A blast from the past neighborhood grocery store. They have the staples and the best part is the Meat Counter! The best meat you’ll find around. The potato sausage is incredible. They even take the membrane off of the ribs when you order them, Jewel’s butchers wont. Well worth the effort to find this gem in the off beaten path.

When I moved from New Lenox I was in need of a new meat market. My husband’s family had been using Mitchell’s for years. This is now the only place I go. Their cuts of meat are fantastic. The employees are so helpful and kind. It’s important to keep these small business owners in business. I suggest you give them a try.

Been going there all my life including my grandmother, mother, aunts, and cousins. Never had a piece of bad meat. Its nice to have a neighborhood store like this.

A hidden gem! From two towns over and was looking for a new meat market. Read the reviews on here and decided to try it. Great knowledgeable butcher with a great selection. Just tried the Wisconsin brats for lunch, very tasty! Looking forward to the others meats we picked up. Prices are very competitive with the big box store. Love going to mom and pop places. Worth the drive if you live a few towns over.

We are pleased to have found this little gem. We usually do a lot of our shopping at a big name grocer but I am looking for that small and local relationship not too far from home so this fit the bill. When we first pulled into the parking lot I was a little skeptical, since we are not familiar with the neighbor hood and live in a cookie cutter subdivision just west of Mitchell’s. We walked in and checked out the meat department and I was instantly sold. We placed an order for some rib tips that were not available and ordered some meat and cheeses. When the day came to pick our order up, I was able to call and confirm that the order was there and all this was done with professionalism, and you can tell their customers happiness is important to them. We will be back and excited to get to know those behind the meat counter at Mitchell’s.

My family used to own a grocery store that was built around customer service and our meat dept. Their meat dept. is outstanding. The best place to get meat. Tony’s on rte. 59 in Plainfield is the only other place that I get ribs and steaks. I will always go to here first though.

A classic, superb«Mom & Pop’s» grocery store. The kind of small business that we all need to support. The meat counter is superb, with great product and butchering. Their ground beef is so far better than the local megamart crap. Yeah, you will spend a couple dollars more for the items off the shelf, but you’ll feel better making purchases from a small business that has nice people in it.

Yes! Mitchell’s is by far the best place to get your fresh deli and meats. We moved out here 40 years ago and been shopping at Mitchell’s ever since!

Its great to see a small old-fashioned grocery stand on its own among the sea of superstores out there overwhelming our neighborhoods. Sure seems like nothing here has changed a bit from when I started patronizing this establishment some 15 years ago. I believe they’re more well known for their meat and deli section. Such high quality at a great price(their hot Italian sausages are my favorite). Next time you’re in the area and get a hankering for some groceries, skip the chains and give this place a visit.
