As my dream of starting afresh in Jonesboro came crashing down around me like a BP oil platform and with my ex spouting crazy talk like
a ruptured oil line, I had to make a quick escape from Jonesboro. And I mean quick since she kicked me out of her house. I had already called and reserved a small 10′ truck to move my meager belongings to Decatur but I needed something a bit sooner. Caught a cab over to the U-​Haul around 5 p.m. and all they had was a 14″ truck. They rented it to me for the same price as the smaller vehicle and I got my stuff loaded and U-​Hauled it out of town, driving the four hours to Decatur along moon-​lit Highway 72. It has a 40 gallon tank but since I hadn’t very much, I got probably closer to 15 mpg. Came with a decent am/​fm radio and cup holder for my Dr. Pepper and smoked almonds. The truck rode great and I only filled up once before turning it in. Thanks U-​Haul, you saved my skin!
