They did a great job on my very old house explaining what needed to be done and why, and what all the options were — from relatively inexpensive to what it would look like in a modern home. Things went well, and I would recommend them. Jim

We had Metzger’s and a few others in to give us a quote on replacing our oil furnace with a natural gas furnace. Ultimately, they had both the cheapest quote and the friendliest, most respectful worker(ie, no attempts at upselling). A year later, we finally ran out of fuel oil, exactly as the weather first dipped below freezing. When we called, they were backed up helping people across townget their heaters in order for the winter, but they still managed to squeeze us on their list within two days. Good service, clean workers. It took them most of the day to remove and replace our old furnace, and we were at work for about half their visit, but everything went smoothly.

After being a homeowner for less than a year, I’ve become familiar with little problems that happen in a 60 year old house. Two days ago, it seemed that the blower on the furnace wasn’t working properly as I could see the gas light up inside the furnace, but no heat was really pushing out through the house. It wasn’t an emergency, but I knew something needed to be done. Moreover, I’m no furnace expert, and didn’t want to mess around with trying to figure it out. I called Metzger on a Wednesday in the middle of November when it was getting really cold and they were able to come out the next morning. The tech was neat, friendly, and explained what he was doing every step of the way. Turns out that it wasn’t something major that was wrong with the furnace, but just a capacitor needed to be replaced. He was at the house for about 35 minutes and didn’t charge me the full first hour like most companies would. $ 120 for the parts and labor, which seemed about right for me. Easiest service call I’ve had at the house so far!
