This Place use to be a great place to find items that are used/pre-owned for a bargain. Remember, these are pre-owned items that are USED. They have gone over board and overpriced items that you are priced«ASIF» it was still brand new! Its a thrift store, they should lower their prices. If you’re in the area, there is a Goodwill thats located down Alamaha Street. I’d recommend checking Goodwill down the road for the same kind of goods for less. Better yet, check out Ross Dress for less, its NEW!

Huge store but, along with that came huge prices. For a thrift store, I was expecting more reasonable prices. I did find a lot of very nice things. Some I had to put back because of the prices. Well…on my next trip to Maui, I will visit this store again and hopefully the second time will win me over.

The Savers here is large and has a variety of things to offer. My companion was surprised, as I was, to find an aloha shirt that was priced at $ 50. Needless to say, he opted out and went close by to KMart to get one. Ok so maybe it was Vintage, but that seems really high. I did get an alternate bathing suit top, for a $ 4.50, marked down.

Cool store! Really fun to browse around and look at things. I can’t believe the prices on their cloths though. WAY — WAY — WAY — too overpriced. Used surf shorts for $ 20.00, really, What a joke! Old used levi 501 jeans for $ 15 – 20 bucks a pair… What a they thinking. This is supposed to be a thrift store. The prices on the merchandise here should be way cheaper than it is. They should be ashamed of themselves. You can find new cloths on the sale rack at Macy’s for less than Savers is charging for some of their used crap. The prices at Savers used to be reasonable. They need to start selling their stuff a lot cheaper like they used too. They need to help out the people of maui, and stop trying to take advantage of them. Hope for change!

so, for those of us not from Maui, who might be more familiar with Value Village, im going to give you a little spoiler alert: this place is actually Value Village. Im not saying its«Like» value village. Im saying it actually IS value village, just branded their other name: savers. :) nevertheless, i love this store. such a large store, clean, well put together, they put a LOT into it and there are a LOT of options. I found a LOT of things that day, a lot of things for the kids, toys, clothes, and even a bathing suit for me! they have more things in the larger sizes(im a 16/18w) and they had a lot of costumes already for the halloween. same goes for savers as value village, not a lot of housewares, but a LOT of options for halloween, a lot of options for toys and clothes and swimwear. it was awesome!

We visited Savers 3x while on our Maui vacation! Yep, that’s right… my husband was very lucky to find a lot of near new golf shirts from the local resorts for a song(with 50% off color tag + another 25% off for seniors). I was not so lucky… truthfully, things are high here for a thrift but if you find stuff with the«right» color tag, it will make your trip worthwhile.

The store is a real cost savings, you can hit up Savers, Salvation Army, and Goodwill in row, they are basically in a row. My MAJOR beef with Savers is that they mark one color down 50% on Mondays, BUT pull items from the racks of that color into the back room. When I asked one of the workers why they are pulling the color of the week off the floor, she just replied I am only doing what I am told. Boo Savers!

The store is okay, the parking is so-so, the selection is meh. The biggest problem is that the store is located on Dairy Road, on the way to the airport and depending on the time of day, it is a PITA to enter and leave the store via car. Your options are limited as you have to enter from the west from at least Alamaha Street to turn around(or cut thru the Shell Station next door), and exit towards the airport onto Dairy Road going towards K-Mart/Costco, or turn onto Hana Highway. You take a major gamble trying to go west on Dairy Road. It would be great if Savers could get some arrangement for folks to park across the street at Dairy Road Center and allow folks to walk.

So I’m really torn about this place. I am a vintage/thrift store junkie. I have scoured the streets of NY, SF, Toronto, HNL and I even went to one in Cambodia!), so I feel like I have a pretty good handle on vintage shopping. So let’s start with the fact that I think this is the only thrift store in central Maui… so they do have a captive audience for at least a 10 mile radius – (hey that’s a big radius for an island like Maui!) The others are either in Kihei or Lahaina. The size is pretty large, but the selections are mostly clothes. Their house appliance selection is not that impressive and I think their furniture department is non existent. Although there are definite potential treasure finds, I am extremely perplexed by their pricing?! I went there today in search of a pan/pot and within the measly selection, I found a thin, rusting metal pot for $ 13!!! Really? I went to Ross yesterday and found a nice ceramic one for 9 $ Brand new! The cheapest silk type scarves were $ 4, a used old navy dress for $ 12?!(really? you get a new one for cheaper sometimes!) Granted, I’m sure if you really invest some time in it, you could end up with some good finds. I did peruse the Hawaiian shirts(for men) and there were a few as low as $ 7, but most were in the $ 15-$ 20 range. I was lucky enough to find cute orange Ralph Lauren wedges in my size… but still at $ 10, it’s still pretty steep for a thrift store.(this is why this gets a 3 Star vs a 2). I’m not really sure whether this is a trend in just SAVERs in general(although I visited the one in Honolulu and was not quite as sticker shocked) or a trend in thrift stores in maui. I guess I’ll have to explore the Salvation Army stores in Kihei/Lahaina to find out.

One man’s junk may be another man’s treasure. Thrift stores are great when you are looking for vintage clothing. But at this store I had fun looking through everything! The store is a brightly lit and clean, not dusty like some other thrift stores. The items are randomly priced, almost like there is no real system for pricing items… just whatever the clerks feel like. =p I found a circular saw for $ 10 on a top shelf next to some kitchen appliances. Seriously tempted to buy it, but since I was on vacation what would I ever need it for?! =p There was also(I kid you not) an EMPTY Ramune bottle for sale! Hahaha It was about the same price of a new bottle in supermarkets, what were they thinking?! Maybe they thought it was a fancy bottle for dispensing salad oil or something because of the marble inside. =D Lots of old DVDs and CDs, even VHS tapes, but they weren’t going for a good price. If you have some time to spend and aren’t too cool to look though used stuff, you might end up with a great find.

What a cool place! Ask me what we did on our vacation. We spent 38 bucks at an awsum thrift store. Yeah. a thrift store. We were looking for some clothing that didn’t have aloha this and that plastered all over it, and thanks to a tip from a local resident in the up-country, found this place. Its not a junk shop. Not one of those places where you just go once a year to buy a Halloween costume. Its neat and has aisles and aisles of clothing for men, women and the kids. All well organized by size and style. Ladies, this is a shop-your-ass off kind of place you can get lost in if you like. Where the quality of whats hanging on the rack is new to lightly used and clean. Its good stuff too. You won’t blow up your credit card in the process either. Prices are very good. Why go clothes shopping at a thrift store when you’re on vacation and should be at the beach? I dunno… We just did. I hate browsing and shopping in general but Savers was a unique find and beats the heck out of all the dopey tourist places selling overpriced Chinise-made junk.
