What a great day in the countryside, and a unique experience for the kids and family. We coordinated our visit with a trip up from Florida and they were so accommodating; promised to take us even if they didn’t meet the minimum number of participants. Very fun, wholesome outdoorsy, and educational for the kids. They got to milk a «virtual» cow and we all had a hayride through the countryside. A wonderful and friendly family dairy farm, plus free samples of their yummy high-cream content ice cream! My parents, who live in NC, now go out of their way to buy their ice cream. Great day-trip experience for just a little $$$.

I love it when ever I have a chance to go I take it because mainly we are friends with the owner and everyone is usually nice to everyone but to those who have experienced the rude employee I have as well

Just bought their vanilla ice cream at LL Urban Farm. Flavor wise it’s very good. The reason they only get 2 stars is because they add carrageenan to their ice cream, which is a highly processed ingredient. I’m very good about reading the label and the ingredient list but I was so excited of finding a local ice cream that I did not bother to look. Had I read the ingredient list I would not have bought it. Another reason they only get 2 stars is that the ice cream was full of water crystals, a sure sign that it had melted after being frozen and then frozen again. Instead of being creamy and smooth, it was grainy.

Sure, you can buy Homeland Creamery’s awesome products at different outlets all around the area, but it’s more fun to just take a ride out in the country and go right to the source… the Creamery Store, which is located right on the dairy farm. Their ice cream is some of the best ever, so smooth & creamy it’s just a fantastic product. Numerous flavors available daily to enjoy by cone, cup or shake. The Apple Pie & Cupcake flavors are really good, but there are many more I so «need» to try. They also have about a dozen picnic tables under the huge shade trees right beside the store for you to sit at & enjoy your cone. At the store you can also get their other products like milk, chocolate milk, buttermilk & butter. The cool thing is that they do not use any growth hormones or hormones to increase milk production on their moo cows. They also carry products from other local farmers & businesses like jams, jellies, free range eggs & a few sauces. Farm tours are available by reservation & they also host birthday parties for the kiddos. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the neighborhood.

Sadly I had to give homeland creamery 2⁄5 stars because we experienced a rude employee. Yvonne does not need to be dealing with customers. The products are good, but I don’t want to go back to a place with rude employees.

The ice cream here is simply fabulous. The serving size is generous. Haven’t tried the milk yet, it’s a bit pricey but expected.

Whether you’re looking to pick up fresh milk or splurge on made-from-scratch ice cream, this place is the real deal. I enjoyed the best cherry vanilla I’ve ever tasted, and my mom says she can’t recall a better butter pecan. Simple and delicious, will definitely return.

When I was visiting my son in North Carolina last week to meet my first granddaughter he took me to this Creamery. I agree with his review it is the best ice cream I think I have ever had. If I lived here I would go by very often. It is out in the country but if you are in the area go by, you will be glad you did. Would I go back? Yes every time I go to visit I will go.

Best chocolate milk EVER! It’s so thick it’s like drinking a melted milkshake! Their ice cream is awesome too! I love going out to the dairy with my daughter and getting ice cream and seeing the farm animals!

Unfortunately, the star rating is capped at 3 stars due to the ice cream at the Julian plant. Granted they have a lot of good flavors but more than half of them contain«corn syrup». Unacceptable because they should use real sugar. The flavors i did try that didn’t have Corn Syrup were pretty good and would come back if i am ever driving on NC62. At select grocery stores(Lowes Foods), they do have tasty milk and the price is comparable to what you would expect buying a gallon or pint of milk from the big boys. That helped to keep it’s star rating above water.
