Wonderful place to snorkel and very clear water. Giving it 3 stars because the rocks are very dangerous and high tide is very scary! Not very kid friendly

Great snorkeling, with a wide variety of sea life to view. Almost guaranteed to see turtles. Volunteers rent snorkeling gear and require an educational video to help protect the sea environment. Beach has pebble-y sand, but has shade on the south side(at least in November). About two miles from downtown Kona on Ali’i drive. Plenty of parking on weekdays, and vendor trucks offer food and treats.

Easy snorkling and good for young kids. It does get crowded and the snorkeling could be better(coral not vibrant and fish are hit/miss and clearly expect to be fed). Good people watching.

if you’re itching for a beach near kailua kona, i suppose this would be your spot. if you’re mobile(ie have a car), i’d say pack up your belongings and head up to hapuna beach instead. but if you’re in dire straits time wise, then i suppose this will do. it’s small and crowded, and definitely not as nice as the aforementioned beach, but do as you will/must.
