I appreciate your quick response. I should have been more asserive in that situation. Just to give more context to cost, I’m in the medical sales industry where we are prohibited from spending more than a certain dollar amount; if gratuity approaches 20%, some restaurants are permanently removed from our list, even for medical dinner lectures. Gratuity is part of our cost/person and non-compliance would result in the end of my job and likely my career. For the company policy/industry requirements it’s a very sensitive subject. I was within policy, but it did make me concerned.

Used to regularly order take out $ 40+ orders and liked their Paella until this last time I tried calling in an order and was denied service. First 2 call ins sent to voice mail, fine I understand times get busy. Call #3 is answered where I’m asked to be placed on hold where I sit for a good 7 minutes which is like 7 years in FOH time so I hang up. Over the course of the next 20 mins callback an additional 10x only to hit voicemail all 10 times(I really wanted some Paella) Not cool :(I understand that places can get slammed however it takes less than 30 seconds to take our phone order, less than 20 to input to POS, yes we couldn’t even get to speak to a single person. And all we wanted to do was spend some money at this place. Would have taken a grand total of 50 seconds to bring in $ 40+ tonight and much more in the future but I guess my money is unwelcome at Bistro Cassanova so I’m now giving it to DaKitchen where they always answer their phones. And don’t worry Bistro Cassanova because we won’t ever bother you with these ridiculous phone calls ever again farewell!

In my opinion this is the best food and value on Maui. Great Paella and pasta dishes. The freshest and best tasting salads I’ve had; including the big names and hotels. Chef David is a very talented guy, and has created a varied menu that will please any pallet.

Walked in during happy hour and they turned us away. When we went back to let them know we will wait to see if reservations might be no shows, they made us watch 3 tables sit empty for half an hour with no guarantee we would be seated. Saw some other customers having drinks while waiting for a table so approached the bartender and she told me we need to be seated first and flipped her hair and walked away. Some nice customers let us have a seat at the bar since my girlfriend was 9 months pregnant and then the bartender magically acknowledged our presence ONCE. We asked to close out our tab and we received no bill and no change. Finally got a seat and requested a bread basket with our paid meal that took another half an hour. Needless to say not going back anytime soon unless they can get their act together.

My husband and daughter and son in law went to casanovas last night after seeing a show at the MACC theater. We made reservations and arrived on time. We were seated shortly after arrival. Once seated we waited and waited for a waiter. Finally someone came. We decided to put in our complete order since things were moving so slow. Calamari came and it was cold. Ordered margaritas and got a mojito instead sent it back and waiting forever for my drink. Kept asking what the problem was and they said they only had one bartender The bar was empty. We got there at 6:15 and we still didn’t have my drink or dinner at 7:30!!! We told the manager and we just got up and left. Totally horrible experience. Bad service. Stupid manager. Won’t go back. I say we’ll see this place close soon.

I have been looking for a good Italian Restaurant on Maui, and several people recommended Bistro Casanova. Eating at this restaurant was extremely disappointing! The only reason I’m giving this restaurant 2 stars is because the salads were at least average. The bread was stale, the service was marginal and the Veal Scaloppini was the worst I have ever had!!! It was under cooked, tough, and had no flavor. If I was the Owner I would either find a different Chef or General Manager, because based on my experience, I can’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.

My wife and I came for lunch. We had the Kula pork sandwich and a caprese salad. The caprese salad had large slices of mozzarella with ‘sandwich’ sliced tomatoes(I’d like to see thicker sliced tomatoes). The pork sandwich was a little dry but tasty.

I found the service an food wonderful. The Mint ice tea is a must. I ordered a ahi burger on a taro bun. It came with fries and a salad. The ahi was cooked perfectly, seared nice and crispy in the edges. Portions were also a nice size. I would eat here again

Several years ago, this was definitely a go-to place for me. Their happy hour was totally unbeatable, and service was always excellent. It seems like recently, they’ve certainly taken a bit of a downturn. I came here Saturday with my mom and my son. We were sat quite promptly, and were informed that it was happy hour all day on Saturday. Good to know! My mom took them up on it with a mojito carafe, and I ordered their fresh mint iced tea. They were not able to provide a water with a lid for my little one, so he had a small glass of water with a very long straw. Beverages were good, but they took quite a while to arrive. I understand that muddling fresh mint for two different orders isn’t immediate, but it still seemed quite slow for our drinks. My mom reported her mojito being a little on the weak side, but still quite tasty. We ordered– pollo parmesan for my mom, and the Maria crepes for me. We each shared with the little dude. My mom really enjoyed her chicken, and my crepes were good, but they were so un-artfully presented that it almost ruined it for me. Two beige crepes, simply folded in half, taking up a white plate. I really, really don’t want that to be such a negative factor for me, but it seems like the dish could have been at least garnished– even a sprinkling of chopped parsley or green onions would have brightened it up. Service was rather inattentive during our meal; I can’t really say we felt particularly welcome. The busser was the friendliest person we encountered during our visit. I’ll certainly be back; it’s a nice place for a glass of wine when you want to stay in town, and I have business lunches here quite often. It just seems that Bistro Casanova isn’t what I remember it being five years ago!

