Stopped in for a simple but bbq lunch. The smoked brisket was perfect. The meat was tender and smoked. The different choice of sauces were pretty good. I went with the original sauce. It met my expectation. I highly recommend stopping in. The Mac and cheese side is nothing new but the spices they sprinkle on top made it different with a little BBq sauce. :)

Delicious. Loved everything & the broccoli salad especially! A little pricey, but worth it.

Good BBQ, decent place to have a beer and some ribs. Somewhat let down that there are no wings nor any chicken besides chopped up. As I always say, yet again, I come from the north east where the food is best. Hope this helps! Cheers!

Amazing and surprisingly good BBQ. We just happened to take the exit and thought Kansas BBQ would be worth a try. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender. They have several sauces to suit anyone’s taste including a Texas flavor and a sweeter flavor I preferred. The service was quick, the price was affordable and the portions were just right. The only complaint I had was with the Coleslaw. It had pineapple bits in it. Yuck!

I am from NC and I am a big fan of BBQ. When we first got here we saw this place and figured that we should try it out. I must say that i was slightly disappointed that the meat didn’t seem as flavorful as I would have liked. My family got the platter which came with turkey, brisket, pull pork, turkey and four side items. We got the mac and cheese which was creamy and quite tasty along with the baked beans which seemed to be lacking flavor. I asked my husband why we didn’t get any bread or hush puppies and low and behold the next day we found it under the sides. Oh well wish we knew it was there the night prior. I will just say that the drive thru service was friendly but I wish the food had more seasoning.

DRY and over priced… just not impressive at all… I’m basing this against hundreds of BBQ meals I’ve had in KC, Memphis, and all over Texas… The Brisket is so dry it literally turned to powder in my mouth and needed half a cup of Iced Tea to wash it down. The Pulled Pork was par but nothing impressive — no «smoke» just sauce. The Sausage — again not super impressive. The Ribs had a smoke ring but that’s about all I can say other than they were meaty but over cooked dry. The only impressive part was the Coleslaw had a awesome twist with the pineapple added in, never seen that before but it was the best part of the meal and I’d go back just for the slaw. Oh and EXPENSIVE for a BBQ Joint — that’s a guarantee.

Came in here about a week ago to pick up a big order that I called in and the girl at the register was rude and gave me all the cups to fill up on my own, when I paid an excessive amount for thirteen people. The only one who helped me was a young lady with blue hair, a manager I believe. She helped me fill up all of the drinks and made sure I had everything I needed. They should have people that are actually willing to help like the managers rather than stand there and leave a guest unhappy. I’m only giving this three stars because of the young lady who helped me.

I was not impressed with the food or the restaurant’s atmosphere. I had their signature smoke house sandwich and I have seen salads come with more meat then the sand which I received. Kids had ribs that looked like they were made in a fast food restaurants. Won’t be coming back unless I’m looking for fast food

Two stars because my fries were hot. Otherwise, I was thoroughly disappointed. We were in town to visit my daughter and son-in-law as they welcomed our first grandchild. While the first-time parents got acclimated to the new baby, we decided to go explore and get some food. I have often heard the accolades bestowed upon Kansas City BBQ, and I figured that since we were so close to KC that our tastebuds were about to be dazzled. We both ordered the Smokehouse Philly, and I should have known better. Because whenever restaurants veer off the course of what is traditional for their particular style, things have the potential to get crazy. Today it got crazy. Try to follow me… You see, I married into a Philly family. And after 16 years, I think(no, I know) that anyone who would dare go to the City of Brotherly Love attempting to merge a BBQ sandwich with a Philly Cheesesteak would be run out of town. A cheesesteak and hoagie shop sticks to making cheesesteaks and hoagies. Mexican restaurants make Mexican food. Pizzerias make pizzas. And a BBQ restaurant should stick to making BBQ sandwiches. Stop experimenting, because the Smokehouse Philly was a travesty. This«sandwich» consisted of some very dry, flavorless brisket on what appeared to be a somewhat stale hot dog bun that was opened too wide and therefore had split. It was finished off with this white cheese sauce that seemed horribly out of place and tasted like watered-down queso dip. To say I drenched the meat with BBQ sauce is the understatement of our entire visit. I was left with no choice because the brisket tasted just like I imagined Charlie Chaplin’s shoe did the first time I watched his iconic comedy scene( ). Eventually the bread was too wet to pick up with all the sauce I had poured on it, so I had to choke it back with a fork. I hope this wasn’t a reflection of KCBBQ as a whole. Maybe we should have gone to Memphis.

3.5 stars. I am a self-proclaimed barbecue snob. I have to admit the food here is pretty good! I’ve had the three meat combo plate and I’ve had the chopped pork sandwich. The macaroni and cheese and the beans are also very good. Go get you some!

I think the barbecue from Cox is overrated. I have eaten here a few times and it was nothing special considering the barbecue. We even tired a couple of pounds of Turkey during Thanksgiving and I was really disappointed.

Had bbq pork. one of us had the sandwich. the other had the bbq blue cheese pork salad. Add your own sauces at the table as you wish. This was all cooked perfectly and is the best bbq I have found. Prepared properly– which is rare. Most bbq places fake it and soak it all in cheap sauce. this was smoked for a full day and you can taste it! I wil return. My faith in American bbq restored.

We came here while just passing through to satisfy a BBQ craving… Based on the reviews being sort of scattered, we weren’t sure what to expect! I’m really not sure what the people who gave less than 4-stars could possibly be looking for, as this place met and exceeded our expectations. We ordered the Memphis 3-meats, the Smoke Stack(burnt ends) and a pulled pork sandwich with seasoned fries and mac n cheese. All were amazing! Our car full can’t agree on which between the Memphis 3-meat and Smoke Stack was the winner for the«best». My kids(who aren’t known for finishing what they order) were basically licking BBQ sauces off their plates after finishing their sandwiches. The mac n cheese is amazing! Get it! It’s not dry like some, but really saucy. We tried all the sauces and they were all good! We had three favorites: sweet, Carolina and traditional. Try them all, fun times. The portion sizes were not small, so I don’t know if the people from the previous ratings were fatties or if the restaurant changed the sizes. There was plenty in each serving for us. We did finish all our meat, however we couldn’t eat the buns or finish our sides, because we were full. We had three sandwiches between four people and all left satisfied. Prices seemed average for BBQ to us, maybe even cheap compared to the price we normally pay for comparable BBQ in our hometown(St. Louis). Service was quick and friendly and our server’s recommendations were spot on!

I’ve been here several times and always loved it, but it seems to be going downhill. I ordered a Carolina sandwich today and the pulled pork had lots of burnt ends in it along with dry chunks of meat.

The food, the staff, nothing but good here. I’ve been here several times and each time seems to be better. I look forward to eating at this place when I come into town and will continue to do so. I highly recommend you give this place a try.

Great for the money. Authentic BBQ I had the pull pork and turkey. Great smoky flavor and the meat was cooked perfectly. The different sauces makes it a four star by providing taste for many palates. Recommend stopping by if you are at junction city.

Back again to try the burnt ends brisket and pork sandwich. Meats have lots of smokey flavor but the Carolina sauce is an excellent addition to the sandwich!
