy! I’ve always loved their BBQ sauce (strangely similar to Open Pit), but my favorite is the hot BBQ. I ended up eating all but one chunk of chicken and the biscuit which I took home.
The restaurant and area are a bit rundown, but the clientele and staff are very friendly. Be careful as you walk, however, as the constant deep frying spreads a layer of grease on the floor which brought my sandals to slide slightly when I walked.

I was here recently and this place still rocks. Consistent and great every time. One of the best places to get chicken not just for lunch or dinner but for a picc or party as well. Alway a hit and everybody likes it so far. Keep up the good work!

I’ve been to this place a few times pre-​yelp, but now that I’m a member and have been since, I must give kudos to their offerings.
Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, potato wedges, chicken chunks, onion rings – everything your greasy heart would ever desire. Clearly not some place you could eat at often without having your body hate you, it’s best served as an occasional treat to your gluttonous urges. I will say that for what the food is, it still is better than your chain stuff like KFC which is just so crusted and full of yuck. If you’re in Joliet, make it a point to stop by, even if you get something small. It may look like a dive, and it is certainly a hole in the wall place, but the food is fantastic for its «genre.»

Was in the area for work from Chicago. Food meaning chicken is good — ⁸⁄₁₀ greasy yes. But every now and then it’s fine. Area wasn’t appealing at all (but maybe because I’m from Chicago & into nicer restaurants) The employees had their drinking cups all of the counter and cookies?! Bathroom was gross — for as many employees there were they couldn’t clean up the restroom? Anyways not sure if I’d come back.
Mac n cheese bites?! Tried & nothing special it does have a little kick.
Biscuit wasn’t really good