A Diamond in the rough, my wife and I literally stumbled onto this place when a local recommended it. We were extremely skeptical when we drove by because the restaurant is difficult to find. Don’t judge a book by its cover! If you craved ROCKIN food without the $ 1,000,000 view, Casanova’s is your place. The caeser’s salad was one of the best I have ever had. I ordered homemade fettuccine carbonara and I do not believe I have ever tasted better. Keep in mind, I’m Italian, I travel all over the world eating wonderful meals and my wife would tell you I’m painfully picky when it comes to Italian food. She ordered a seared Mahi Mahi dish with basmati rice. Fantastic. Michael, the bartender was our server and he was about as good as you can get. Even one of the waitresses was a huge help with deciding on dishes and she wasn’t our server. We’ll be back!

At the bottom of the 4 story office building on the corner of the parking lot. Park and walk toward Lono. Had the mushrooms linguine. A little heavy, but so yummy! Lots of mushrooms, coated in garlic cream. Also ordered the grigliati da verdure(grilled veggies, pesto, quinoa) and added chicken — light and fresh. They ran out of bread and butter by the end of evening, which is disappointing. And the free crêpe with Unilocal checkin? Just a scam: must have same day boarding pass to airport, too. Expensive for the presentation. Service was poor. X

Went here on a whim after driving past Saturday night. SO glad we did! We ordered the Duck A L’Orange and it was sooo ono :))) The sauce was perfect and the scalloped potatoes were delicious. Also had the Vanilla and Amaretto Crème Brulee and the Belgian Chocolate Mousse Cake for dessert which were both amazing! Definitely would come back to try some of their pastas and recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an affordable classy experience! ^___^

Bistro Casanova is tucked away in a corner that seems like an unlikely place for a nice restaurant. The food is good, but the service can be a little in the slow side, but the servers are always friendly. This time I tried the caprese salad which was served warm. It was amazing! I will definitely be back!

we came here for my bestfriends birthday dinner and it was a beautiful atmosphere inside the resturaunt. our waiter guy gave us good suggestions to eat due to we never ate there before. just be careful when being asked if you would like a salad with your meal, it doesnt come with the meal you get charged extra($ 10). we didnt know until we got our bill, it was just disappointing that our waiter didnt tell us that(im sorry, it wouldve been nice to know due to me being on a budget). the portion of the meals are not that big, pretty pricey, the desert was good. i would have to say the location is not that bad, plenty parking spaces.

I enjoy the convenient location of Bistro Casanova. I also love these things: lots of parking, good food and outdoor seating. The back parking lot is huge, so you’ll never have to circle around trying to find a spot. That’s a really nice perk on busy nights. The food is delish. I love pasta, so that’s always what I order. Mmmm. Listen to this description of the Capellini Alla Checca: angel hair tossed with spinach, garlic, pine nuts, tomatoes and Parmesan shavings. Oh yes. So so Ono. And what I love about it is that it doesn’t have a thick red sauce like most pastas. It’s a very light, yet very filling. I am able to stuff myself for dinner, and take some home for lunch for the following day. Win: win They offer carafes of Mojito’s and margaritas for happy hour! There is also a Unilocal check in offer to nab a crêpe. We got the Madonna: Strawberries, whipped cream, Marsala wine, Mascarpone cheese and drizzled with chocolate! What a perfect way to end the meal! Our server was great, very friendly and attentive. We sat outside enjoyed the nice, cool Maui breeze. Head on over and check them out in Kahului or Makawao. Its some of the best pasta I’ve ever had.

Food is pretty awesome. They’ve definitely stepped up the food game. Linguine al funghi subbed with rigatoni pasta was AMAZING. Creamy, tasty, mushroom sauce with lots of mushrooms, delicious. Gnocchi is always a hit, a little pricey at $ 8 but the sauces are always yummy. Happy Hour. Enough said. $ 5 ½ litre carafes of margaritas, mojitos, pinot or chianti every day from 4−6pm cant be beat on this island. $ 2 up charge for lychee, strawberry or blueberry flavoring.(lychee had chunks of lychee blended in) Service doesn’t live up to the food. Pretty bad, but worth the happy hour and food. Our waitress walked up to our table, leaned in and stared at us while we read our menus. A simple«hello, my name is___and ill be your waitress» would’ve avoided all the awkwardness altogether. Our food was brought to us sans silverware, water glasses needed to be asked in order to be filled… I could go on and on, but the Happy Hour and food makes up for it. Would give higher stars if the service was better

We like to come here for the $ 5.00 happy hour specials. Mojitos, margaritas or wine in a half liter carafe – what a deal! They get pretty busy during happy hour and the service is hit or miss. Our last visit was well past the happy hour special, and the restaurant was fairly empty. HOWEVER, our service was bleh. It took a little while for our server to take our order. We were there for tapas and drinks, and well… We got our drinks but not our tapas. The restaurant has recently removed some of its tables and added a lounging area. I love the ambiance, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. I think I’ll stick to happy hour, at least the price of my drink offsets the disappointing service.

Noticed this place a year ago when I was here and couldn’t wait to get back. Made it for happy hour with $ 5 carafes of margaritas… enjoyed the bacon wrapped scallops while waiting for someone that was joining us. I had the special. Not sure what they called it but was delicious! The other 2 had steaks and they were cooked perfectly and claim the truffle sauce was great. For desert I used the free crêpe check in offer… the Mistress… only way this could have been better was if it came with ice cream ;-) the Madonna was also order and delicious, the chocolate pie/cake thing was very rich and also good. Worth stopping when your in the area.
