If they worried more about the food and less about selling stuff they might be better. Had breakfast. Slow service despite being there being few people. Bacon was soft like it had been boiled or held in some grease. Potatoes were almost cold. Mind you there are very few people eating. At least the eggs were cooked. Pancakes tasted like they microwaved. The syrup is awful and has a funny aftertaste.

The food was delicious here and very filling it I do have one major complaint! The men’s room is discussing! There is pee on the floor, poop all over the toilets, the sinks are dirty, and it smells like 100 rats died in there! Unless they clean that mess up I will not be coming back

Great food, this is like eating back on the farm. I had the country steak wow it was good. Had just a little smoke flavor to it, and topped with gravy.3 sides filled out the plate cup of coffee and your good to go.

Slow service and was disappointed with the gravy which was not good at all. I love eating at Cracker Barrel, but this place makes me not want to come back. You’re better off avoiding the headache, specially if you’re hungry.

I do not know what has happened to this location. We arrived early, and yet after waiting alone in the dining room for 15 minutes with no coffee, water, greeting of any kind, our server finally stopped busing tables and told us they were out of the baked chicken special. OUT… at 12:20? We travel a lot, and go to Cracker Barrels all over the place, but this is the Worst time ever. The new Buttermilk chicken that looked so scrumptious on the menu, looked like 3 old flat small pancakes, hard and lukewarm. It just kept getting worse. No apologies from the bus boy/server, or explanation. The table next to us was having an even worse time of it, right down to the dirty silverware.

Disappointed! My hubby and I went on Monday at 1:00pm. We came in for the lunch special baked chicken and dressing which is a favorite of mine. The item was listed on the board and we were immediately seated. We sat for about ten minutes before a waitress came to our table. I ordered but was told they were out of it. The hostess was still telling people about the special as she was seating them. There is definitely no communication between staff. I ordered the chicken and dumplings with hash brown casserole and fried apples. The food arrived lukewarm, nothing was hot. The hash brown casserole was bland and crispy. The fried apples were very dark and appeared microwaved. When I paid the bill the cashier told me they run out of the lunch special very early and she doesn’t understand why they don’t make more. Make this girl a manager! We drive a long way to come here. I am very disappointed !

Service is as slow as ever. Waiting for food. Out of meat loaf for 45 mins. Clean but not fast. Substitute is $ 2.00 upcharge for soup. After the wait I am surprised. Lots of empty seats dor 7:30 pm on a friday night.

Our server Judy was such a delight. Very attentive and polite. Before we could even ask for more drinks she already had them in front of us. I have never had a bad experience here, they obviously hold there servers to high standards and expect them to provide the southern hospitality. Thank you for your great service Judy!

Good olé southern country cookin! Really enjoy their lemon pepper trout with fried okra and hash brown casserole on the side. Unique menu with many different sides to chose from. There house salad is really good, too. This place is a must try! I doubt you’ll be disappointed!

Mediocre at best. Service was good but food just OK. We came here for dinner at my kids request. I would have chosen Hero’s West across the street which is much better for dinner. However we ate here instead… The hashbrown casserole was very dry and not like it tastes in the morning. I think it was made early and just kept it warm all day. No one except my son was happy with the food. Just not right or what you would expect from cracker barrel. I’ve had much better here and other ones. Maybe just the cook that day was outta whack or management is not good…

This was an average cracker barrel. The food was average. There is nothing much special to say about this location. I bought a harmonica?

Came here about 2−3pm on a Sunday after a road trip, we figured no one can go wrong with C&B. The service was really awkward at first-like the host only used the terms«Alright» and he was kind of hovering over everything. Our server herself was good-wasn’t excellent, but wasn’t awful either. This was probably the worse food I’ve never had at a cracker barrel. Our Mac and Cheese was definitely burnt, it looked like they scraped the bottom of the pan and said«oh no one will notice!». The okra came out half delicious and half really soggy and cold. The meatloaf really did taste and look like dog food, it really wasn’t all that«solid» it just kind of crumbled and it was just a really gross taste/consistency. Next time, I’ll drive the extra 20 miles closer to the city to try the next one.

Whenever my family took road trips when I was a kid, we would stop at Cracker Barrels along the way to use their restrooms. They were guaranteed to be the cleanest around(and if we had behaved ourselves, we could pick out some candy in the Old Country Store). The Dude and I stopped at this particular Cracker Barrel because we had just spent the night at the TownePlace Suites next door. I didn’t even need to look at the menu: I wanted the hash brown casserole and their smoked sausage patties. Yum-o. Simple, inexpensive and downright delicious. Oh, and they also worked wonders on my post-wedding hangover. The only thing keeping this place from five stars is that the waitress was in a giant hurry to get our orders(the Dude wanted to peruse the menu a bit) and hustle us out. I know they get busy on Sunday mornings, but do you mind if I eat my food before you shove me toward the door?

Wow… why all the bad stars? I really liked everything about the Cracker Barrel, from the service, to the food, to the old country store! Service was very friendly. Our waitress stopped by early to get our drink orders. Then shortly after she took our order. We had the chicken fried steak with sides of mac and cheese, fried apples, hash browns, and turnips. The meal also included two biscuits. Everything was delicious!!! I don’t get to eat southern food too often which also added to my enjoyment of the entire experience. Afterward we shopped a little at the store. I found a few cute things that I liked but ended up with getting an old time favorite… GOBBSTOPPERS!!! I used to buy those candies right after elementary school. The good ol’ days!!! I miss them. The store also had a lot of other things from the past like boxed cracker jacks, nerds, different kinds of soda pop I had never heard of, and probably anything else from the past! Love the Cracker Barrel… Now if only they could put one in the South Loop…

My catfish wasn’t raw when it was served, so I guess they know how to cook their food now. There’s really not much else in this area of Joliet by the way of a sit-down restaurant, so you’re kinda stuck. Our waitress was phenomenal, however, and that was refreshing. Everything else about this place is 100% standard Cracker Barrel, indistinguishable from other locations, so I’d really only recommend this place to travelers.

This location in particular aggravates the hell out of me! Other locations have some good food. But I haven’t been back to any of them in a while. I get the same thing every time I go to a cracker barrel– The Chicken BLT I know exactly what I’m getting with the chicken tenders, sourdough bread, and honey mustard. Last time I went there, they were our of the regular chicken for the sandwich, and put some nasty freezer section chicken tenders on there. They were out of the usual honey mustard, and gave me a pack of honey mustard salad dressing to rip open and put on my sandwich. They can’t seem to grill the sourdough, it’s more like soggy greasy bread. The staff has gotten worse every time I have been here. Our last time here, the greeter/name taker at the door told us it would be about twenty minutes for a table, and he would just go somewhere else if he were us! We were jammed in a small table on the other side of the wall form the host stand. My chair was out in the isle of foot traffic, and an employee was leaning on the back of my chair while talking to the hostess. One of the most annoying points of this place is when they seat you. They have you walk out to the dining area, and make you wait standing at the fireplace while the bus boy just starts to clear off your table. You feel that you are clearly inconveniencing the employees while standing right in the main line of traffic between the two kitchen doors. It really is a shame about this place. Our family had been going to Cracker Barrel restaurants for at least 15 years. Until this place pissed me off for good, we were dining here almost every Sunday.

Having eaten at one of these joints before, somewhere else, wasn’t keen on stopping here for lunch. But after fast food and hotel«free» breakfasts opted for this place next to the gas station. True to form the food was c***! I was hungry too, especially after driving through the storm of the century in northern Indiana.
