Prices are double or triple what I’m used to paying but the food quality mandates 5 stars. Staff is friendly. Must be because they are healthy. Wish Natural Grocers Vitimin Cottage or Trader Joe’s would open in Kalamazoo. Oh well.

Largest selection of gluten-free items I have seen in any grocery store thus far. Prices vary — some things were on special and nicely priced, others were priced similarly to what I’ve seen elsewhere, while others were definitely more expensive.

Actually, if you do some simple math, you find that if you spend $ 500+/yr at NHC, you start saving with the member’s discount. We shop there every 2 weeks, spend an average of $ 100 per trip. That’s $ 2600 per year. So we save several hundred bucks a year with our membership.

My wife and I shop here a couple of times a week. She is gluten-free so that have lots of good food that is clearly labeled for her to eat. We both like to cook fresh, real, healthy foods and the Natural Health Center is our main source for the food in many of the meals that we cook from home. Todd is the man to talk to for help during the day, very friendly guy who will go the extra mile to help you out.

I tried this store today after going to Sawall Health Foods for months. And, the two stores are very similar. They’re both overpriced, as health food stores seem to always be. For example, I purchased a box of Celestial Seasonings Tea here for $ 4.69; I wouldn’t have paid that much, but it’s a flavor that Meijer doesn’t sell any longer. Besides that, the tea tree oil, shampoo, and Zevia soda I purchased were all about the same price as they are at Sawall. Both stores are similarly sized, but I think Sawall may be larger. The people at both stores are very nice and try to be helpful. Beware the check out person asking you to join the store’s Discount Program to save 20% off all purchases — it will set you back $ 101/year.
