We had the Shems Gauc burger and the coconut shrimp. Hands down best coconut shrimp I have ever tasted! Sauces are all so delicious. The signature fries were amazing. Kids and adults were very happy to eat here. I wish it weren’t our last day in Hawaii, we will look forward to returning so we can eat here!

The coconut shrimp was good. The burger was fine, it was a lot of bun and not a lot of burger. They used fake cheese on the burgers and fries. But the onions and rice were really good. I would eat here again, but I don’t think I would seek it out. Pro tip– check in and you’ll get a free drink.

A worthy authentic Hawaiian style meal, good to stop off before or after hitting the beach. We chose this over Giovanni’s shrimp truck. It also has a much nice seating area with umbrellas in case the sun is kickin!

They advertised on Entertainment book but wouldn’t honor any buy one get one free. I don’t respect that dishonesty. The counter girl was nice and fish was good, just dissapointed they didn’t honor what I thought I was getting. We went there because of Entertainment ad. We’re out of coconut shrimp, boy did I have a taste for that. Charming place, very beach vibe and food was good. just not fair. I would have gone back for sure if they honored it. Now just maybe.

Great little restaurant ! They have the best coconut crusted Fried shrimp! Nice selection of unique burgers with toppings such as pineapple and more! We went pretty late in the day and they had run out of pineapple which was a disappointment but the taste was awesome nonetheless. You order at the counter and they give you a number for the table, don’t forget the check in for your free soda!

Check in and get a free drink with your order! I had the Shems burger and it was just as amazing as it was messy! Seriously it was messy and delicious. I had to eat it with a fork. My wife got the shrimp and my daughter a rice bowl. The staff was super friendly and the food was great. The tables were a bit sticky and there were flies everywhere.

I have ordered my garlic shrimp for $ 13 ang 2 burgers for $ 9 each, it was ok but i expected too much. The burgers were pretty good but it’s messy to enjoy them. I got an offer of 1 free soda for any seafood purchased. But i didn’t get my soda because I already paid for mine before checking in. I went to the restroom so I can wash my hands to enjoy my garlic shrimp but it was dirty and the sink was draining slowly. Should I recommend? Yes, just enjoy your Oahu’s North Shore road trip.

This place is worth the stop! Get the crazy fries! You’re going to find that you haven’t eaten a good anything around until you’ve eaten here. Our table ordered burgers, shrimp, and fish. Every meal was more than good. Aloha!

This place rocks! It’s all about the coconut shrimp, they’re better than advertised. Get the combo with fish of the day and shrimp, I had it and it was fantastic. Portions are huge, so if you’re not a big eater, consider splitting a plate between various members of your group. The shrimp are cooked perfectly, and the batter isn’t overly heavy or over coated. The grilled fish that accompanies it is flaky and super fresh. Staff is very friendly and are happy to make recommendations if you’re not sure what to eat. One thing to keep in mind, it’s always going to be busy, so expect to wait a little bit for you food. It’s worth the wait though, as they cook everything to order. My advice is to spend the day surfing at Bonzai, then hit Kahuku Grill after to end your slay your hunger.

Wow! Kahuku Grill offers a great menu with huge serving sizes. My mom and I ordered the Fire in Paradise burger, grilled fish plate, AND the coconut macadamia nut shrimp — all of which were amazing. The fish and shrimp each came with rice and a fresh salad. The Fire in Paradise came with fries and included grilled pineapple and jalapenos, for the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. My mom raved about the grilled fish. The coconut macadamia nut shrimp was very filling with a thick coconut topping and went well with the sweet chili sauce. Fortunately, I was able to redeem the Unilocal check in offer for a free soda. Do beware of the stray chickens at the outdoor seating area! A couple stepped away from their table to order some drinks and those chickens went to town on their food! :(

This place is so amazingly good. If you had to choose between a North Shore shrimp truck or Kahuku Grill, choose here. The digs are casual and it’s all outdoor seating, but there are restrooms and umbrellas. We ate outside when it was pouring out and managed to not get completely soaked, so that was good. The service was really friendly. While the food did take a bit to come out, you should arrive with patience and understanding that everything is being made fresh to order. I got the coconut macadamia nut shrimp, which was delicious. For $ 13, you get a very generous portion with perfectly cooked rice and a nice side salad that’s good enough to be its’ own meal. I also added avocado for a buck. My mom got the seafood combo, with shrimp and the grilled fish. The grilled basa fish filet was HUGE.(Basa fish is a mild white fish that’s similar to catfish and has a very mellow flavor). They also happily let my dad swap his rice & salad for french fries. He’s the worlds most picky eater. Their fresh, hand-cut fries are to die for. Salty little potato nuggets of heaven, and paired with a yummy aioli. Their burgers looked awesome, too. Next time!

We ordered the combo with grilled fish and coconut shrimp with a side of crazy fries. The combo was great and large enough to share for two. The fish was perfectly grilled and juicy. The shrimp were nice and crunchy. The salad was fresh. We were bummed that the shrimp wasn’t deveined, which is a bit unappetizing when you’re trying to work around the vein and enjoy your dinner so there was some shrimp that was left uneaten. Despite the shrimp, I would still say that this is a solid place to grab a quality meal at fairly reasonable prices. We plan on going back and trying the burgers, which is what they are known for. 2÷21÷16 I came across the receipt that was emailed and noticed I was overcharged for the combo. The menu board indicated $ 16, but we were charged $ 17.50. Be sure to check your receipts!
