Best customer service. Always friendly. Always fast. The restaurant itself is tucked away and a little dingy but their food more than makes up for it. Personally I love the garlic chicken and the garlic shrimp. But my mom really loves the chicken eggplant. You really can’t go wrong with anything that you order

I got the Loco moco from the deal that the kayak place gave us(the one right next to this place) and it was kind of dissapointing. The reason why is cause of the small portions, but the taste of the loco moco wasn’t that bad. You can probably find other places who sell better loco moco.

The Garlic Mahi Mahi and the beef curry were both excellent. You can get mini or large portions of each, the latter of which comes with macaroni salad which by itself met my expectations of this eatery. The quality of the fish was accentuated — not compensated for — by the light frying and garlic treatment. I agree half hot(very hot) and had the rest as cold leftovers. Both times it was scrumptious. The beef curry was savory and substantial, although I did have to cut out some gristle. The rice each dish was served with was perfectly done, and melded well with the main ingredients to make an overall very filling meal. Will be back for sure

We bought $ 35 worth of food for 2 people but they STILL wanted to charge us $ 0.50 for water. Are you kidding me? No wonder people don’t eat here.

Kind of a grungy plate lunch place that tastes like you think it will. Not bad but not great. I enjoyed my mahi sandwich well enough but the saimin was kinda bad.

Stopped by this place to get some quick calories in before a big day of kayaking at the rental place next door. We ordered 3 spam musubi, notably slightly overpriced, to go. My gf paid and tipped a buck fifty and the lady at the counter flashed a big grateful smile. Not 1 minute later while waiting for our order we asked her for a cup of water. «We charge fifty cents for water» she tells us. SERIOUSLY? You just watched us tip you a buck fifty for three rolls to go. You couldn’t spare a 5-cent styrofoam cup and some tap water? The musubi itself was about 90% a huge block of rice with a very thin slice of spam. Pretty disappointing experience overall.

Howdy folks. How’s it going out there ya all? Nasty Nathanial here and I am about to write a review of one of my favorite ono grind spots on Oahu, if not my favorite. I know that sounds extreme. But this place really gets my juices flowing. Ok here goes. My fellow cast member and best bud Jonny Random introduced me to this place about eight hundred million years ago. Jon has always been one to seek out and then introduce me to all the hidden grind spots on Oahu. He has taken me to many groovey island restaurants. But there was one in particular that has placed itself on the top of my mountain. And let me tell you. Not too many people or places have reached the top of my mountain. It is not a fancy smancy place such as Duke’s or Buzz’s, but more of a casual roll up your sleeves kind of a joint. But enough about all of that jazz, let’s talk about the food itself. My favorite is a plate called the Garlic Shrimp Rice. I get the regular plate which is basically the large. This thing is a gigantic portion of the most delicious fried rice I have ever tasted is my whole nasty life. It will probably end up being the most delicious fried rice you have ever tasted in your whole nasty life as well. Well, not that your life is nasty. But I think you get what I am trying to say. There is so much of this delicious fried rice crammed into one space that there is barely enough room for the mac salad, which is also pretty ono in itself. I read a review on here in which somebody who ordered the fried rice with spicy fried chicken wrote that the fried rice had some weird mystery meat pieces in it. Mmmm? Could those mystery meat pieces be chicken? I mean after all he ordered the fried rice with spicy CHICKEN. Should the joint provide him with magnifying glass? If that doesn’t work maybe he should just stick with eating organic meat food from Down To Earth. I most definitely give K and K a five star rating. I don’t give too many places that kind of credit. Even the places I do really like I usually will give them a four star rating because for me to consider someplace worthy of five stars they better be hotter than a flaming loco moco on a hot summer’s day. So whether you are a local resident or a visitor to the island, head on over to Kailua and stop by K and K. You won’t be disappointed. Well, Vegetable Man might be. But that’s another story altogether. Until next time may the force be with you. Happy trails.

