Jack In the Box

They have upgraded the décor in the restaurant. Gone is the gray walls and metal chairs. The restaurant has a much warmer tone. Very inviting compared to the old prison vibe it used to have. The chairs and tables are pleasing to the eye and comfortable. The food is the same fare. Jack in the Box carries some items that other fast food restaurants don’t have on their menu. The food reminds me of my college days. I would go to Jack in the Box once a week before I watched the UH football game. The service is average, nothing special but they you food to you hot and fresh in a timely manner. Good job on the upgrade. It needed it.

The place is still dirty as ever on the outside despite a very light renovation a few years ago.
FOOD:
Portobello Mushroom Buttery Jack — I HAD to try this after seeing the commercial, and it was damn delish! Butter makes everything better. I was surprised that the mushrooms were fresh and tasty, as was the Swiss cheese. I always opt for curly fries but I think the regular fries would go better with this burger.

Not a good experience. We ordered 3 Macadamia Nut Shakes. We knew there was a problem when we picked them up and the felt lighter than air. Not sure what they were made out of, but definitely not ice cream.

Décor– ⁴⁄₅ I really liked the modern design of JITB. The posters and atmosphere really stood out and drew me inside.
Atmosphere – ¹⁄₅ It’s really not hard to have a good atmosphere, it really isn’t. But when I went there, it’s like they had given up all hope. It was very out in the open as far as seating goes. Worse though was the Sound. There was no music, so our only soundtrack was this awful grinding noise from the back.
Staff– ³⁄₅ They were mediocre. They have the demeanor of a Taco Bell employee: very unenthusiastic, but not necessarily rude.
Food– ²⁄₅ I got a sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. The egg was so overdone it had brown marks all over it. The egg had this rubbery texture I absolutely hated.
I will not be going back there. Ever.

Popped in here for a quick meal before our flight, as this place is located pretty close to the airport.
I’m usually quite a Jack fan, but my tacos and spicy chicken sandwich weren’t piping hot when served. The fries; however, were totally fresh. Too hot to eat straight away.
One of the staff members was a bit un-​smiley; however, the other woman was very cheery; she could have passed some of her happiness along to the other woman.
Still shocks me that a spicy chicken combo meal costs nearly $ 9 in Maui.
Eh — served it’s purpose — and the tacos were free anyway (voucher from the Entertainment guide).
