I unfortunately must say that recent visits have shown a drop off in the Chinese. The last dish I got was beyond bland. Just no character. Ron, the owner, needs to spice things up. Forget the Chinese. Get the pan fried walleye. It’s great.

On Wednesday, while we were searching for a place to eat dinner, one of my co-workers was so adamant about eating some Chinese food at this place called — the«Blew Inn» in Juneau, WI. I was kinda hesitant about eating Chinese food in Wisconsin, as I’ve eaten at 3 different Chinese restaurants over the years, and each time the food was just terrible. Sure enough, this restaurant did not disappoint, and lived up to it’s billing about terrible Chinese food. About 6 of us made the run to the Blew Inn, and I was told every 1st Wednesday of every month is Chinese food day. It’s quite obvious Chinese food is not their specialty here! Although the sign says it is! This restaurant was another establishment that looked like a house in the boondocks… yes, I was in the sticks! As I walked into the place, we got seated at a long table with other diners that we did not know. They served us 7 different Chinese dishes(see pics)…the only one that I could choke down was the egg roll. The rest of the items, were just plain terrible! It seems most of the items were some kind of stir fry, and I felt like they just cooked it, then poured some kind of sauce on it, so when you ate the meat/vegetables, it was not favorable at all. Another dish that was pretty appalling was the fried rice… man, it you came to Hawaii & ate the fried rice at — Side Street Inn, you would never ever eat the fried rice over here. The high light of my meal was when I got the bill… when it was time to pay for my meal, this place tried to charge me for 3 meals! Come on now… we were on business, and each of us paid for our own meals… if all six of us got a bill for our food, how can I get billed for 3 people? Just plain terrible! My co-workers were saying«WTH» also! I am never coming back here to eat… I won’t even consider eating their American food either.

The only light on a dark stretch of Highway 60. For me, the best reason to drive out this far is for the oysters rockefeller which really are exquisite! The mussels were delicious too swimming in a subtle lemon garlic sauce. Unfortunately, half of the mussel shells were either closed or empty. I could not speculate where the tasty bits had ended up, but I could not find them under my pile of shells. The fish fry was pretty standard Friday night in Wisconsin. Nothing exceptional about the batter. Fries were out of a bag. The bread basket was wanting. The plasticized mounted fish and mounted woodland critters were quaint. Be prepared, the owner keeps court from his bar stool in the corner and may shout to you for feedback on your way out.

A popular country supper club. If you go on the weekend make sure to call for a reservation. The unusual combination of American and Chinese cusine doesn’t seem like a rural bill-of-fare, but people like it. You will see Prime Rib as a specialty along with steaks and other American entrée’s. I happen to like the Pressed Duck on the Chinese portion of the menu. Pretty traditional, nothing fancy, but what you expect and consistent each visit. It’s unusual when ordering Chinese food that you are offered soup or salad, but you are at The Blew Inn. You also receive a roll basket and breadsticks and crackers along with cheddar cheese spread. Always a nice extra. Come as you are; this is in the country. Jeans with suspenders

Five stars for a far above average«Wisconsin supper club.» A fun, friendly place with good food; both Chinese and American. Note: the mapped location(on Hwy 26) on Unilocal is incorrect. The address in the written information(on Hwy 60) is correct.

Very good prime rib and lobster chunks. Worth the price and drive to eat at a fine restaurant.

We stop by here from time to time and have had some very good and hot Chinese food. Really quite good for the area. A bit pricier than most local fare though. Anyway, we were going to stop here again recently and noticed they have a Fitzgerald sign in their front yard. Needless to say we didn’t stop. Thanks for letting us know who owns this place. Our money will go elsewhere from now on.

Can’t decide what kind of food you want? This is your place. Good Chinese food(Mandarin or Szechuan), or great American standards. The prime rib and fried lobster pieces was unbelievably good. The Chinese dishes, eh, hit and miss. Skip the fried rice. Mostly excellent food, out in the middle of nowhere(and worth the drive). Great taxidermist monster fish on the walls.
