One of the best korean barbeque I have EVER tasted in my life! Yes, just as the other reviews state, the owners are quite generous with the portions and the side dishes are extremely tasty! Besides the delicious food, I love how kind and friendly the owners are. It must be hot while working, but they are always smiling and welcoming!!! If you’re ever in Kahuku, definitely check this place out – it’s worth it!!!(: !!! ! ~!~

You might not expect much when you see a food bus… not food truck but I highly recommend Kalbi on Fire if you’re looking for Korean food. There was a small food truck/bus park where the famous Giovanni’s is located and I didn’t happen to be in the mood for shrimp which is what Gios serves. I opted for Kalbi and was surprised with how good the food was! I ordered the Kalbi/Galbi and my mom had the BBQ chicken. Both were served with a side of rice and mac salad which was delicious! The kalbi was tender, sweet and well flavored, I would say it was as good as Korean food back home in Chicago. I didn’t try any of my mom’s chicken but she had no complaints so that can only mean it met her standards. Stop on by and grab some good Korean out in Hawaii!

Bookmarked this place as one of have to eat spots during our vacation and Unilocal does not lie. I ordered the Kalbi and was surprised at how much I got for the amount I paid for. It was amazing. I let my boyfriend try some, but refused to share afterwards. Lol. Definitely must try

Portions are Ridiculous here! You can literally feed a family of three with one plate! I love the simple selection as it gives it focus to make the food exceptional. The meat was tender and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. This is a must to accompany the several food truck options on the North Shore. Be prepared to share!

Had already had Giovanni’s before, so I opted to try this place instead. Was so bomb! Mouth watered just smelling the lady cook it as we waited by the side of the truck. Beef is boneless short rib, with a sauce that goes well with the rice. The korean noodles were good, but a bit on the oily side, and I was not overly fond of the amount of sauce on the mac salad, but that could be due to me being full already from the beef and rice. On top of the good food, I enjoyed the setting. They have tables like cafeteria style and you just pick a seat. I appreciated that they have a tent set up to eat under — it rained on the day we went there. Also, I love how they have random roosters wandering around, but they are not aggressive at all and don’t beg for food like pigeons do. It totally added to the island feel. If you love k-bbq, you should check this place out if you are closer to the N. Shore end of Kamehameha Hwy.

Good stuff. Plates come with two scoops of rice, one of macaroni salad and a small bit of a Korean noodle side. I tried the Kalbi beef and BBQ chicken. Both were very good. The chicken was skinless, boneless thighs with the perfect amount of char and the Kalbi was sweet and savory. The mac salad was a bit thin and too sweet for my mainland tastes but was good. The noodles had a lot of sesame oil which I liked but my wifey didn’t care for.

Chicks under the truck Flames dancing across the beef Kalbi is on fire. Kalbi on Fire is not kidding! The kalbi really was on fire. The beef was extremely tender and juicy but too hot for my taste. Rice mellowed it out. :-) Portion size was good. The noodles were also good at mellowing out the kalbi. Was relaxing sitting in the shady spot to the side of the truck. Watching the baby chickens eating my rice reminded me of my mom. She would make sure I ate before she did just like this hen. My mom told me of her days back in China. In the days of her youth she lived in a small village and fed the family chickens with rice like I was doing now. As the last of the rice was eaten the chickens disappeared back beneath the food truck. All things come to an end.

Super A+ This place has ultra tasty food(everything on the menu is delicious, though it isn’t the largest selection) and the service is very friendly and fast. Price is the most competitive for the amount of food(and also the quality) within the area. Absolutely no qualms

Giovanni’s line was ridiculously long so we decided to give it a try here. Plus we are korean so we decided to order some galbi. It was good, nothing too spectacular.

Originally spotted this truck cause we were at the ever crowded Giovanni’s shrimp and some members of our party didn’t want shrimp so we wandered over here. The lady and the guy running the truck recommended some dishes and we got them not expecting much but it was delicious!!! And I’m from Los Angeles so I’ve had a lot of korean bbq so I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and taste of the meat. We returned here twice more during our trip and tried all the dishes and everything was great. But the short ribs were my favorite, Highly recommended. Although they didn’t have any kimchi all the times we came. The service was good though such pleasant people.

Picked up some Boneless Kalbi Short Ribs, Chicken/Beef Combo, and the dumplings(Mandoo) and brought it back to our hotel room to pig out. The food was awesome. It is only a short 5 – 10 min drive from Turtle Bay where we were staying and better than the food at the resort. I would recommend all 3 dishes. All the food trucks on the area seem to charge around $ 13 for most dishes. But unlike some of the others, this place has generous portions. The dumplings(actually all the dishes) were pretty big. You can ask for Kimchee instead of Mac Salad. And we tried to order extra rice but the nice Korean lady said we won’t need it and she was right. Instead of the 2 tiny scoops of rice like Giovanni’s they give a ton of rice at the bottom of the plate. They are in the little food tuck yard next to Giovanni’s.

Best plate lunch I had on my vacay! Even better than Giovanni’s. I got the short rib plate. SODELICIOUS. came with rice Mac salad and some type of noodle. Try this food truck!!! Right off the highway with other food trucks as well. It’s actually in a bus looking type of truck. Best food I had in Hawaii!

Once again, I’m a happy customer! It was a week of finals and I decided to take some of my friends out to try this place. When we ordered we ordered 2 plates of BBQ chicken. They wanted their own plates but I told them that they give good portions. They trusted me, we were told it would take 7mins,. We got our food and to my friends amazement they were shocked on how much chicken they gave! We couldn’t even finish our entire plates. They are very nice people who always serve with a smile! I definitely recommend this place!

While we were waiting for kalbi on fire to start their grills we got a plate of Giovanni’s shrimp which we thought was good. However, the spicy shrimp from here was the ! We had to get another order even though we were full!!! If you like spicy foods you definitely need to try this place!

Located on the North Shore in the same field as Giovanni’s shrimp truck, Kalbi on Fire isn’s so much a food truck as it is a food bus. They’ve converted a big yellow bus into a spot serving up some of the best BBQ chicken I’ve had. A crispy exterior covered the chicken thighs, sealing in juicy meat full of flavor. The platter came with rice and an above average mac salad.

Forget the hyped up, hour long wait for garlic shrimp at the generic white truck in Kahuku. Had the garlic shrimp and kalbi plates at Kalbi on Fire. Garlic shrimp was much better than Gio’s. Sometimes Gio’s can burn the garlic, not good. Kalbi On Fire’s garlic shrimp was perfect. They use fresh garlic and something almost like a batter. Mixes with the rice… so delicious. The shrimp isn’t swimming in oil and margarine like Gio’s. Like others said, the mac salad here is the best I’ve had at a restaurant. Perfectly creamy, perfectly seasoned. Perfect. The kalbi here is boneless and surprisingly tender. Good sauce and portions are quite large. Comes with a side of kimchi and both plates had a side of japchae(sweet potato noodles, stir fried in sesame oil with various vegetables). I will probably never go to the white van again.
