First off, waited 15 minutes as servers walked passed us not making eye contact before even being aknowledged. We had a 7pm reservation, we’re there around 6:35. I admit we were early, but as other people come in and get seated first come first served as we wait until 7:20 to be seated, it kinda sets a bad tone for the evening. I ordered the chicken Alfredo, and he ordered the baby back ribs. Food came out in 15 minutes, not bad. My Alfredo sauce was the consistency of water, and I’ve made rice-a-roni better than their rice pilaf. No soup or salad options with the dinners that were $ 20 and $ 30. I was expecting a great meal(especially for the price). The only reason I ate was because I was starving from waiting so long! This place is terrible! We will never come here again.

The orange chicken is the best I have ever had!!! The plain hamburger was delicious, fresh and juicy. It’s a great place to eat. Nice garden ambiance.

Nice elegant restaurant in the heart of Julian, across from Mom’s pie. The restaurant looks like a vintage old house with a beautiful touch. You can either sit inside or outside, but where ever you sit is a nice atmosphere. The staff at this restaurant are nice and make you feel very comfortable. There is a lot to choose from on the menu we ate the New York stake and it was very delicious. If you are visiting Julian and are looking for a quiet cozy place to eat with your family this is the place to go.

Okay so, this place was not the greatest, but not the worst. If you are in town on a busy weekend, you’ll be lucky to get a spot anywhere that serves food. This was the only one WITHOUT a wait when I came a few weeks ago with my friend. We sat outside because we had a dog, and they turned on the heaters which was nice! Now, they are very uncoordinated, hate to say it. We had two servers come take our order, and both of them came out with tea the same time. I don’t think they knew they were both assigned to our table, kinda funny. Didn’t ruin the experience because our food was pretty good, it just took a while to get our bill and try to communicate with one of our servers. Prices are fair, décor isn’t much outside(patio tables), and SORRYGUYS but wash your stuff a LITTLE better. My tea mug was dirty ew :( If you are starving and every place is busy, stop on in. The food was the highlight of this place, just don’t expect The Ritz!

What a disappointment! Figured I would try a few burgers for me and my girl since I have heard good things. Guess what we got? two tasteless burgers that must be pre-made frozen patties! They didn’t even come with pickles!!! At least figure out how to use some seasoning to spice things up a bit.

Cute little cottage with great food. I had the cheeseburger which was great and the potato salad which was tasty. My family members had the Rueben which looked great and the indicated was good. A couple people got the meatball sub which was good but lacking in sauce(which we requested more and they readily obliged us). Service was good, the ladies working were helpful and attentive. They were very accommodating to our dogs.

Ok. So I’m not going to write too much about this place because it was not the best. The food was about as good as frozen dinners(some frozen dinners are better), the service was friendly but pretty slow, and it was waaaay overpriced for the quality. Overall: I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. There are some good restaurants in Julian and nearby, no need to try this place.

This home turned restaurant has a romantic, quiet atmosphere. Cozy and warmly decorated for fall made for a great first impression on our dinner date. Our table was by the open windows, which made for a chilly dining experience, but the staff soon closed the windows when they realized their guests were cold. I had the lemon chicken and my boyfriend enjoyed the filet. Both dishes were good — not amazing, but still enjoyable.

In response to the review that says…“it’s a house”. Yes, it is. A charming, intimate atmosphere inside. Outside, twinkling lights in the trees, a gentle breeze and a cozy fire pit. What’s not to like? Food portions are smaller than other restaurants In town… but this is fine dining, not a diner. If you want an enormous plate of food… go to Claim Jumper. I had the Jerusalem chicken. It was tender, moist and the Bernaise was subtle and savory. My husband had the Georgia peach chicken. Delicious. Service was perfect. We will be back.

