Island Fence

We worked with John in designing a custom made black powder coated arched arbor and arched swinging gate which incorporated an anchor. From the beginning John worked us through the project and connected us to Elias the welder/​TRUE craftsman who asked for our input throughout the project. Even though we wanted it NOW we knew it would take time. Elias and Peter installed the arbor/​gate with meticulous attention to detail. The outcome was OUTSTANDING!!! Wanted to contract a «local» business to put up a fence and roll-​gate recently. Called Corvallis Fence and Island Fence. Corvallis Fence didn’t ever return my call, so we went with Island.
Estimator came out promptly and gave us a quick estimate. Once we decided to pull the trigger, we paid our 50% deposit and they said they’d «get us on the schedule» as soon as they could. Weeks passed. Phone calls and e-​mails took days to get a reply. When we did talk to them, they said that they were busy and that small residential jobs were getting pushed off because of large commercial jobs. After over two weeks of waiting with no idea as to when we might get our fence installed, they called one morning out of the blue and asked if they could send a crew over to install posts.
Install guys were great — I asked the head installer when I should expect a follow-​up crew to hang the fence rails and boards and put up the roll-​gate. He said the following Monday or Tuesday (it was a Friday). Monday came, no word on a follow-​up crew. I contacted Island and they said that they «had to build the gate first», and they didn’t know when they could get that done and send out a follow-​up crew.
I was disappointed — and I let them know it. Not until Friday did they send out a crew to finish the job.
In the end, the fence quality is fine, the laborers they send out to do the work are pleasant and helpful, but the coordination between the «head office» and the customer leave much to be desired — especially if you’re a simple residential customer.

We were surprised when company used staples to attach the slats to the frame of our fence. Did not know you could use staples. We did not even discover this until over a year had passed and I noticed one of the slats was loose. This was not a recent job. Just still disappointed especially when I found my cat trying to pry one of the 6 foot boards away from the fence and succeeding! Will always use nails or screws in future.

I needed a fence put up quickly and Island Fence was able to accommodate. John was able to get me into their schedule without much delay. The result was a well-​built fence, sturdy, great looking fence. They took extra care with one of the gates as it was an extra wide and needed more support. It was a perfect install. They completed the project in the time they quoted me, so now the dogs have their backyards again.

Love this place. Nothing pretty to look at, but the name says it all. From every type shape size color and configuration you can think of, Island Fence is a great place to get all of your decorative to security fencing you can think of.
I have used them now several times, they have been professional, on time and always at a reasonable budget price. I live out in Sweet Home and they even trek all the way out there.
Oh, and if you go into the office, don’t be a big dope like me and look out for the cat inside, very friendly but if your not careful may inadvertantly launch him/​her across the office… ooops!
