This little place caught our eye as we were driving by. Cute atmosphere, very pleasant staff, but the food was awful. My husband had the Long Board Dog. It was swimming in what appeared to be cheap canned chili and processed cheese sauce. He said it was horrible, and didn’t finish it. I tried the Kawabunga Burger. It was edible. The slaw was really runny and didn’t look/taste fresh. It was on the greasy side, and just lacking in quality.

Listen, when it comes to burgers, it’s all about preference. If you’re a BurgerFi kinda person, chances are you are not going to appreciate The Burger Shack. I’ve had burgers from Le Tub, Miami One, and just about every other burger joint(not all, just many), and personally you can keep your BurgerFi &5 Guys grease sponges. This place addressed a deep rooted guilty pleasure long ignored in my gullet, as I haven’t had a FF burger in decades(i.e.-BK, McD’s, Wendy’s etc). It may only be a small step above fast-food, but I’d bet dollars to onion-rings that when Richard and Maurice McDonald open their first burger joint, they likely served burgers similar to the«Cove Burger». They have several different burgers and«build your own» is always an option. Make no mistake, this joint has nothing on Lindburgers(Love LindyB’s), but there is a big difference between a low cost casual sit down, and a 50’s style burger shack. I was super happy with the Gnarly and my wife’s turkey burger was good as well. The fries & rings were crisp and contrary to what others have posted, neither the sides nor the burgers were at all greasy(not doubting, just guessing you came on the one bad day that year or that I came on their one good day… I am hoping the truth lies in the former). There was some confusion when we ordered our daughters hot dog, and mistakenly chicken tenders arrived at the table. No problem, they handled the situation perfectly; they wrapped up the tenders and told us to take them home and quickly made a fresh hot dog appear at the table… well played! As we live 30+ minutes away, we are likely not to be regulars, but seeing as we utilized the attached ice cream parlor & mini-golf, I see us coming back in the cooler fall months for some putt-putt and and afternoon munch.

We are in town visiting and saw the Burger Shack in our travels. We were craving a great burger so decided to check it out. We were very disappointed. The burger was small and really greasy! I got the one with onions, mushrooms and Swiss cheese. The bottom bun was soaked with grease and my husband finished his burger in 2 bites. Quite honestly I thought it was on par with a fast food burger but triple the price. The potato chips were decent. The best part of the really pricey meal.

Meh… just a burger. Absolutely nothing special about it. The burgers are smaller than what a burger from a burger-specific joint should be And its served on Hawaiian rolls, which isn’t exactly my idea of a burger. However, the whole concept of the place is super cute. Kinda like 1950s America: a burger spot, an ice cream shop and mini-golf all in one. The ice cream part was a little lame: theres like 9 flavors to chose from… thats it. However, It was VERY clean, parking was easy, the outdoor seating faces the mini-golfers so you have something to watch while eating. That was pretty much the experience. Its a good place to go if you want cheap food, really quick from a clean place.

The food here is fantastic. The burgers were delicious and we loved the selection and the ability to customize. We had the Kawabunga burger and the Gnarly burger. Both were top notch! The sauces were a nice complement and the fries and onion rings were awesome. The kids loved the hot dogs, chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks. We ate after playing mini golf at Lighthouse Cove which is right next door. Both places were awesome and we’ll be returning soon.
