The Godzilla roll was Onolicious. Hunny had the Spicy Mongoose, and the California rolls which were tempura style which was different but good. Didn’t care for the furikake chicken. The service was great and appreciate their friendly personality. In all it was a delightful experience.

Flew into Kona for a day of diving with a good friend from BC. Since the Eddie surf competition was going on that day, our manta dive was cancelled due to the strong swells. This gave us an opportunity to grab dinner at a decent time. We luckily were able to score seats at the sushi bar and were able to see the display or fish. Though not a huge variety, the fish was super fresh and the rice was well seasoned. We ordered a few appetizers to start off with to to with a few beers before ordering our sushi. The chicken karaage was fried to a golden brown and was super crispy and tasty! Loved how crispy each piece was and was seasoned well. The agedashi tofu was no different. Both apps were so good we ordered a second round. Looking back, we should’ve held off on the apps so that we could’ve had more sushi. Sushi here was probably as good as one could get in Tokyo. Would definitely come back to dine here the next time we are on the Big Island.

Awesome sushi for the Big Island. Order all the premium cuts, hamachi underbelly, red eye tuna toro, escolar, sea scallop, etc. Really good quality and not too expensive!

A special night, I offered a full sushi dinner to my lovely parents for New Year’s Eve. We have full sushi platters, with oysters and edamame as appetizers. Chilled sake and beer. Quite the feast! Verdict: a high class sushi restaurant. On the more expensive side, but the quality of the fish and of the preparation was undeniable. The oysters with ponzu sauce were perfect. Sushi highlights: the Toro(tuna stomach) and the Uni(sea urchin).

The food is just so so, but the price is far too expensive for the quality of the food. And their service is so slow, we waited so long for our food. Try to go somewhere else for Japanese food.

Chicken furiake was delicious, even better than the sushi I’d say. Very crispy but not too heavy either, and the chicken inside was very tender. Service was nice, although the food and check took a long time to come. It’s an even longer wait if you don’t make a reservation ahead of time. The sushi was not bad, although I would have liked some more meat in it. We got the Lobster Tempura Roll which had cucumber and sprouts as well as the lobster. Again, would have liked more lobster. Also got the Mauna Kea Roll which had eel, cream cheese, cucumber wrapped with salmon, yellowtail, and salmon and avocado. Fish was very fresh. Uni rolls were good too, if you are into it. Very fresh and sweet uni.

We went for lunch. Mediocre. The sushi was pretty good. The service was not good. After the waitress took our order we didn’t see her again until we got up and went to ask her for the check. Honestly we would have ordered more and had more drinks if we had service. However, we sat at the sushi bar and the sushi chefs were super nice! Tip: There’s a lot of parking behind the plaza where the restaurant is located.

We had a great experience with Sushi Shiono’s brilliant Hamachi Kama, expertly done standard sushi and sashimi, succulent desserts and service. Clean tables, good service(although are waitress was still quite new), great, tasteful art all make for a great dining experience. This is great, solid, authentic nihon-ryouri. More please!

Great sushi. Awesome new flavors. The spicy mongoose roll is a must. And the Hawaiian Volcano roll was excellent. So amazing. Fish was fresh and the service was excellent. Make a reservation if you don’t want to wait. The local ale was delicious also. It was a nice and casual sushi place. And I definitely recommend it.

Word is out that this is a good place to eat. We had to book through open table and still had to wait for several large parties to clear out. We had a sushi platter and also a combo plate. It was more then enough food to feed the 3 of us. They need to balance the service staff as our waitress was too busy to properly service our table. We had to flag another waitress for some basics. This place is still yummie but need some work on the service.

Loved the sushi here! Service was quick and we got sat right away. The ambiance in the restaurant was quite and had a good modern feel to it. We ordered many different rolls including the unfiltered sake and the clam miso so which was sooo amazing! Overall we loved everything about the restaurant.

It was so busy when my husband and I dined here for dinner. The sushi was expectedly good, considering there’s not much to cook, but the presentation could’ve have been more interesting. We ordered the tuna while we were there as the salmon is from our home state, Oregon, and is frequent on our weekly menu already. The service could also improve, but I guess being busy as they were, it may have been challenging for them to organize and prioritize who needed catering and what needed to be done.

Ordered Shiro Maguro and was served escolar/walu. No self-respecting Japanese restaurant serves this fish, as it’s considered unfit for human consumption in Japan due to a laxative effect. Two stars because the waitress understood my concern when it was served and took it back.

I had the seafood salad for«Take Out» and this salad was still really good. It might have warranted a five star rating had I eaten it there and not in my foam tray. The combination of the fresh seafood and greens work so good together. But the way, this is already the 3rd time I have had this dish(always take out) and I can’t bring myself to try something else because I like it so much.

Great service, excellent quality sushi, but a bit pricey for the food. It’s kinda hard to find, it’s next door to the Thai Restaurant!

Cam, Logan and I accidentally found this place after passing up the Thai spot that was around the corner. The wait was pretty short(10−15mins) for a Friday night. It was packed and that alone was the best sign for us to just wait it out. Plus I screamed, look there’s a lot of Japanese people — it must be good lol. We order some miso soup, sushi and mixed tempura. I really liked their sushi and felt that the tempura could of had a little more flavor. I drowned in the tempura sauce and that made it better. We were so stuffed that we missed out on the fried tempura ice cream. I’m glad we tried this place — so next time I know where to go!

*My new fav sushi and restaurant on the BI and in general and this coming from someone who eats sushi roughly once a week *Excellent service and the sushi is solid and not terribly expensive for what you get *So happy to find this place and it was our only non«island time» service on the trip, not rushed just on top of things(as it should be)

Good sushi, reasonable price. We enjoyed their rolls both in the restaurant and at their take out location at Waikoloa village. The menu seems to focus mostly on rolls, lacking a few Japanese specialties that I might have gone for. On the other hand I saw some people eating a few more unusual dishes at other tables, so maybe I just had to read the menu better! What we did have was good, service was fine, presentation fine(I’d have prefered some more attractive plates — all the sushi was put on one large white platter which lacked japanese flair…).

Must try the seafood salad! Delicious dressing and includes salmon, squid(ika), and white fish sashimi. $ 15 Lunch and dinner plates include miso soup, salad and rice. The service is just okay… hence the 3 stars. Not very friendly. Price of yellowtail collar(hamachi kama) is $ 14.50 ala cart and butterfish appetizer is a small portion for $ 14.00.