So many reviews… so many odd comments.hmmm. Did these folks really EAT here? First let me say that JULIAN is in itself somewhat an enigma… with a very interesting history. The merchants obviously are highly motivated to do a great job. We took a drive with four close friends who have made the trip more often than we have, and after consulting Unilocal, we were glad to tag along! After browsing the shops on Main Street, it was time for lunch. A very elegantly dressed lady escorted us to a table on the patio and after just a few minutes a waiter came by to take our orders. We enjoyed the Brie Appetizer(very generous), the Bleu Cheese Burger with Fries(especially good fries, and lean thick beef burger, open face Ruben(huge), Club Sandwich(also HUGE!)…nice wine selection. Our service was good and our little«extras» were attended to(tartar sauce for fries… NO salt). Of all the choices in town, THIS turned out to be A-1…probably FIVE stars for the area! THANKYOU!

Side salad just ok. Not even Italian dressing not a choice or even balsimic. Rolls over microwaved. Veggies on side over large peppers with zucchini all barely cooked. Julian apple burger was interesting & large. Garlic mashed potatoes best part of meal because chicken turnover very dry and too much bread. Service okay. Table next to us wanted to buy a whole pie and eat a few slices of it there(they even ordered a meal) and we’re told they could buy the whole pie but would have to pay for additional slices to eat it there. Asked for mgr. And they said no too. That’s so dumb.

In our family, it is EXTRAORDINARILY rare when all five plates are cleaned to the crumb. And that happened here. My brother is absolutely psychotic about prime rib so naturally he had that. Gone. I had the Brie plate. AMAZING. The food is exceptional. TOTALLY worth the prices.

Very, very, very little potions for the money you spend at this place. My $ 9.95 spinach salad had no more than 12 spinach leafs with 2 small slices of red onion, really? We were still hungry after leaving this place — we’ll never eat here again… We found other places to eat in Julian that are way more reasonable price-wise, portion-wise and taste-wise. Soups and Such down the street is awesome, so is the Italian diner by the Bird Watcher… but we’ll never eat at Julian Grille unless they start giving folks their moneys worth…

We love sitting outside and usually stop in for a quick lunch. Feeling a bit chilled we tried the clam chowder and the tomato soup. Both were good and we also enjoyed the chicken salad. Our service was great from our seating to the cute waiter Scotty with the infectious smile etched into his face. Haven’t been here for dinner yet but everyone claims it’s the steaks you come here for. We’ll have to try next time. For lunch they are okay, not bad, but more of a traditional stop for us.

I was a bit disappointed by their berry apple pie a la mode(which, to clarify, means with vanilla ice cream. Can we all just indicate these things in English so certain people don’t look stupid when asking? kthx). The berry to apple ratio was not to my liking, because I had assumed it would be more of an apple pie with few berries. Actually, it was the opposite. Since I ordered first, my friends were able to sample my pie and be sure of what they did NOT want to order. Good for them, sad for me. The ambiance of Julian Grille is… a house. I think the owners actually bought a home and converted it into a restaurant. The wooden floors make for a creaky walk to the restroom, and the décor is what one would see in a typical American home(dimly lit lamps, old hardcover books, white lace doilies, etc.). Personally, it is not what I would prefer for a home or a restaurant for that matter. However, some of my friends are in love with that kind of vibe and décor. I just have issues with places where I have to pull out my phone for a bright light source just to read the menu. If you get to Julian before 4PM, which apparently is when 99% of their stores close, opt to go to Mom’s Pie House just down and across the street. Their pies are more fresh and apple-y, and was actually on the Food Channel. Just my two cents.

Came to Julian for our anniversary getaway, decided to come here for lunch, cute place, nice patio, menu looks good until we got our food! Cream of mushroom soup was good and the french fries, I ordered a tuna melt and it was soggy but when my husband ordered the Salmon plate and they brought it over he was like wheres the rest! It was the size of a strip of bacon! Not sure why I can’t post pic with my review but I will post with the pictures. Best part is our waitress says, All of our portions are smaller because of the minimum wage hike. ooops uh oh! I don’t think you are suppose to tell your customers that! So, can’t say we would come back! She tried coming back to say she will give us 10% off but I think we would have rather had the other half of the Salmon./Users/illina/Pictures
