HORRIBLE! I placed a hold on a book August 19, 2015 and today is October 12th. I went online to check the status and found that it was«shipped 13 days ago.» I called the library and asked about this and they had no idea where the book was. After researching this further, I received a call back telling me that they thank me for bringing this to their attention, but as of right now the book is in «a black hole.» They continued, telling me that, «what we are going to do for you is put you BACK on the hold list.» WHAT? All the way at the back of the line? NOTHANKYOU! Because of my address, I have access to Plainfield Public Library as well and will continue to use Plainfield’s facilities going forward. I also hold a Chicago Public Library card and will check that out today too. Chicago Public Library will issue library cards regardless of your address as long as you are in good standing with your library, meaning no fines, etc. I am extremely disappointed with Joliet Public Library — Black Road Branch. I have been using this facility with all family members for 10 years now without an issue. I understand things happen, but that I have to possibly wait another TWOMONTHS for a book is not acceptable and is not, in my mind, a suitable way to correct this error. I don’t necessarily want others pushed back either, but due to the library’s negligence in the transportation of held material, I’m frustrated that I will have to possibly wait another few months. Thanks for nothing Black Road!

This library branch is very charming, well stocked and laid out well. Parking is a bit tricky, but not impossible. I will be going back again.

I was very impressed with the library. Being inside, you would not be able to tell that the streets are littered with bums and crazy people outside during the day. It is very well laid out, clean, organized and everyone that works here is very friendly, approachable and helpful. If I lived in Joliet, this would probably be my go to study/work spot. There are plenty of tables all over, and the ones along the walls normally are within reach of a power outlet which is handy if you are using a laptop. If you have ever been to the Harold Washington Library downtown, this reminded me of a mini/micro version of that. Complete with an archives/micro-film section, media room, and plenty of computers to use.

So I can watch classic movies for free? Sweet! The Joliet Public Library sysytem is awesome! I get online, search the actor and bam! put that baby on hold from any library in the network, wait to hear it’s in and watch! Oh and they have books too. Trying that next ;)

They must have fired the cleaning lady because I could smell the dust in this joint. I had to leave because I kept sneezing. When I went to grab a book on the shelf I gave it the blow test. It failed! The sticker on the air conditioner that read change once a month must have gotten ripped to read. Change once! Other than that I think that this is a wonderful place.

Holy crap do I love this library. Its one of the best in Illinois. It was built in 1876 from the limestone that Joliet is famous for. It has an amazing collection of book every genre you can imagine. The library is half a city block. Its usually pretty quiet and they have a free parking lot across the street. Its a great library for adults and children with its own children’s reading section. The second floor has computers for the public and the staff is always ready to help you find what you need. Plus the old newspapers you can look at and print, its fabulous. I was born and raised in Joliet and moved to Los Angeles 4 years ago and I have to say, I have yet to see a library here that compares to this one. I miss it so much.
