Great food. Nice atmosphere. Steak Tips were over the top. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area. It was a nice surprise to find this place.

Thanks to Jason’s recommendation I had the best lamb burger ever, topped with a delish curry sauce. Interesting and creative menu, right up my alley. Enjoyed the bone marrow appetizer… Which led to my doodle’s favorite doggy bag ever…

Very original burgers with new cuts and types of meat. They have bison, lamb… Combined with their carefully made sauces, it all makes a very good and filling burger. Their fries are good, and the option to have two dipping sauces is a great thing with some surprises: the wasabi mayo is surprising, and the classic eagle sauce is a to go if you want something flavorful. Congrats!

This was one of the first places my husband and I came to eat after moving to Joplin from the San Francisco Bay Area. When we left, my husband said, «you shouldn’t have brought me here because every time you ask me what I want for dinner, this is what I’m going to say.» We had mussels, and they were better than the ones we paid 2x as much for in CA. The pancetta addition was a knock out. We split a burger, the only complaint was there was too much bun for what we ordered. Mac n cheese covered hot dog? Yes. And then a few more yesses. Jalapeño margarita was spot on. The perfect blend of flavor and heat. Thank you for helping ease the pain of leaving the Bay Area food scene. The Eagle Drive-In would be a hit there, too. The only request I have is to find some better buns. PLEASE. your burgers are so delicious, but the buns are so plain.

Unilocal convinced us to go. We never would have stepped in by the outside. Looks like an old timey greasy burger joint… But it was packed inside with never an empty table. Gourmet burgers with beef, bison, elk, and lamb. The mussels are delicious and plentiful. My husband had the eagle burger and said it was great.

Let’s just say this is a Diamond in the rough. Excellent food, amazing twist on the burger, and certainly something to satisfy everyone at Eagle. Other than the building being old and small, the food was big and new. Gourmet diner all the way. They even offer siracha ketchup in a list of amazing dipping sauces. Stop in and give these guys a try.

Just passing through, saw the Unilocal reviews and decided to try it out. Man, am I glad we did! Everything was delicious! Got the Vegas Steak Sandwich. The Goulash Fries(in the appetizer section) only cost $ 2 more to upgrade to a side. Worth it! The rest of the menu looked delicious too, so I would definitely stop in again while driving through!

Do not let the name fool you! This is a fine dining establishment, the owner was super personable and served me and filled my cup to my hearts content along the way making some great conversation! The atmosphere is quaint and the people were kind! I had the elk burger on special and a side of fries which can all be seen in the photos. They have two sauces that you can buy and take home 1. Eagle sauce and 2. Garlic aioli both of these sauces are incredible and it’s worth taking a jar home hands down. That’s actually how I discovered this place. A friend had my try some eagle sauce at his house and I knew I had to get my hands on more! Great experience over all!

Never saw this coming! Absolutely amazing. Tiny little place with an edgy feel. Specials today were a falafel veggie burger or a Octoberfest burger blended beef and sauerkraut on a pretzel roll. Don’t miss the fries. Better yet, get the goulash fries. Looked amazing.

Stumbled hungrily into Joplin, MO on a long hike from California, and choose the Eagle over another highly rated restaurant in the area. I loved the place upon sight– a simple front with a filled parking lot is always a good sign. Restaurant was almost at capacity, we filled one of the few tables left and began perusing the menu. We ordered Bone Marrow and Goulash Fries to share. Both were excellent, bone marrow cooked perfectly and the fries were out of this world. The portion size was appropriate for the marrow, the fries came in huge supply. I can’t remember if we made it through them. Bo Peep burger was amazing, all produce fresh and lamb clearly of decent quality. My Dad’s burger featured a quail egg, and his first experience with one at that. Everything looked great, and he’ll be having a quail egg again. So I think that’s a win there also. At this point we’re struggling to finish our burgers. Beers on tap were helping it all wash down. If I remember correctly, they rotate with some local & seasonal beers. Our server was attentive even through the busy times. It never felt loud or claustrophobic inside either. We left stuffed and satisfied! If you wind up in Joplin, eat at the Eagle and get gas at the insanely huge truck stop. It’s worth it!

