I used to love this place but it has been a while since I’ve been there. Last couple of years they have been slacking in quality and service. I would definitely be coming back if they brought back the smoked salmon Benedict though!

A gem to be adored! This quaint, Vine neighborhood restaurant above a very welcoming Irish Pub, is one to be cherished and appreciated. The atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxing. If you choose to sit on the deck, you are above the neighborhood, amongst the tree tops, and amongst darling potted plants scattered around the deck. It almost gives you the feeling of being abroad. The food… OHMY! If you want your food«fast» then go to McDonalds… you get what you pay for. Here, it is made fresh upon your order. The veggies are never overcooked, but rather lend a mouth watering crunch of goodness to please the palate. The scallops are tops on my list. ALWAYS melt in the mouth. The menu is always current on trend and tradition. The menu changes every so often to add that element of surprise and excitement. Very pleasant staff/servers. Cosmos cares about their customers, the food they serve, and the smiles they share. You know the food is going to be excellent when you catch a glimpse of the Chef in the kitchen smiling. One whom truly enjoys their work, puts forth their best. At Cosmos, it’s the best!

Cosmos is great most of the time but when it’s bad, it’s really bad. I’ve been here many times. At worst, our dinner took three hours and most of that was waiting for the food. The waiter was fairly unsympathetic and finally told us they only have something like a two burner stove and the kitchen is tiny. At best, the food is interesting and well above average and the atmosphere is super charming. I’ll go occasionally and cross my fingers each time. It’s good more often than not.

I have been dining at Cosmo’s now since they opened in 1992! Hidden away in the Vine Neighborhood this little gem will satisfy the discerning palette on the pricey side of things, but for this foodie I usually get what I pay for and I pay for the DUCK! I am speaking of the Oven Roasted Duck Breast! Simply amazing, a Rosemary rubbed duck breast(get it medium rare) sliced thinly, finished with a cherry balsamic reduction, fresh berries, and served with our mashed sweet potatoes and a petite arugula salad. As is the pumpkin cheese cake(Seasonal). I would love to give you more insight on the other menu items but I can not get myself to order anything else. Duck is what chicken strives to be, but falls short on so my levels. If you have not had the pleasure of Succulent duck meat, this is the place to try it. As for the service, I have not had any issues with the wait staff, slow at times but anything worth consuming here is worth waiting for. Especially when it finally arrives it is pure magic! Great bread and olive oil to pass the time whilst waiting for the delectable dish. I am not hungry for… DUCK!!!

We visit this place nearly once per month for breakfast, but the past two times have been severely lacking. They serve breakfast on the weekends. Sometimes they don’t, though. I’m not sure why they are sometimes closed on the weekends. I’ll share my most recent experience today: We were sat immediately. About half of the restaurant was occupied, so not overly busy. Took approximately 10 minutes to get coffee and water. We ordered after another 10 minutes. Waitress wasn’t overly friendly. We ordered our food and it took about 35 minutes to arrive. That’s completely too long to wait for breakfast. Plus, we never got refills on our coffee until my dad flagged down the waitress who was refilling a gentleman’s coffee near us. When we dug into our food, I noticed my omelet had some uncooked vegetables. I ordered the cucina omelet. It was advertised as: «A light fluffy omelette with tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, and cheddar cheese. Served with toast.» The vegetables were not cooked. They were cold, raw and served underneath a fluffy egg omelet which had no flavor. I ate the eggs with hot sauce and when the server came to check on us, I told her it was a poor omelet and explained that the mushrooms and veggies were raw. She responded by saying she doesn’t eat mushrooms so wasn’t sure how they were supposed to be served. No sorry or anything. I told her I didn’t want to order anything to replace it because it took so long and would prefer a discount since it didn’t seem like it was made correctly. She brought it back to the kitchen. When she came back, she said she gave us a percentage discount and explained that the omelets are served, «french style» and that’s why the vegetables are raw. She still didn’t apologize. I have never heard of french omelets, but gave her the benefit of the doubt. Why doesn’t the menu list it that way? For the record, I googled«french style» and it simply implies no milk used to prepare the eggs but plenty of butter and no mention of raw vegetables. I didn’t taste butter. I think perhaps the kitchen lost our order or hurried on my omelet since it took so long to be served. Also, my toast was cold. My husband reported that the few seasoned breakfast potatoes he was served were under-cooked. That’s the second time we’ve been served very few potatoes which would seem to be a staple on a meal consisting of potatoes, eggs and toast. He doesn’t eat meat, so it seems reasonable that they would pile on some potatoes since they are fairly cheap. My parents each had few potatoes on their plates, too. We won’t be back for a long time. Disappointed in food quality, slow service, unfriendly.

