They made our trip to the ER a good experience. Who does that? The admitting staff, the nurse and Dr. Forney were all such a pleasure. No one wants to wind up in the ER when they’re on vacation but we walked away with more great things to tell after our experience at Kahuku Medical Center. Thanks again, guys!

These guys were super. I sprained my ankle a week ago hiking down Diamond Head, and then re-sprained it again 5 days later. Fearing that it might be broken, and that I might not be able to do my scuba certification class this weekend, I decided to head into the ER at Kahuku. The receptionist, Salomon the nurse, Karl the radiology tech, and Dr. Lee, the physician were all helpful, friendly, efficient. While it was midnight on a weekday, there was no wait(no other patients, in fact), and I was in and out with x-rays, radiology, chat with Dr. Lee and discharge, in under an hour. A+++ would injure again. ;-)

VERYBAD accounting /business office procedures. I received two Kahuku Medical Center bills 9 months after my visit, both several days apart. The first bill was correct, listing the procedures performed, my HMAA insurance payment portion and my patient portion. I promptly paid my patient portion(less than $ 100). HMAA(my medical insurance) paid-out their portion 6 months earlier. Several days later, the second Kahuku Medical Center«consolidated statement bill» arrives(for the same visit) but the bill does NOT list the medical procedures or the already-paid HMAA insurance portion. It just states a whopping $ 2000+ bill that I owe. Over the phone, the business woman reiterates that I owe $ 2000+ and she has NORECORD of HMAA’s insurance payment nor a record of my patient portion that I had just paid several days earlier«on her computer screen!» In fact, she told me to fax over my HMAA Explanation of Benefits claim. HORRORS! I wanted to scream! Kahuku Medical Center’s business and accounting department continues to operate in the Stone Age era.

We are on our 10 days holiday and unfortunately, our 4 year old Kid got a really bad ear infection. Everyone at the ER was very friendly and we didn’t have to wait long til a doctor came to see her. I don’t think I’ve ever been to an ER where people have been more friendly and capable. Also, all that insurancy-stuff was really uncomplicated and didn’t take a lot of time, although we’re not from the States. Thank you very much! Of course we hope to not come back too soon, but IF, we know, we’re in good hands!:)

Had a surfing accident on the north shore huge laceration and very painful. Great staff– RN Daniel and Dr Archbold took EXCELLENT care of my injury. Very knowledgeable and quick. Thankfully there was a hospital nearby– Kahuku medical center. Otherwise I would have to drive like an hour to the next ER. Mahalo, James

My elderly father has been experiencing a host of medical problems and has been in and out of hospitals for several weeks now. His problems were compounded by a bad fall, after which he had to be hospitalized yet again and lost both the ability to walk on his own and control over his bladder. My family and I were struggling to meet his needs, but a short time ago, his primary physician recommended rehabilitation at Kahuku Medical Center. It’s made all the difference in our lives, and more importantly, in his. I can’t say enough about KMC. When he arrived, he was in a great deal of pain and could barely move on his own. He certainly couldn’t walk or care for himself. The staff at KMC couldn’t have been more helpful or understanding of his needs, and they went out of their way to work with him and help him. In the time since he’s been in the facility, physical therapy has helped my father regain more of his movement and some of his control over his bladder. He’s put on some much-needed weight and can move almost freely. He’s now taking short walks, is able to sit up on his own, and is infinitely happier. The facility itself is lovely. It’s always clean. Staff members are always nearby to offer help when needed. The staff members themselves are incredibly friendly and helpful, and every time anyone passes his room, they stop and say hello. Everyone is very kind, especially David Hamlin, Director of Nursing. He always has been such a help. It is such a relief to have my father in this center. His health has improved greatly.
