Ai Pono Cafe

I am neither vegan nor even vegetarian. While traveling in Hawaii with a dear friend who is vegan, we used Unilocal to search for vegan options. I was so happy we found a totally vegan place as my friend normally has limited options. I had a Caesar salad and also part of the falafel dish. They were both excellent. The Caesar dressing was made (in part) with lemon and cashews. It was so delicious. Cute, homey, friendly place. Recommend for all!

Fantastic find on Big Island! Fresh ingredients, vegan and great people with a passion for what they’re serving. If you’re tired of the tourist fare then definitely try this. You’ll actually get vegetables packed with fiber and great herbs like cumin and flavors like curry. In 8 day stay, ate here 3 times. Love loved the Zoodles, which is all veggies which are always lacking when on vacation. The falafel was also delicious, had it on a bed is greens instead of a wrap. The Fu Manchu burger and Buddha burger were also great! My husband liked the Buddha burger the best. Also the places next door are terrific too… Get Sum Pizza and Evolution Café:) Eat here while on island, I promise you’ll love it!!!

This place was so good we had to go there two times. My name is Jeremy I am a big fan of food I am not so into boring plain vegetables passed off as vegan this or that. Ai Pono has a decent variety of creative choices, not limiting itself to one ethnic cuisine or style. There are about a dozen dishes and each one of them looked worth trying but I can only speak to four of them bc I got one my girl got one and that times number of visits equals number of meals I can speak on. Staff was real cool, friendly, enthusiastic, passionate, etc. Good food. Very recommend. Aloha.

So yummy! This place totally made my visit to Kona. The food was excellent and the staff super friendly.