Happened to drive by one day. Decided to try it this morning despite some of the negative reviews. It was delicious! The service was good too. If you’re expecting a fast, normal breakfast experience, you’ll be disappointed. Food is excellent and not mass-produced so ya, might take a bit longer. Not that much though. Service is relaxed, not slow. We felt like we were given the opportunity to sit back and enjoy sitting on the deck. We sat, were served, ate, all in about an hour and 15 minutes. We will definitely go back. Also looking forward to trying the pub downstairs.

First time here and it was not good. Steaks came out well done when we asked for medium. Shrimp skewers was dry and cold. The service was pretty good.

Tried today for the first time. We(my boyfriend and I) got there at about 10:00am, which is sort of a busy time on a Sunday. We wanted to sit outside, so we waited. «Just 15 mins» turned into 40 mins. Then after we promptly ordered our food, it was another 30 min and our food was cold and hard. We didn’t want to send it back, however, since we had already waited a long time. The servers were friendly and offered us coffee while waiting. But they were also just chatting with some of the regulars while we had dirty dishes and needed our check. Also, the«regular couple» got their food 15 mins before us. We placed our order before them as well. Perhaps they ordered while waiting in line but i just felt we were kind of being ignored. The physical atmosphere was pleasant otherwise.

I should have read the reviews before coming here because they were spot on. So I made a 10am reservation for 6 people on a Saturday. We arrived at 9:40 and were immediately seated. It took about 10 minutes before someone came over and took our drink order. At this time I just ordered everything because lord knows when they will return. First there is no kids menu and the food is pricey for breakfast. We order the food around 9:50am…I look down at my watch and now it is 10:42, and still no sign of food. The food finally comes out at 10:47. My waffle is not hot. I can tell it has been sitting out. Now, it was an amazing buckwheat waffle. Too bad it took a lifetime to get it. Probably won’t return. It seems slow service is something they always struggle with.

Since moving to Kalamazoo years ago, I have been an infrequent customer of Cosmos. I probably visit there 2 – 3 times per year, and mostly stay in the pub called O’Duffy’s for pub fare and drinks. O’Duffy’s is a great little Irish style pub in the lower level of the restaurant. In my experience, the service here has always been stellar. Servers are warm and friendly, quick to accommodate, and never make mistakes. The only reasons that I am not a regular at the pub are because it is a bit of a distance from where I live, and because it is such an inviting environment it can be uncomfortably crowded at times. The problem that I have with this place is the food. I almost never order food when I am there hanging out with friends because it isn’t just mediocre, it is terrible. Everything else about this place seems great, and I have tried to keep an open mind and give them several chances to change my mind, but every single time that I have left there, I have been hugely disappointed in my meal. In my opinion this is a great place to go for drinks. It has a great bar, and a great vibe in the place. Stick to the pub grub, and do not order food from Cosmos upstairs. You will inevitably be let down…