I got the fried rice with spicy fried chicken. Don’t get it! The fried rice has some weird mystery meat pieces, and is quite greasy. The spicy friend chicken was very bland, and not even that crispy. I got this after paddling non-stop for 3 hours on the kayak, and even famished, could barely finish half the dish. My boyfriend got the chicken katsu. He was even more famished than I was, so I only got to try a couple pieces of it. But it was nice and crispy and the sauce was tangy and delicious. But that could have been because stolen food always tastes better.

It’s basically a L&L with a lot more Chinese food options. They offer really large portions for cheap prices! Great for a post-beach lunch. I got a teriburger with cheese(they forgot the cheese but slapped some on after I complained) and a sack of hot fries. My husband got a mixed plate with chicken katsu and fried mahi mahi. Everything was good.

Getting a five star!!! This is one of the best meals we had. It was such a surprise. I had the teri steak and my husband had the mixed plate. Both were ono! The pricing is great and I really can’t say enough about how great the food was. Must go!

This is our go to place after spending time at the beach. Their combos are amazing and priced very reasonably! The staff is always so friendly(: their steak & shrimp plate is definitely what we come back for.

A lot of food for the price. I ordered the house special, which included a variety of meat and seafood. Just a little too greasy for me, had that burnt oil taste. Staff was really nice and it’s in a good location, close to the beach and island snow shave ice!

Lots of food for cheap — what you expect from Hawaiian BBQ place! Would come back, though probably not for the Saimin Burger. I wanted to try it, and it was okay… I think I’m just not a Saimin Burger type of girl. Next time I’m in the area, I will try to mochiko chicken and garlic ahi — they seem popular!

This place is the bomb! I tried the mochiko chicken, chicken katsu, garlic ahi, and lemon chicken and they are really good. It’s similar to L&L BUT it has better ingredients, and little to no msg/salt. I never go to L&L because the food there is too salty and has MSG(I get really bad headaches from eating it). This place has a lot of choices and even some Chinese items as well. The white rice is on point; nice and moist but not too sticky and the mac salad is simple but soooo ono! Prices are under $ 10 for a regular«large» plate and around under $ 8 for a mini plate(still gives a lot for a «mini» portion). I recently visited this place a few times and I’m positive I’ll go there to get my plate lunch fix from now on.

Perfect plate lunch place after spending a day at the nearby Kailua beach trying to kayak. Huge portions. Friendly staff. Appeals to both locals and tourists. My fave dish is the BBQ chicken — sweet, salty, succulent.

This place is always one of our«must haves» during our annual trip to Oahu. As some have said it’s like L&L on steroids. They have better quality ingredients(don’t get me wrong, we have L&L all the time on the mainland, as we have far fewer choices), and seem to prepare dishes with a bit more care and finesse. But the main difference is flavor! The crispy garlic shrimp is a must. The chicken Katsu and Teri beef are also on faves list. Sure, the place is not a gourmet location or set up, but the food is what you’re there for, and it never disappoints!

I just can’t say enough about the«locals choice» here. If that statement means nothing to you, then by all means stop reading now. As I said in my tip, this place is nothing to look at. Some would say the best thing going for it is the fact that you can have a fabulous shave ice NEXTDOOR when you finish your meal! I disagree. Plate lunch-local Hawaiian fare consisting of various meats, rice and Mac salad; are the specialty here. Tried and true they have this down to a science and you won’t be disappointed. My favorite is the teriyaki chicken but my husband and I usually share the mixed BBQ plate. My portion is the chicken because as I said its my favorite and admittedly it is a little less greasy. Served in styrofoam boxes with plastic silverware, the meals are made for the perfect«take away.“Grab it and go… to the beach, to the park or home. I say this because the seating inside is «sticky» with age and the tables outside aren’t much better. We always sit outside because it’s Hawaii and you can do that and because its fun to watch the locals stream in. We always have bottled water, as it is a Pepsi place and I am a Diet Coke gal. Prices are extremely reasonable for the food quantity. If you intend to «live Aloha» and you are in Kailua, you can’t miss with this place.
