The artisan movement in San Diego creates a great atmosphere for small craft bakeries, breweries, and coffee roasters. The creative process that is taking place at Julian CiderWorks is fantastic. Julian has been known for Apples and has an amazing climate for growing apples. Especially for cider. What is phenomenal is that the partners at the CiderWorks are planning to brew the«best» cider. But, everyone’s palate is different and so the«best» cider is according to your opinion. Julian CiderWorks is the perfect place for you to visit because they are juicing apples grown in Julian and then they produce ciders that have an incredible flavor, but each variety is unique. So the best way is to settle in and go for a round of tasters. The ciders are all on tap and you can explore the flavors of each individual variety. The craftsmanship is truly exposed by the way that they paired each apple variety with the complimentary ingredients to accentuate the true flavors of the apples. This is artisan brewing at its finest. The staff was very helpful in describing the various apples and explaining the process from tree to cider. It’s fascinating to hear about how they are replanting orchards and exploring the different apple varieties to make the cider. If you are at all into home brewing and fermenting, the discussion will be richly rewarding. If you are anywhere around Julian — make the drive out of town and pay Julian CiderWorks a visit. You are supporting a local business that is investing in an entire orchard revitalization. I think it’s great that they will stimulate, rejuvenate, and breathe new life into the Julian apple industry.

10 out of 10! My girlfriend and I decided to head to Julian for some delicious pie as a sort of, spur of the moment date. After the pie, we were talking about how apples make AWESOME pies, and wondered. What is better, if anything, than pie, with apples. BOOZE! We hopped on Unilocal and found Julian Ciderworks. A bit hard to find, and be prepared, it’s location can be off putting(but keep going! You’ll get there and it’s worth it!). It’s located at the end of a ranch, and the ranch is located at the end of a desolate road. Once we arrived we were greeted by Brian. We had two flights of their ciders and were amazed one after another.(Get the Three Presidents!) It’s a new place, so don’t expect the hustle and bustle of a trendy Bruery(pun intended, google Bruery if you dont get it) but it’s a romantic experience and the place is run by great people. Good folks, awesome and strong Cider in the Getaway haven of Julian. It’s awesome. The place has tons of potential, and we’re excited for them and can’t wait to come back!

We had an excellent experience at this little hidden jewel. There is a huge variety of some of the best cider I have ever tasted and the owner is happy to share the history and process of the local fruits and cider making. The atmosphere is welcoming and casual. You are made to feel at home as you sit an enjoy the flavors and conversation. If you think you are entering a private home then you have found the right place. Just go to the barn past the horses and be prepared to try a flight.

We visited Julian Ciderworks during a day trip to Julian in an effort to find some delicious hard cider. Cideworks did NOT disappoint. You follow a narrow winding country rode to what looks like 3 large red barns. The owners were incredibly knowledgable about apples and the cider-making process and graciously took the time to tell us all about the different varietals of apples. The tasting room is a small, cozy spot that feels comfortable and inviting. Ciderworks’ ciders are SO tasty, crisp and fresh. Many of their ciders are made with apples that are picked right their on their farm and the rest are locally sourced from nearby orchards. Some are tart and sour and others are sweet — they have a cider for every preference. We tasted all 12 options and loved them all but particularly enjoyed the mulled cider and the pear ciders. There was also a pumpkin spice cider that was so delicious. Will bring my friends and family back to this family-run, top notch tasting room!

Great Atmosphere and Great Cider. The owners are very knowledgeable about all their products and really inviting. This place is off the beaten path, but that makes it an even better experience with the barn setting. I got a growler of their Cizer for my friend who is Gluten free and only drinks Cider, and he said it was the best Cider he has ever had. Would totally recommend going here for a more one-on-one experience, great setting and delicious drinks!

Fantastic place for getting locally made hard cider. Extremely friendly staff and amazing hard cider. I learned from the staff that all of the apples used are locally grown right here in Julian. I enjoyed a flight and finally settled on one that I liked and got a 12oz of my favorite. It’s located on the same property as a horse riding ranch and that formula makes for an amazing day trip!