Those who do not wander far from Crows Nest may not know about Cosmo’s Cucina. This nook is tucked down Vine Street on top of O’Duffy’s Pub. It’s a self-proclaimed gathering of friends, and, with a farms-to-table approach, they craft creative dishes. Be prepared to shell out a bit of money if buying an entrée. They’re anywhere between $ 11.99 for the Spinach Feta Burger to more than $ 20 for platters of either lamb or duck. The restaurant’s most common criticism is the relatively high prices for sparse food. Consider sharing a few appetizers with friends and split the bill. The goat cheese fritter was served hot alongside with blueberries and strawberries, and the Meat Pizza balanced its proscuitto with arugula. The beers on tap accompanied the dishes well: they offer plenty of options from Bell’s to Arcadia and Dark Horse to Right Brain. The food comes out slowly, but it’s worth the wait. The ciabatta that accompanied the Panzanella Salad was embellished with dried blueberries, which was a starter before digging into the green-red nest of heirloom tomatoes, roasted peppers, basil, and fresh mozzarella. They twisted the traditional gazpacho by adding blueberries, and the sweetness contrasted softly with the savory tomatoes and garlic flavors. It makes for a good date option, but it’s casual enough both downstairs at O’Duffy’s and up at the restaurant where food accompanies an IPA well. Their dishes complimented savory with sweetness, cheese with fruit, and meat with vegetables. Check in during different Holidays, because they’ll tweak the menu for the season.

I have heard great things about this place but was very disappointed last night. Our server was just awful. Not very friendly and very slow. It took almost an hour and a half for us to get our food. We had a party of 6 and everything came out at different times. Two of the dishes came out at least 5 minutes after the other 4 were delivered. My wife and I both wanted to order the filet, I wanted it without the Gorgonzola butter and my wife wanted it with the mushroom au ju on the side. Our server came back a few minutes later to tell us we couldn’t order the filet without the Gorgonzola butter or have the mushroom au ju on the side. Really? I work in the food and beverage industry and I know modifiers can be a pain in the neck. But how hard is it to put au ju on the side and 86 Gorgonzola butter? I changed my order to the pork tenderloin which was way over cooked. The pasta my wife ordered was very bland and pasty. Not a very good experience.

I’ve eaten here a few times now and each time the food has been excellent. I ordered the Veracruz Chicken Tacos for dinner and had the Peanut Butter Pie for dessert. The chicken tacos had a few unique flavors that really worked well together with the Jalapeño rice and ranch style beans. The tortillas are seared on a cast iron skillet and were really good as well. Now for the Peanut Butter Pie. I’ve had many Peanut Butter Pie’s in my day and this is at the very top of the list. You NEED to try it — you won’t be disappointed! What I love about this place is that it’s off the beaten path located in a quaint neighborhood near downtown. I’m always a sucker for a restaurant that many locals don’t even know about.

I feel bad writing a poor review of this place, because my girlfriend and her friend really like it. Basically, I thought it was just ok, and too expensive for what they give. We got a black bean burger and a pizza, then desert. The burger was ok; the bun was a sort of onion bun, the bean patty itself had an overpowering spice flavor to it. Most black bean burgers have that flavor, but on this one it was just too strong, didn’t allow you to taste the rest of the toppings as much. The desert is the part that really made me dislike the restaurant. We got a chocolate pie and a peanut butter pie. They had this super hard crust that was impossible to cut through, and pieces of the pie just went flying as we tried to chop it with our forks(we didn’t have knives, though I don’t think it would have been any easier.) Basically, same quality food as burdicks, but double the price. I think there are a lot of better options in the same area.

Cosmo’s Cucina was an excellent experience. The burger I got, pizza our son got, and Lasagna my wife got were all excellent. The Peanut Butter mousse pie was EXCELLENT! The only think that counted against this is our waitress was one of the worst I’ve ever experienced. The hostess was awesome and overall the experience was one that makes me a fan. I do hope we don’t EVER get the same waitress again.

Thus far, I’ve only been to Cosmo’s Cucina once for a group breakfast — but it was good enough that I know I’ll be back again. The parking lot is quite small, so you’ll likely end up parking on the street. Also, the restaurant is located upstairs above a bar, so I had to walk around the building to the backdoor to enter and then head up the stairs to meet my friends. They were able seat us at a nice, large table. The atmosphere is nice and warm. I ordered coffee to drink and the Breakfast Special, which came with 2 farm fresh eggs(scrambled), toast(wheat), and redskin potatoes with sausage. It was a good amount of food for the price and quite tasty. They were pretty busy the morning that we were there and our server seemed somewhat overwhelmed and was slow to get back over to our table — so the service did leave a lot to be desired on this first visit — but she was very sweet. Overall: 7 out of 10. I’ll be back to try something different from the menu. :-)