This restaurant is a little jewel! I had the Black & Blue Steak with the Goulash Fries. It was fantastic! Portions are pretty big, so make sure to come with an appetite. The steak was blackened in some spices, and topped off with blue cheese, hence the name. NOTE: If you’re looking for a classic ribeye taste, do not order this, because this is not it. This is different. And it was great! Additionally the service was great! Very welcoming place and people. I’d definitely come back.

Got lucky finding this place on the way through town! I had Joplin’s Spiciest burger. It was fantastic! My wife said the black bean burger was the best she’s EVER had… and the kids devoured the Goulash Fries super fast! Our server was courteous and quick. She even brought our dog a water bowl :) We will definitely be back!

Very friendly staff. The jalapeño margaritas are tasty and the menu although small is diverse. Overall, I will visit again when I am craving a buffalo birger. Yum

This is a WEAK3 I had high hopes for this place, but they fell short on a number of reasons. Some of it has to do with my personal expectations, but others were simply unacceptable. This place is tiny, and it already had all the tables filled(they didnt have that many). We sat at the bar, and I ordered an eagle Burger with goulash fries as my side. I also ordered a jalapeño infused margarita, since it sounded cool. The margarita tasted like an alcoholic gatorade, with no real jalapeño flavoring. And then I waited. And waited. And waited until I received my meal 70 minutes later. I dont expect fast food speeds, but c’mon! The burger and fries came out, and I was a bit dissapointed. The burger tasted just like a homemade burger I would have at a cookout. this is not necessarily a bad thing, but the non grilled bun, cold vegetables, and not piping hot meat was not what I expected. The goulash fries were basically chili mac and garlic sauce drizzles on top of fries. They were good, but also not what I expected texture wise. I was expecting more a cheese fries texture. I wanted this place to be awesome, but it wasnt. If I was back in Joplin, I probably would not eat here. I almost gave this place 2 stars, but the food was still decent.

Recommended by family so we made a stop while travelling through Joplin. From the looks of the exterior, I thought we were in for an old fashioned burger shop, but when you open the door, the place is a hipster, trendy eating place with an interesting selection of foods. We had the Eagle burger and a chicken sandwich. Both were well prepared and delicious. Their fries and salads were excellent. We were driving so we didn’t have any of their craft beers, but they had an excellent choice. The service was excellent, it was clean, and the owner was very interested to know about our experience. This was a highlight meal on our long weekend trip. I will stop again.

Worth a drive and a wait! Excellent! Donut burger, blue cheese bacon burger, fries, Eagle burger, mac and cheese, grilled cheese and candy bar pie. Dipping sauce perfection. Just go! Not fast but it takes time for good food. Go, have a drink and get ready for burger heaven.

I am glad to find this jewel of a local restaurant before Food Network! I loved the Vegas steak sandwich– best I’ve had in recent memory. I’d definitely get it again. The Goulash Fries were very good and HUGE — we couldn’t eat two entrees and sides after that big appetizer! Very small dining room but we arrived at a slow time. Meals are cooked to order so this is NOT fast food or like anything else on the highway! Wish we had something like this at home!

You will not be disappointed. Food is eclectic and delicious. Easy on and off from I-44 and worth the trip from Grand Lake if you need a break from water skiing/fishing. Chipotle Hummus was a great start — smoky and spiced just right. Italian Burger with pesto aioli received a definite thumbs up from the better half. Jo Mo Po Bo with calamari was incredible. Four dipping sauces for the frys! The Blueberry BBQ was incredible. Oh yeah, Jalapeño Margarita rocks! Craft beer selection is not extensive but very good.
