This shop has SOMANY cool things I wanted to blow all my money on. They don’t allow pictures in the store which is a total bum but understandable because they really do have some prized ideas that they most likely want to keep. However the overall attitude I received from the girl working was… odd. Seeing all the signs everywhere about NOPICTURES and feeling like the clerk was watching me like a thief didn’t make me the most comfortable. I didn’t buy anything because I felt like i was being hurried or monitored. But if Im ever in Julian again I’ll probably walk back in. Oh but if you want a masquerade mask, get one here.

Went in here to look around and my wife saw a little key necklace she really liked. We asked for assistance and Deb was more than helpful. We were treated nicely and the prices are great for a resort town. My wife was very happy and we recommend a stop on in if you are in the area.

I’d like to preface this review by saying that I understand that everyone is entitled to having a bad day. That said, the customer service — rather, lack thereof — that I and my family received from this establishment left a more than sour taste in our mouths. Over the Christmas holiday, my family and I went up to Julian to enjoy some small town hospitality; however, Pistols and Petticoats did not deliver. While waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant, my boyfriend and I wandered in to Pistols and Petticoats where I happened upon a bracelet that caught my eye. I picked it up to inspect it and give it a try on my wrist. Noticing that there was a wooden clothespin attached to said bracelet(and no obvious signage indicating why), I began to remove the clothespin in order to properly try on the jewelry. This was met with a harsh, «PLEASEDON’T REMOVETHAT!» from the girl at the register. Fair enough. I certainly had no intention of doing anything unsavory. I simply wanted to try the bracelet on and planned to replace the clothespin once finished. Had I realized that this was prohibited, I certainly would not have done so. The clerk at the register did not stop there, however. As I began to replace the clothespin, feeling rather embarrassed after having been shouted at as if I were a small child, she sharply noted that, «There’s a reason why it’s there». My boyfriend and I were in utter disbelief at her poor attitude. We proceeded to walk away from the display and only then did she ask us if there was anything she could help us find. Not anymore, thank you very much. Chalking up the lapse in customer service to an isolated incident, my boyfriend and I decided to try our luck later in the day after our lunch and returned to the store with his sister and nephew in tow. As his sister went to take a picture of an item that had caught her eye(again, there was no visible signage to indicate that this was prohibited), she too was yelled at by a store employee. The rude employee demanded that she not take a picture, citing that they did not want«to get sued again». By whom? I’m not sure. In any case, there is a right way and a wrong way to handle customers in a store. Better signage to indicate what is and is not allowed in the establishment would help a great deal. It is leaps and bounds better than resorting to publicly shaming potential customers out loud in front of the rest of the store. Needless to say, my shopping experience was sullied and I left Julian wondering where the sense of small town hospitality has gone. As a side note, I found the same bracelet on and will be ordering it for myself — hassle free — and at a cheaper price.

Walked into this cool little store last time I was in julian. One of the coolest ones there in my opinion. The gals are one of the friendliest. Its almost strange as if they were just looking to help us out. They over heard our conversation and started talking to us giving us info. They were just nice to talk to. They do get extremely crowded so dont be a hog and block off the narrow pathways in the store. They sell the coolest little trinkets and some really awesome shirts. The old pistols they sell are pretty cool too. I would definitely come by time after time.

They have some cool stuff in this shop. Greta place to pick up a souvenir or gift for someone from Julian. I liked the t-shirts and the clothing items.

I am updating my review after all the hassle I have gone through to get the purse fixed that this store refused to replace. After the Manager or owner refunded me $ 10 for a $ 50 purse, and told me to go to Micheals and fix it myself, I actually went to Micheals to see what I could do. I’m a fairly crafty person when it comes down to it so I thought I might be abIe to fix it. Unable to find the correct Gems, I contacted the manufacturer of the purse and asked for them to exchange it. They said that every store has a return policy and that I would need to contact the store I purchased it from. I explained what happened when I tried to exchange it, and she was nice enough to send me the gems to fix it myself. Once I recieved the gems I tried to attach them. Unfortunately, you need to open up the lining of the purse to get to where they are attached… I took the purse to an alterations place and had them attempt to open it up and attach them. Come to find out you need a special punch tool to attach the gems onto the purse. So now, after all this… it is still not fixed. The fact that they would expect a customer to go through what I did to fix a purse they should have just exchanged is ridiculous. As cute as their stuff is, I would not return and purchase anything from them.

This place is great! I got my western purses there for a great price! The only thing is I’m not from around here so I can’t order online because they don’t have a website. Bummer. Really could enhance their business!

Cheap, cheap, cheap! But in that good way :) Nicest owners ever and fabulous selections of western wear, jewelry, hats, boots, etc. A small store with a large offering. A definite must-stop-shop if you’re in Julian

I visited Pistols and Petticoats for the first time today and… I absolutely loved it. I am a total cowgirl — so this store is my dream come true! Tons of cute purses, unique jewelry, clothing, and of course really pretty lingerie! Reasonable prices… the owner is so cute :) sweet and friendly so I really don’t understand the rudeness comments… went to both of her stores and both ladies were absolutely wonderful! Will be definitely coming back for more cute stuff… the only bad thing — well I guess is not bad, but it’s tiny… the store was crowded today so couldn’t move around freely without bumping into another person, but aside from that great great store!!! If you’re into unique items… this is definitely the store for you!

What a cool place! I mostly went because they had panties, and they were some of the cutest panties I’ve seen in awhile. Lots of other stuff in there as well(purses, jewerly etc.) that you need to take your time to look through. Check this place out!

This store is a cabaret bellydancer’s dream come true. You see, we love our sparkles. Especially Swarovski crystal(aka fake bling) jewelry sparkles. We are magpies, the lot of us. We love our shining hoards. Pistols and Petticoats has a fabulous selection of crystal jewelry, and I was utterly shocked at just how reasonable the prices were. For example, I’ve been lusting after a wide, cuff-style stretchy rhinestone bracelet that I can’t seem to find anywhere for under 40 bucks. This place had one for around 15 or 20. Oh my god. From what I remember, they have a nice selection of beautiful necklaces, earrings, and bracelets for under $ 30 in just about every shade you’d want, from regular clear crystal to screaming-Barbie-pink. Everything else in here is super cute as well. Lots of fancy-schmancy, ruffly panties, trendy but cute clothing, and other cute-ass accessories. Awesome, kitschy, pinup-y chotzkies to be had as well. I love the western-slash-feminine-slash-«I’m a bad ass chica» theme of the store. Even though the gas to get out there probably cancels out any savings I’ll get in buying jewelry here to match my next costume(hence the one missing star), I’m going back anyway. You can always make a day out of it, eat some pie while you’re out there, or what have you. Julian is a beautiful town. I’d live there if it weren’t way the hell out in East Jesus.

I came here after going to the Candy Basket. Right across the way, by the way. This store has a bunch of amazing lovely gadgets and gizmos!!! I felt like Ariel from little mermaid just checking every single little thing out. There is from ladies underwear, to pirate skull necklaces and shiny gun necklaces, and so much more here. the owner is super nice and amazing! I am totally coming back here and buying some stuff. I love it.
